We all know what thirst feels like—a parched mouth on a hot summer day. But sometimes, our spirits feel just as dry. We try to pray or read Scripture, but the words feel empty. Our hearts feel distant from God, and we begin to wonder, Why am I not feeling anything?
If that’s you tonight, take heart—you’re not alone. Even David confessed he felt “in a dry and weary land where there is no water” (Psalm 63:1). The good news? Jesus anticipated our spiritual thirst and offered the only true solution: Himself.
In John 7, during the Festival of the Tabernacles, Jesus declared that anyone who is thirsty should come to Him and drink. He promised that rivers of living water—the Holy Spirit—would flow from within those who believe. That promise is for you today.
When you feel spiritually dry, you don’t need to strive harder or perform better. You need to come to Jesus, rest in His presence, and allow His Spirit to refresh your soul. His living water never runs dry.
📖 Tonight’s Scripture: John 7:38
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

🙏 Your Nightly Prayer
Father,
I come to You tonight, thirsty and weary. My soul longs for Your living water. Fill me with Your Spirit, and renew my heart with Your love and presence. Even when I don’t feel it, help me trust that You are near and at work within me. Thank You for promising rivers of living water to flow in my life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon
Reflect on Psalm 63:1—David’s cry for God in a dry and weary land. How does this prayer mirror your own longing?
Remember Romans 8:26: when you don’t know what to pray, the Spirit intercedes for you with wordless groans.
Sit quietly with God tonight. Picture Jesus sitting with you. Let His presence be enough.
