Appalachian hills to high-finance, high-fashion and high satisfaction

Reminding me of Barbara Taylor Bradford's Woman of Substance, E.G. Lewis's Promises starts in the coal-towns of the Appalachian hills and follows the life of a struggling young woman from high school to high society. Strip mines have torn the landscape. Strip mine owners have broken her family. But Mary Jane has good looks and fierce determination. She won't let anyone use her, from the handsome school sports star to the eager wheeler-dealers of New York modeling, and she makes her own way forwards until she falls. Then she gets up again.

The detail in this novel is fascinating, from wounded landscape to "nipple covers" worn when it's chilly on stage. This is the ultimate cliff hanger lol. The best written mystery love story with a twist of fairytale and a gut feeling of darkness. Can't wait to read the next step in her adventure

Clara met Robert when his car broke down. There are questions as to why she isn't aloud out. See what happens.

Nah

This struck me as rather juvenile -- perhaps for teenagers? The story plodded along with the idea of a supposedly sickly young woman who is perhaps being kept hidden by her family.

Is her health really delicate? Who is the woman in the photograph? Is she really the elder daughter in this family?

I didn't get involved enough in this first installment - and it is merely an installment -- to want to purchase the rest.

The story is intriguing it has a nice easy flow to it. The story kept me interested to the very end. The mystery goes on but it keeps getting more interesting my the minute. I enjoyed reading this.

A sweet, fairly short, feel good book!

I was given this audio book in exchange an honest review. This was a very pleasing story. It's the story of Cassie, a very busy business woman who also happens to be raising her dead sister's six children. She meets Trent on one of the projects she's working on. He jumps to the conclusion that she is an unwed mother of children from different men. He's a man who never wants a wife and kids, but he's strangely drawn to her and her children. Could there be a future for them?

This story kept my attention and I really enjoyed it. I had a little bit of an issue with the narration. It seemed unnatural until I thought to speed it up slightly. Then it was much easier to listen to.

It was good. I loved Geno

Ummmmmm. I left this with no rating (on goodreads) because I'm not sure what to rate it. But I've forced to give a star rating on Amazon... So I came up with 3 Stars because it was said to be "It's Okay".

I love single parent books.

The thing is... There wasn't really a lot of romance. (In my opinion. I just didn't feel it.)

There was so much going on in there their lives that it took over the story and didn't focus on their budding relationship.

A Year with Geno

Carolyn Taylor first finds a best friend in Air Force sergeant Geno DâAntoni and then spends A Year with Geno and his two sons learning to trust, finding support and falling in love with Geno. It is heartfelt romance where two single parents learn to support and help each other raise their sons. You have to love a Basset Hound named Bear that live in Alaska and inserts himself into every part of the family's lives.

Alaska.. What an amazing year for Caroline & Geno

Enjoyed the book, characters, plot. Felt the on-line dating part was all negative, but I have no personal experience to contradict the story. Loved Geno and his relationship with his sons and Caroline's sons. Being a retired nurse, would have enjoyed that area delved into more. Over-all, most enjoyable book.

This book had so much potential, but it didn't quite meet the mark for me. The last quarter of the book was rushed and parts of the story appeared to be left out. Shame, as upon that I was enjoying it

I thought I knew what I was getting in the latest release from Pavarti K. Tyler, I love her writing and approach to a story with her characters, so I knew it would be a good read, What I did not expect was to be blown away by the characters, to find a sense of nobility and purpose in their decisions or to find the erotic components to be squirm in your seat hot. How can you not love a story when you read âher restraint pulls taut and breaks â the rope of her submission weak against the strength of her desire.â

Janice Cane is the proprietress of the Sugar House, a bordello where the clients are rich, protected and background checked. Catering to men and women, her âbroodâ is loyal and well-cared for: from medical to security needs. Completely and unapologetically in control, her one lapse is the addiction she has to speed dating.

