  • trust vs. (false) control--learn & feel the difference!

Got a question? Send me a text! :)

Today's episode is exploring the topic of trust vs. a false sense of control when it comes to how you feed yourself. Trust allows you to honour your autonomy and settle into your relationship with food in way that feels easeful and flexible. Control(dieting), is what you gravitate towards when you lack self-trust. Alicia talks about why someone might lack trust in how they feed themselves, and a few suggestions for how you can learn to implement trust so that you can eat with competence, flexibility, and ease.
As always, the episode starts out with a recap of Alicia's weekend and a new offer for ATHLETES, or athletes transitioning from competition to life after sport. She talks about who this program is for, what you'll learn, and if you're interested, how you can learn more!

  • social media & how toxic fitness culture affects body image

Got a question? Send me a text! :)

On today's episode, Alicia is talking about how social media, specifically following fitness influencers, can affect your body image and the societal beauty standards. She defines what body image actually means, and how diversifying your social media feed can improve how you feel about your body and other bodies.
Alicia reads through 3 different articles that dive into  "The dark side of Instagram: When Fitness Culture Goes Wrong"  and one article from a CrossFit Blog titled, "There IS Such a Thing As a Perfect Body."  These articles highlight how Instagram and Toxic Fitness culture can start to erode your body image by keeping the focus on aesthetics, and turn health promoting behaviours like movement and eating nutrient dense foods into an obsessive pursuit of the "perfect body."

Here's a study on Social Media, Thin-Ideal, Body Dissatisfaction and Disordered Eating.

This week, Alicia is taking a shallow dive into the glamorization of online business and side hustles that you often see on social media. She's also recapping a few events from last weekend, including her first ever nude beach experience which leads into a thoughtful discussion about body love vs body liberation.

  • have you hit your dieting ceiling?

Got a question? Send me a text! :)

This week's episode kicks off with Alicia touching on all sorts of things that don't necessarily tie together, ie. sharing her Spotify Playlists, her love for WWF as a child, and that one time she thought becoming a Police officer was her true calling.  Hopefully these light topics will keep you interested until she gets to the meat of the episode --how do you know when you've hit your dieting ceiling?  What does it mean and potentially look like, and a few suggestions you can start to dip your toes into if it feels doable!

  • over-exercising- my story

Got a question? Send me a text! :)

Join Alicia for a trip down memory lane where she talks about how her relationship with exercise and movement has evolved over the years.  From starting her fitness journey at 14 years old, to competing at the CrossFit games 3x, and using exercise as punishment to earn her food, Alicia talks through her highs and lows, and how she restored a healthy and relaxed relationship with movement.
If you're feeling guilty for missing a workout, having a hard time taking a rest day, or not seeing results, even though you continue to push your body, please reach out.  I work 1:1 with women to peel back the layers surrounding their relationship with exercise and food.
We talk about the REAL reason you're afraid to rest your body, and the WHY and HOW you've been using exercise to earn food. The goal is to have a  flexible and enjoyable relationship with movement!

  • 4 types of hunger + stream of consciousness about a *hot topic*

Got a question? Send me a text! :)

This week, Alicia is diving into the 4 types of hunger.  Did you know there are more ways to experience hunger than physical hunger?  Today, you'll learn about Physical, Taste, Practical, and Emotional hunger, and how they might show up in your life.
The episode starts with 18 mins of a stream of consciousness, hopefully you can enjoy the ride, take what resonates, and respectfully leave what doesn't.  As a reminder: Opinions are not an ideology, opinions evolve and change, and that's what makes human beings so wonderfully complexed :)
    As always, #youdoyou.

This week, Alicia is dipping her toes into a variety of unrelated topics.  Starting with a quick recap of her time in Whistler last weekend,  the nostalgic scent of warm vanilla sugar, Period Panties, how do you know when you've 'made it?', camping--specifically where do you poop when there's no toilet, her poorly behaved cats, and her skin care routine including products and treatments! Overall this episode is light-hearted and will hopefully keep you company for 58 minutes--Enjoy!
