In today's episode, Alicia is reading an article about the Diet that's claims it's not a Diet: Noom. This is her first time reading it so you can expect to get her real time reactions to the lofty claims made by Noom. Noom states that its teachings are based on psychology and that it's sustainable, but once we pull back the layers, it's pretty clear that Noom is another glorified diet that knows how to manipulate people's vulnerability with catchy words and phrases.
Other topics in today's episode include:
- Puma(Alicia's cat) peeing in the bathroom sink.
- Credit card hackers.
- Britney vs Spears documentary.
- Canned cranberry sauce--riveting!

In this week's episode Alicia talks about #nationalcoffeeday and shares a clip from the cult classic, Gilmore Girls. She's cleaning out her closet, not necessarily getting rid of items that don't bring her joy, to reference Mari Kondo, but particularly clothes that she hasn't worn in over 2 years and what she plans on doing with them. She's also talking about the highs and lows of running an online business through social media and how her bursts of creativity seem to match up with her cycle.
At approx. 45:00 mins into the episode, Alicia's sharing one of the principles from Intuitive Eating, "Discover the Satisfaction Factor."
She talks about why eating foods that are pleasurable will help you find more satisfaction in your eating, and might help you eat less if that's something that you're struggling with. *The goal isn't to eat less, but to eat foods you enjoy in an inviting environment, and when you eat foods you enjoy, it usually takes less food to feel satisfied!

This week starts with Alicia sharing her thoughts on Thanksgiving vs Halloween, her most recent embarassing experience with an edible (which was also embarrassing for Ryan), and meandering through a few updates.
Alicia reads her "Ode to Carbs" and walks you through the Emotional Math of Eating:
- What is emotional math of eating?
- When is it practical in nature and when is it rooted in fear and control?
- Alicia talks through real life examples of emotional math when it comes to eating and feeding. Some of the examples are benign and functional, while others are veering towards diet mentality.
- When is the emotional math serving us? And when is it causing more chaotic eating patterns?
Alicia references Jessica Flanigan, Author of the Loving Diet and creator of Transformational Eating for Practitioners.

In this week's episode, Alicia is recapping her and Ryan's recent trip to Montreal and Quebec City. For most of the episode she's reading from her real-time recaps that she wrote while on the trip, but of course, interjects her real time thoughts, feelings and emotions. Yes, she cries, more than once. Thanks for being here <3

The first 10 minutes of the show starts with Alicia recapping last weekend, kids going back to school, which of course brought back memories of school picture day, and then leads into the main topic: GROCERY SHOPPING. Alicia talks about the differences between unrealistic grocery shopping, aka grocery shopping in diet mentality VS realistic grocery shopping, aka when you're connected to your body's natural rhythms, cravings, hunger and fullness.

In this episode Alicia is talking through a question she got in her DM's: How to stop romanticizing the "lean" body type and macro counting? Alicia gives you her thoughts, personal anecdotes, and some questions to consider. She also reads and breaks down an Instagram post she saw re: the "perfect body."
The episode closes out with a weekend update and a little recap of the comedy show she went to last week!

In the first half of today's episode, Alicia is chatting about her early start to a Saturday, weekend plans, Stool-kit sample results (TMI?), Lululemon manikins, and a topic she heard on the Joe Rogan podcast, #JRE.
In the second half, Alicia is sharing with you some of the negative impacts over-exercising can have on your health, especially when paired with chronic stress, under-eating, and even trying to mimic professional athlete's training and eating regimens.

Alicia's fresh off getting a massage, she's feeling relaxed and ready to recap her weekend, talk about 4-day work weeks, and how lucky she feels to have health benefits after not having them for 8 years. In the second half of the episode she gets into food prepping as an Intuitive Eater. Alicia believes that it takes a healthy amount of effort to feed yourself and others. Intuitive eating is rooted in present moment decisions where you're sinking into your body's hunger and fullness cues, asking yourself what foods sound good, and what foods you enjoy! When you're able to have some food prepped and ready to go, it's much easier to eat intuitively and care for yourself with nourishing foods in the house. (or ordering take-out--it's all valid!) Nothing that Alicia talks about today is meant to be prescriptive. Please keep in mind these 3 components when it comes to feeding yourself: Flexibility, Satisfaction, and Pleasure :)

Alicia is answering listener questions from instagram:
- if she could only eat 1 type of cuisine for the rest of her life?
- how did her and Ryan meet?
- what show(s) is she watching?
- where did she get her bubbas (cats) from?
- where does she want to travel to next?
- when did she know she wanted to make peace with food?
She also talks about how we're so conditioned to feel like we have to "earn" our food, rest days, and even dessert. Alicia is inviting you to think about WHY you feel like you have to “earn” food, rest, and time off? Diet culture thrives off of people feeling like they’re “lazy” or “letting themselves go.” This massive industry stays alive by people (esp. women) doubting their need for rest, second guessing whether they should or shouldn’t eat something, and never feeling good enough in the skin they’re in.
