See, that's why I don't trust myself with a guitar. It's a cheery folk pop number about... I don't know, wanting a neighborhood without BEING a neighbor? Lyrics are german, › here's a translation‹ here's a translation
The downstairs neighbors are moving out
I think they're called Müller or something
I picked up a package from them, maybe 4-5 years ago
The woman in the stairwell didn't say hello
Don't think I've ever seen her around
Looks like she was heading to work, how long has she been here?
And around the corner
They're opening a community/neighborhood café
And the people there seem really chill
And I keep asking myself, passing by every day
why can't I live with people like that?
The upstairs neighbors are yelling at each other
I used to get worry about that
Today I'm like "oh, it's 7:30 again", not my problem*
I'm taking my guitar off the wall
I wonder if they can hear me sing upstairs
If so, I'm sure they're not thrilled, but I don't mind
And around the corner
They're opening a community/neighborhood café
And the people there look really happy
I should go there some time, when I feel lonely at home
But I haven't dared to go inside (just by myself)
I don't know what's up with that genre choice, it's not something I usually make or listen to, but I wrote the lyrics to that rhythm and the rest fell into place like this. The upside to a simple progression like this is that I get to have fun with vocal harmonies. Could be a little more intricate, I could've tried to tighten up the performance a little, but this was made in an afternoon, so it'll have to do.
