The Uncaged Clinician

What is it Like Being A Pathway Student? with Kelsey Harris

Listen Later

As a healthcare professional, don't you ever wonder if there's a better way to care for your clients with the utmost level of dignity and compassion? You are there to help the client achieve their best self. Are you ready for this great task?

This week Uncaged Clinicians, Kevin DeGroot goes solo to interview our guest and current Pathway Program Student, Kelsey Harris. They will be talking about What is like to be a Pathway student? Who is the Pathway Program for?

Kelsey Harris achieved her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2016 from Duquesne University. She achieved a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences from Duquesne University in 2014. Kelsey has passionately spent the majority of her career treating the neurologic population, with a specialization in stroke recovery. Kelsey is certified in NDT (Neuro-Developmental Treatment), a hands-on approach that allows clients to use the right muscles, at the right time, to make their daily tasks easier.

They will touch on such topics as:

  • How the neuroplasticity patients are being underserved in the healthcare system.
  • One of the best ways to achieve success is to be part of a consistent community. A community that has the same vision and values as you, that way you can learn how to improve yourself.
  • When you know how to understand your community and their needs, you can empower them to better understand their illness and participate in their own recovery.
  • How she UNCAGED herself from the broken system of Healthcare and provided better care.
  • You're not just providing services - you're providing hope. You've given them the belief that there is an answer to their problem and you are the only one who can solve it. And this is something money can't buy.
  • The longer you wait, the fewer people you’ll be helping.
  • It's time to get over the fear and start doing something now. Start investing for yourself and your future.
