Alicia is recapping her visit home last weekend to see her parents and childhood friends. She talks about her experience trying weed gummies for the first time (legit the first time being high), the importance of female friendships as she gets older, a recent minor back flare up, a double tampon situation, and most importantly, a list of Non-Diet Self Care ideas! These ideas aren't deep, they're meant to be light, accessible, and something to keep in your back pocket the next time you're feeling "blah" about your body. Gentle reminder: Healthy doesn't equal dieting. There are MANY ways to care for your physical, mental, and emotional health that has nothing to do with sticking to a diet or exercise regime, cutting out food groups, or waking up at 5am to pound the pavement.

In today's episode Alicia is talking about how her cats almost gave her a heart attack when she got home from work, traveling to see her family and friends back home, and finally, the #TedTalk portion of the episode: Subtleties of Diet Mentality.
Subtleties are the sneaky ways diet culture is still forming your beliefs about food and your body, even though you're not following a prescriptive diet or regime.
ie. obsessively reading labels & ingredients, not letting yourself eat because it's not a certain time of day, & using intermittent fasting as one way to justify not eating.

In today's episode, Alicia is recapping her birthday week, a recent camping trip, and some observations she had while camping and being away from mirrors/ seeing her reflection regularly. *hint* movement is a great way to get into your body when the thoughts about your body are becoming loud and a little too frequent.
This week's mini Ted Talk is about whether or not you're prioritizing the foundational components of health: eating enough, consistent (enjoyable) movement, rest, play, sleep, etc. OR are you hyper focused on the shiny, less important aspects: supplements, meal timing, cardio before or after weights, green juices and apple cider vinegar gummies.
Reminder: there's no shame or judgement with whatever you've been prioritizing. Hopefully this episode will take some of the pressure off of feeling like you have to prioritize the shiny things.

Alicia is 2 days out from turning 32 with a black eye, and has some PSA's about cell phone etiquette, speaking freeeeeeely without being #cancelcultured, and how weird it can feel describing a day in the life of an online business owner.
Alicia is talking about how and why weight gain can be a common symptom of dieting and restricting. She also does a quick-fire segment of Intuitive Eating misconceptions--because it's not all about cake, ice cream, and cookies ya'll. (but sometimes it can be and that totally okay!)

Today's episode starts off with Alicia rambling about life, her upcoming birthday, and camping trip-enjoy!
The meat of this episode has to do with the challenges that might pop up in your intuitive eating journey. Maybe you've done a good job of turning down the external noise and ditching diets--Awesome! But there are things that commonly interfere with someones ability to trust in their internal regulators and accept how they're choosing to feed themselves now that they're no longer dieting. Let's explore these areas so that you're aware of them, maybe even anticipate, and can take them into account while you're creating a healthier relationship with food.

In this episode, Alicia talks about her relationship with movement--past and present, and how her motivation to move her body has evolved over the years from when she was "addicted" to exercise versus now.
She gives you a few questions to marinate over: "What’s your motivation to move your body right now?" and "If you feel compelled to move regardless of how you feel, how come?" Gentle reminder: If you’re resting because you’re healing your relationship with exercise/movement, that’s incredibly important--you're doing great.

In this week's episode, Alicia is exploring the concept of diet mentality, and how it might be showing up in your life. Are you internalizing the morality you tie to food? Do you have hard and fast rules when it comes to what you eat? Do you have a list of "good" and "bad" foods running through your mind when you're deciding what to eat? How would it feel if you brought some awareness to your own diet mentality and started to challenge your learned narratives around food?
Talking Points:
> Food labels.
> What is motivating your decisions?
> What is a diet?
> Are you internalizing your food labels on to yourself?
If you're interested in learning more about my new offer for ATHLETES? In the first half of this week's episode, Alicia sits down to record her thoughts, concerns, and anticipation for her upcoming camping trip. The second part of the episode is recorded after she gets back from camping, cooking over a fire, and making friends with the local wildlife. Alicia talks about what she loved, liked, and barely tolerated on her camping trip. If Patagonia is looking for a brand ambassador, she's probably not it.

On today's episode, Alicia is answering a listener/instagram follower's question: What are her Pet Peeves? Some include, slow walkers and people who don't use a turn signal when driving, the nerve! Alicia tries to counter the pet peeves (aka complaining) with an uplifting topic that some folks might find equally satisfying; plucking that dreaded dark chin hair--if you know you know. The episode wraps up with a beautifully written and deeply descriptive article by Virgie Tovar called, (Re)discovering My Love Of Food After Dieting.
