  • Sonya Behan on Not Staying In Broken Places

Sonya Behan grew up in a small New England town and in a family where domestic violence were present weekly. As she worked through her childhood trauma of not being a witness to violence, but becoming a survivor of it as an adult, she realized she was not alone and that she had a deep reservoir of resilience and hope.

Throughout her life she has consistently dedicated herself to helping others. Beginning in high-school, she participated in a number of programs and services that provided support to other teens struggling with teen pregnancy, suicide, bullying and abuse in their homes. Always, wanting to turn the lessons she learned from her interpersonal challenges, to pay it forward.

For three decades she has been a Social Worker. She earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work at Simmons College, is a certified Life Coach in Therapeutic Art and has over a decade of experience in Holistic Health and is Reiki Master Teacher.

Sonya has also been an Art Coordinator for two local Recreation Department for the past few years, designing several of the classes and this year designed and launched their first summer art camp program. She also, has taught art classes throughout the Milwaukee, WI area in an after-school program, as well as in Assisted Living and Memory Care units.

She is published author of the book: Meant To Dance and has been a guest speaker and group facilitator for a number of organizations to promote health and wellness, as well as helping others re-write their stories and reclaim the lives they have always wanted.

Throughout Sonya’s life it is clear to see that there have been three core pillars that have been her compass: Helping others, Art, and Writing.

They have been in every aspect of her life.

  • Author Micki Abels Speaks on Healing From Trauma, Finding Truth & Seeking Transformation

Micki Abels published her first non-fiction work, My Soul Contract, A Teaching Memoir of Trauma, Truth, and Transformation in 2021. Micki’s love of writing can only be surpassed by her love of being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She and her husband reside in rural Illinois where they raised their two sons.

Micki was propelled to discover her passion following an emotionally traumatic family event. During that transitional time, she kept journals of her experiences. Those journals turned into her teaching memoir with the specific intention to help others who have experienced trauma, betrayal and loss.

As she began to believe in a purposeful life, Micki learned to trust her inner wisdom and developed tools and techniques to pay attention to all things physical and metaphysical.

Micki quenched her desire to help others by becoming a certified transformational life coach and meditation instructor in 2019.

Call her a hippie, and you've entered her world and her heart. Micki enjoys all genres of music and loves to dance. She loves the practice of yoga and meditation. She welcomes time in nature, allowing her bare feet to connect to the earth. She loves her solitude and spending time with friends and family equally. A perfectly relaxing day includes a body of water, a crackling fire, and a good book.

  • Kristy Baranovskis on Klean Eating, Kitchen Confidence & How She Is Helping You Use Your Voice & Become Empowered

From the time I can remember, I struggled with food. Food was the center of our family gatherings growing up. Over time, food became a comfort and also what I turned to when I was bored. The problem was the food I turned to was empty in calories and void of nutritional value.

Sometimes you have an “ah-ha” moment.
Mine happened on my 30th birthday while visiting my brother. I clearly remember standing on his deck, thinking that I did not want to eat like this any longer! Something had to change! I was so unhappy with myself. I was unhappy with the way I felt. I was unhappy with the example I was setting for my daughter.
