i'm currently working on an album inspired by the Nintendo 3DS soundtrack. up until this point i have been naming each track something like (8am) or (9am), because each track has represented a different time of day.

this week i challenged myself to create an intro for the album, a very short track inspired by the music that usually plays when you start up a computer! when you listen to this, imagine you've pressed the power button and are currently seeing a bunch of cool windows XP visuals flying across the screen.

Initially I wanted to make an 80s style action series intro theme for the April 2026 One Synth Challenge for Zebra3, but ended up making a score for an entry/heist scene/montage instead that's only half Zebra 3. A few of the patches are from Hybrid 3 that should be possible to recreate I spent more time on that, but the soundeffects will be quite tricky. Way to go and the clock is tickin, enjoy.

All created using UVI Falcon. 

It started with a custom patch where I did various key splits with different sounds and effects in different zones.  I then recorded a small performance on it and that somehow turned into this song!  Multiple layers of different Falcon patches were used.  You can hear the initial patch isolated at the end of the song if you're curious.

NovakTheEnjoyer had an OP-1 competition this week so I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Only stock sounds, and I challenged myself a bit and recorded most of the parts live (not the intro drums and the percs that follow). I really enjoy the tape workflow even though it can be a bit frustrating at times :)

Not much to say, I was stuck for a while, but the great thing about the M8 is that it is easy to pick and try things. At the end this was just me playing with instruments and effects without a clear idea on where to take it. But I kinda like it, both, the process and the result.

This was an uninspiring and exhausting week. So I fired up Dronage Terminal and created a patch without thinking too much about it. It came out pretty dark, much like how this week was.

I tried to use my fx pedals for the greater good this week. I programed the drum track on my hapax, and played on some kit on the Push, as well as routed through my microcosm to give the percussion some weird echoes. Ran the Bass and Guitar tracks through the Chroma Console. The Bass track has a bit of the "reverse" channel, to give it some spooky weirdness, and the Guitar has kind of a broken/stuttering tape vibe to it. All recorded/mixed/mastered on the portastudio.
