We gathered in the pod-shed to reminisce about the past year, our memorable guests, and moving onward and upward. Thank you for listening to all our ramblings and shenanigans! All the best in 2023!
The Backcountry Brewing beverages were responsibly enjoyed!
Diana popped into the pod-shed to discuss her Battle of the Business project to support Community Christmas Cares, how to help people in need this time of year, our holiday traditions, favourite Christmas movies, and of course loads of Backcountry Brewing beverages were responsibly enjoyed!
Here we go WYAB season 2!
We are taking a little hiatus so we can dive into the local election. We try not to get too political on this podcast, so we've relaunched the Sea2SkyPodcast to discuss the issues facing our community. We've got a whole lot of candidates coming on the podcast so check out -> sea2skypodcast.com
The pod-shed was too frikin hot to record in so we chatted with Squamish born and raised, hunting advocate, and former CFL player Joe Eppele outside on the deck. We talk about what it means to hunt ethically, understand where our food comes from, being a new dad, life back in the ol' Squamish days, how expensive home are today, and of course FOOTBALL!

This time we recorded on Fryer's deck because it was too frikin hot in the pod-shed and reminisced about the Squamish Constellation Music Festival last weekend - we were very fortunate to have interviewed The Lowdown Brass Band (4:01), Old Soul Rebel (15:47), Pharis & Jason Romero (27:17), and The Hyenas (41:28) so check it out! Oh, and don't forget about Loggers Sports this weekend...
Embodying the energy & ferocity of their animal namesake, Hyaenas is a new Indie Rock band breaking into the Canadian music scene. Their music is written through a queer feminist lens - exploring themes from acceptance to vigilance; celebrating nature, self-worth, and social justice. Their sound draws inspiration from 80’s icons The Go-Go’s to modern day Indie darlings Warpaint, and synth-pop power quartet Metric.
Mike Skrypnek is in the shed this week to discuss growing up in Calgary, from athlete to successful businessman and prolific author, until depression and suicidal thoughts pushed him to seek help. That healing has inspired him to step into the light and take up the cause to normalize the narrative around men's mental health, and that we all should seek the help we need or to provide a safe space for those who may need to reach out to their loves ones. A musician known to be a cross between an opera singer and a Husquavarna chainsaw, Cat Madden, stopped by the shed to chat about her story, music, current exploits - putting together The Local's Festival (Sept.3) and part of The Constellation Festival team - and how she really feels about today's music scene. Check out www.catmmadden.com
Longtime Squamish resident & local media legend, Councilor John French, stopped by the shed where of course we talked politics (*cough* Squamish Voices *cough cough*) it's an election year after all. We also chatted about his days on Mountain FM, writing for the Squamish Chief, working for LNG, and being on council.
