On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) get it started by sharing their thoughts on Aaron Judge's decision to re-sign with the New York Yankees. While both guys agree it ultimately made sense for both parties for Judge to stay in the Bronx, they disagree on whether or not the Yankees should have been willing to give him such a lengthy deal. Would it have it made more to offer him a shorter deal with a higher average annual value? And if so, are we sure Judge would have even accepted it? Speaking of negotiations, it's clear this season won't help Lamar Jackson in his quest for a fully-guaranteed contract from the Baltimore Ravens. If Jackson really wants to secure the bag he's going to need a desperate suitor (a la the San Diego Padres for Judge) that might force the Ravens' hand. With that in mind, the guys have four NFL teams that they believe might be willing to push all-in on Lamar this upcoming offseason. Later, J-Mac and Rob discuss Baker Mayfield's NFL future after getting claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Rams. Jason argues that Mayfield and the Rams could play spoiler down the stretch and thus rehabilitate his image around the League, while Rob believes Mayfield will fall flat on his face and ultimately be out of the NFL altogether after the season. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show with the Thursday Night Football (Rams vs. Raiders) edition of the Best Bet.
