  • 3-Second Test That Predicts Healthspan Better than Biomarkers

This series explores how you can reliably measure your healthspan based on research of over 700,000 subjects over 5 decades using simple functional tests across the 5 domains of physical and cognitive function.

In a study of 140,000+ people across 17 countries, researchers discovered this 3-second grip strength test predicted heart attack, stroke, and early death better than blood pressure measurements.

It subsequently was found to be the earliest predictor of healthspan.

    What you'll learn:

    - How to perform the standardized grip strength test at home
    - Why grip strength reveals your entire body's aging process
    - The connection between grip strength and sarcopenia (muscle loss)
    - The neuromuscular connection—it's not simply muscle strength
    - How to interpret your results using age-specific percentile charts

Your grip contains 34 muscles connected to your entire neuromuscular system. When grip strength declines, it signals that muscle mass, bone density, and nervous system function are all declining together.
    🎯 Key Timestamps:
0:52 - How to perform the test properly
1:52 - Why grip predicts aging acceleration
4:44 - How to interpret your results with percentile charts
6:17 - What your score means for healthspan

  • Brain Healthspan - Choose the Brain You Want with Mike Studer PhD

Gameify your brain at every age. It's why some things are fun to learn and why brain healthspan is often more fun than exercise.

Cognitive Reserve explains why, despite physical aging, some people's brains remain sharp, even into old age. Neuroplasticity is exercise for the brain, but instead of building muscle, it builds neural connections—the circuitry in your brain. Age doesn't define when it stops,  you do. It's actively waiting to build new connections at any age.

Mike Studer, PhD joins us for a fast-paced hour of tips and tricks on training your brain in ways that are fun and engaging. Want to feel like a kid again? You'll feel those thoughts coming back and what's behind them.

  • Turning the Tide on Chronic Disease - CMS Medicare Big Experiment - Yuri Sudhakar

New Medicare funding model could move from sick care to building healthspan.

This WHEALTHSPAN Podcast episode explores how #lifestyle #medicine can transform #healthcare in the wake of CMS’s decision to fund lifestyle‑based models for chronic disease starting in 2026. The conversation with Nudj Health CEO, Yuri Sudhakar, unpacks how targeted changes in nutrition, activity, sleep, stress, and social connection can prevent, treat, and in some cases reverse cardiometabolic diseases, shifting care from reactive “sick care” to proactive healthspan. The episode highlights what it will take for clinicians and health systems to operationalize lifestyle medicine—integrating multidisciplinary teams, remote support, and meaningful measurement—so that evidence‑based lifestyle interventions become a routine part of everyday care, not a bolt‑on or afterthought.

  • AI Impact on Financial Planning - Change is Coming Fast for Planners and Consumers

Chris Heye, PhD, is my guest on this informative conversation on how AI is about to collide with the financial planning industry and what that might mean for your retirement account.

Dr. Heye has been a pioneer in this area since MIT graduate school. He's lived the experience and seen families lose millions, and what that means to the individuals and the companies involved.

There is rising instability -- boiling the frog, as he puts it. Many are in for some big surprises as the industry heads into uncharted waters.

Stay close to this one. We'll plan to have Chris back again to check the pulse and adjust course as needed.

  • Longevity Risk Financial Planning 2.0 - It's Time to Get Real

Start asking your financial planner better questions, because chances are, they aren't offering up the information you really need.

The financial industry has been talking about Longevity Risk for a few years, and so you might think they've got you covered. I'm sorry to report that longevity risk is more of a marketing term than anything of substance when it comes to financial planners.

Always on the lookout for planners who genuinely care about their clients' long-term future and understand all that is involved, I was delighted to discover Eliot Weissberg, CFP®, a Branch Manager with Raymond James Financial Services and President of The Investors Center. Eliot raises up important questions that you can and should be getting answers to.
