Architect Aaron Murphy explains how many of us have got $500k hiding in our homes.
After age 50, health and housing will cost more than everything else combined for most of us. Optimal outcomes demands an informed strategy designed around your unique needs and values.
Builders are still building the same old way, even though today's needs have changed significantly. Informed buyers are taking a lifespan perspective, calling for features that aren't found in most of today's homes.
Aaron Murphy has been on the leading edge of better home designs for several years. What is possible now, at no extra cost, will surprise you!

In this insightful episode, Prof. Scott Fulton sits down with Dr. Sue Paul to explore the cutting edge of brain health and aging well. They open by debunking persistent myths—like the idea that cognitive decline is purely genetic or an inevitable part of aging—setting the stage for a conversation grounded in optimism and science.
Dr. Paul shares details about Kinnections, a cognitive health intervention program she developed for Asbury’s senior living communities. Built on evidence-based principles, Kinnections uses movement, novelty, and personalized cognitive assessments to help participants maintain or even improve brain function. With activities like boxing, Tai Chi, dance, and rock climbing, the program intentionally focuses on challenge over mastery—activating neuroplasticity in fun, engaging ways.
More than 90% of participants, including those with mild cognitive impairment, have shown stable or improved scores.
The conversation also touches on the struggle to motivate individuals who don’t yet see signs of decline and the broader need to create environments that support cognitive wellness before a crisis arises.
Dr. Paul also introduces SeniorScapes, a park project designed to make outdoor fitness and cognitive stimulation accessible to all ages.
Together, Scott and Sue champion a proactive, possibility-driven approach to brain health and aging.

My guest this week is Colin Milner. Colin is uniquely positioned at the intersection of health and housing, enabling us to have a special conversation on an important topic that nearly everyone overlooks.
Colin is CEO of the International Council on Active Aging and is well-known in senior living circles across the globe. We discuss the challenges and new opportunities arising in health and housing that will shape the vision you are looking to create.
Everyone complains that seniors don't plan nearly enough. While that's true, it's also true that we often fail to provide them with the necessary information to enable better planning that leads to more appealing outcomes.
Colin's been at this a long time, and we take the gloves off. Bubblewrapping people doesn't work. Colin's views on this and all things healthspan, longevity, and aging are insightful.

VO2 Max is about more than exercise. Arguably, the mitochondrial benefit is at least as important as the cardiovascular benefits. Combined with nutrition, they help explain why VO2 Max is such a powerful predictor of healthspan and longevity.
Dr. Mark Tarnopolsky, MD, PhD, isn't just a top researcher and clinician; he's also been an elite athlete for over 40 years. He's been putting his theories to the test with himself and thousands of patients, and his findings are remarkable.
Our conversation covers a lot of ground and touches on a lot of topics you'll want to know more about.

What if you could reverse-engineer your life? You'd want to learn as much as you could from a doctor who has devoted a career to accompanying people in their final years, months, weeks, days, and hours. All the distractions of daily life vanish, and suddenly life and its meaning become crystal clear.
Doctor Greg Andreas, MD, shares rare insights learned from helping others look back on their long lives. The things that bring comfort can be surprising, and the things that consume our thoughts today can be remarkably unimportant.
His views on healthspan and longevity are deeply grounded in meaning and purpose, and have guided the choices he's made in his life's adventure.

Where you live matters a lot, and it's much more than just a zip code.
Ryan Frederick has spent his career studying why where we live has such a strong influence on our healthspan, longevity, and lifespan outcomes.
Are you in the right place now? What about for your future self? It's something we all think about but tend not to know if, when, or how to act on our hunches. Needs change, and it's vitally important that we are in the right place if we expect aspirations to become
Ryan has developed a novel, surprisingly straightforward process that people can use to discover how well their current or future home aligns with their current and future values.

Decades before most of us had ever heard of VO2 Max, Dan Zeman was testing world-class pro athletes and olympians' fitness in his sports lab. Today, many who own a smartwatch are also getting informed of their VO2 Max. Is it the same?
If you've been paying any attention, you also know that fitness is a strong predictor of healthspan and longevity. What does that actually mean, and why?
Dan and I have had countless discussions on aspects and implications of VO2 Max over the years, and it seemed like the world was ready to sit in on a deeper conversation that would speak to more than just a number. There's no one more knowledgeable and experienced to speak to the subject than Dan Zeman.
Dan is the author of "You're Too Old to Die Young" https://a.co/d/4RFkOlY and has a longtime association with the music industry.
Thanks for stopping in and hope you enjoy the show.
