What Is Humans? episodes

  • Energy Vampires

Energy vampires are any person or thing in your life that zaps the energy not only out of the room but out of your life.

As we navigate different facets of life from work to acquaintances there are often unavoidable obstacles, the important definer is noticing what gives and what takes away from our energy.

Take time to reflect on your own life and think about the ways you can identify and approach energy vampires, often as most things the solution is internal rather than external.

  • Cancel Culture

Cancel Culture has been in existence since the beginning of man. The invention of social media has once again offered a new way for humans to criticize one another with little room for discussion.

Rather than exile those with complicated pasts or views it is important now more than ever to seek answers instead of hiding behind insecurities that we maybe harbor ourselves.

Listen in today and think about forgiveness, reconciliation and forward progress...potentially the only way any of us move forward from any traumatic event.

  • Assumptions and Expectations

Assume-”suppose to be the case, without proof.” That is the definition of assumption in the dictionary, specifically without proof.

Today we look at the breakdown in communication that comes from assuming something about others or something about ourselves. We become so used to daily occurrences and actions that people take in our lives that we often don’t ask why they do them.

Often we assume others will take action or help us without asking if they can/will first, maybe because it's quicker, but oftentimes it stems from a fear that they won’t.

  • Ego

What is the Id, Ego and Superego and where does it show up in your life? Can you have a healthy ego or is it the enemy?

Today Dennis and Shane talk about their battles with ego and where it has shown up in their own lives. Through swapping stories they realize how much of lives and decisions have been dictated by allowing the ego to take the driver's seat.

We hope by listening today you can relate to some of our stories we shared and maybe it gives you the opportunity to think about your own ego.

  • Biomimicry

Have you ever wondered how basic inventions were created? Those of sonar technology that powers telephones or radio waves, the utensils we use to eat and drink everyday, and other overlooked items.

Today Shane and Dennis take a look at nature as the origin for most if not all of human beings' inventions. These range on all different levels and will certainly have you looking around in the backyard to see what next great invention is lying in the trees or at your feet.

Be mindful while listening to the ways that we can observe the natural world around us and learn and mimic it’s behaviors from plants to animals as well.

  • Food Is Medicine

Shane and Dennis discuss the idea of food as a natural medicine for our bodies from similar and differing viewpoints.

Shane believes in a plant based diet and has practiced that for over three years now, and firmly believes in the healing power of not only food for weight loss but other killers like heart disease, stroke, etc.

Dennis tries to offer a differing viewpoint as he has practiced plant based eating with Shane as well, but does not currently practice like Shane.

Listen as Shane and Dennis discuss the benefits of a plant based diet, the way to start and the challenges that are associated with trying something different that is such a necessity.

  • Social Media

Looking at their own use of social media and how it has personally affected their lives. Dennis and Shane question if these tools are tools.

By taking a look at the nature of social media, how they profit, the very language used and much more, Dennis and Shane look to see if these are valuable to them and ask if there are better ways to engage with them.

We hope that listening today doesn’t give you the answers, but helps you to start asking better questions.