I didnât think that I could like Janice as much as I did: in fact I rather loved her. Her comfort with her business and her moments of self-doubt in her thoughts about Salt after meeting him gave her a sense of optimism and hope, even as she shot the ideas down with more pragmatic concerns regarding her past history and current means of support.

Devon Salzmann was intriguing: worldly yet nave, determined to make an impression but ultimately at that point where sex comes too easily and boredom is omnipresent. Used to getting what he wants, and not finding much intrigue in the easy, he starts a campaign of teasing Janice to achieve another conquest, hardly expecting that he would be on the losing end of their verbal jousts.

Mixing in some incredibly steamy sex scenes that are enhanced by the perspectives given by the points of view from these two experienced and faded characters, the scenes are fantasy inducing moments of spice that are graphic but so utterly in the moment that you hardly notice until you are wiping your brow.

More secondary characters fill out this slice of life story, bringing with them their own histories, scars and depth of loyalty to Janice and her business. Conversations are as if overheard, loyalties and attachments are clearly displayed, and the characters are all people that you want to know more about, and hope for their safety, and cheer on their decisions when they eliminate a particularly nasty client.

It's taken me a long time to listen to this audio book, mainly because of problems with my audible account. But I finally got them resolved and I'm so glad that I got to listen to this.

First of all let me give the narrator a full house of applause. Jon Filipko's narration was faultless. He has such a dreamy, sensual tone to his voice that pulls you in and keeps you listening right from the book title to the final words 'the end.' He was able to mimic the female characters as well as different male characters making it easy for me to picture them all in my head. I'm looking forward to more books with his narration.

About the story itself, my response is wow! As I mentioned already once I started listening, I just couldn't put this down. I practically ignored everyone else in the house for the 2 hours it took me to listen to this. Aren't headsets a wonderful invention? *grins*

Seriously this is a fabulous scifi interpretation of a fairy tale about arranged marriages, and mistaken identity. Even in a quick listen like this, it's packed with great characters, sizzling romance and thrilling action. This story has put this author in my must-read list. I loved this story so much I've just pre-ordered her upcoming 1Night Stand box set. I know you'll love it too. Go and grab your copy. A Fabulous audiobook.

Sexy Space Fairytale

I liked this twist on a fairytale. It wasn't as dirty as I thought it would be & I would have preferred to have a woman narrate Rosa's POV but aside from that I thought it was an interesting spin. There was tension and suspense, laughter and sexy bits. This was my first audiobook so I wasn't sure what to expect. I enjoyed it.

Good story

I loved the fantasy of this book. Although it was a novella, you get a mostly complete story with great detail. We have Earth dying and a princess from a foreign land who is said will save Earth upon her arrival. From the details of the other land to the fated marriage this is a great read. I liked the bits of angst built in of forbidden love while they lasted.

As far as the narration, I am not crazy about him. I think that I would have much rather read than audio'd this one!

4 Holiday Loves

I really enjoyed these stories. It is 4 stories by 4 wonderful authors. You have Ten Minutes For Christmas by Jennifer Conner featuring Every & Logan, Forget-Me-Not Christmas by Natalie ANicole Bates featuring Jorie & Kyle, Mistletoe In The City by Amber Daulton featuring Krista & Derek, and Promiscuous Christmas by Sharon Kleve featuring Annie & Jack. I love how all 4 stories come together as 1. All 4 girls meet at a Farmers Market just before the holidays. If you are looking for something steamy & romantic this is the one to get.

The first three stories get three stars but the fourth was more like two stars. I liked that the first three were all renewed relationships that finally worked as the characters gained some maturity. I didn't like how casually they all took sex. The fourth story I didn't care for at all.

Sizzling, Hot, and over Boiling.

This collection was a surprise to me. An Excellent story, but the sexual content was too explicit for my taste, but I should have read more reviews before I bought it. I finished this book because of the story, and skipped some parts. It was free to me, or I'd be wanting my money back.
