  • Love Yourself, From the Inside Out
We live in a culture that tells us that "thin is in" and that weight loss is always positive. In a $60 billion diet industry, we are inundated daily with ads of tall, thin, and seemingly sophisticated women.  The message implies "you too can look like this" if only you take this drink, wear these clothes, try these pills, or start this diet.  These kinds of media messages can be damaging for women and influence how we view our bodies.

In this episode of Wellness Wisdom, I interview Wendy Jensen, Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Inside Wellness to discuss the pitfalls of our diet culture and how to help women shift the way they think about themselves and their bodies.  Wendy is a mental health therapist who specializes in helping women with eating disorders to live a more connected and fulfilling life.  She guides people to "heal" negative internal dialogue about their bodies and to reject diet culture by recognizing strengths and wholeheartedly accepting themselves.

Wendy has seen how people can live a more fulfilling life when they are able to love themselves regardless of their body weight, type, or size.  She emphasizes the importance of challenging cultural messaging that supports being dissatisfied with our appearance.  We can challenge these messages and claim who we are, show gratitude for our bodies, and focus on what are bodies can do, rather than what they look like.  When we spend mental energy dieting, worrying about our weight, and beating ourselves up for imperfections, we rob ourselves of the connections and happiness we can have in our lives.

Accept yourself, embrace your strengths, and live a more connected life!

  • Energy Healing, Release What is Holding you Back
In this episode of Wellness Wisdom Camille interviews Jackie King, a Licensed Massage Therapist and Certified Emotion Code and Body Code Practitioner.  We are energy and energy is all around us.

Have you ever walked into a room and it feels “electric” with positive energy? Or been able to feel the “tension” between people in the room?  Jackie explores how aches, pains, and problems in our health, or unhappiness in relationships can often be traced to a block in energy or “trapped emotion.” Emotions become attached to the organs and systems of our body.  The body holds onto the pain when the emotions are not released.

Jackie explains how the body knows how to heal itself and that through the work of the “Emotion Code/Body Code” (Dr. Bradley Nelson) you can release trapped emotions and make a shift through magnetic energy. You can replace low vibration emotions; fear, rejection, and heartache with high vibration; love, gratitude, and forgiveness. Learn how you can create healing and balance in your body.  Release what isn't serving you and embrace what is!

Tune into this episode to learn the power of the “present” moment and tuning into your experience.  Mindfulness is a chance to focus on "being" rather than "doing."  Vicki will help us explore how we can eat, move, and do daily tasks with mindful awareness.  Learn how to hold yourself with compassion and how to be a witness to your mental patterns.

When we pay attention to our thoughts, our movements, our daily life with compassion, kindness, and curiosity we open ourselves up to a world of joy, stillness, and peace. Join us as we discuss the relationship between mindfulness and meditation.  Are you curious about how mindfulness works?  Vicki will guide us through a short “STOP” practice during this episode. Take this practice home to tune into your body and be more comfortable, at ease, and resilient to stress.

Pain is an inherent part of life, suffering is a choice.
