  • #46 Flat Earth Quantum Computers - Krishnan Nath

Software engineer Krishnan Nath is back in the studio today to help me understand why the Earth is a Globe rather than a flat plane...

And also to explain the 'shady stuff' going on with Quantum Computing, and exactly how long we have left before they destroy all the internet/digital security protocols we currently use.

Are we going full Terminator/Skynet? Are we going Children of Men? Do we finally agree on the 'shape' of Earth...

    Tune in to find out!

  • #45 BJJ for Mental Health - Open Corner - Eddie Goff

Eddie Goff joined me in the studio today to talk about Open Corner.

Having suffered with mental Health challenges over many years and hitting Rock Bottom more than once Eddie found JiuJitsu which helped him to find meaning that he had been missing and change his life.

At the start of 2023 a serious knee injury took Eddie off the JiuJitsu mats and having always wanted to do something to help other people with Mental Health issues Eddie took the opportunity to start OpenCorner - a charity he has set up to provide people with mental health issues access to JiuJitsu, MMA, boxing and kickboxing sessions, free of change as a supplement or alternative to other therapies.

As Eddie said sometimes you're so low you can't even talk to somebody but being able to go to a place where people know your name and have some physical contact and companionship could make all the difference in the world

OpenCorner is a huge project with even bigger implications for our beloved Jiujitsu and wider society. In its early stages Eddie needs support from the JiuJitsu Community to get it up and running. He announced the GO DATE on the show, so listen in and PLEASE do share this episode with EVERYONE.

This may be the most important Episode I've Done and the CALL TO ACTION IS REAL AND IMPORTANT.

Get involved and help OpenCorner to flourish. Lets show the whole world the Power of JiuJitsu...

  • #44 Microdosing Mushies - Daz

This week Daz joined me in the Studio for a fascinating conversation about Micro Dosing Psilocybin (Magic) Mushrooms

Necessity, it is said, is the Mother of all invention and Daz found the magic of microdosing in a period of his life where he was stuck in a bad relationship, alcohol dependent and overweight. His journey back to health and happiness via microdosing is a powerful testament to the benefits and power of the protocol that he developed.

He now provides a comprehensive service to help other people experience the benefits of the 'medicine' which we discussed in detail on the episode.

    The Show

Back by popular demand. Ed Ingamells is on the show again this week to talk in more detail about the emergent and super powerful learning theory he is using.

Based on cutting edge Ecological Dynamics, he detailed his current theories and practices on teaching grappling/BJJ and how the results have been, and i quote 'Terrifying'

Ed breaks down EXACTLY how he constructed and uses his model. The 4 rules he uses. Specific examples of techniques and how a class could look.

I think he really does give a broad blueprint for both coaches and students to structure their training for better efficiency and massively accelerated learning.

If you really wanna expand your mental model and your training model this Episode will light the fuse...

  • BONUS EPISODE Don't Forget Me - The Eddie Cochran Story - Vince Eager and Kirsty Bell

This was an impromptu, serendipitous grab and go episode with British Rock and Roller - Vince Eager and Director Kirsty Bell, who happened to be in the studio shooting an interview for the upcoming Official Documentary on the life, music and influence of Eddie Cochran called Don't Forget Me.

Born Ray Edward Cochran - 'Eddie' died after a tragic car accident on Easter Sunday April 17th 1960 in Bath Somerset - on his way to meet Vince and fly back to the USA where they planned to record together. He was just 21 years old.

His music, however lives on and many tracks are instantly recognisable. His musical influence on so many iconic names from Bowie to the Rolling Stones, Led Zeplin to Paul McCartney cannot be underestimated and the upcoming film seeks to finally do Justice to the Musical Legend that was Eddie Cochran.

A Blue Plaque is due to be unveiled next week - May 22 2023 - at the Bristol Hippodrome in honour of Eddie. The Documentary is scheduled for theatrical release late 2023 early 2024.

We decided to have a quick chat about the project and a few of Vince's memories of hanging with and performing with the late great Eddie Cochrane.

    But there's more...

Wan't to know how Wrestling in the UK was linked to Rock and Roll? How to spot a Hooker in Paris? Or just how far a pair of 20 something Rockers would go for a good portion of Fish and Chips?

    Well we got you covered!

    Enjoy.

About White Basement Podcast

From the publisher's feed

The White Basement Podcast was born from a collaboration between a couple of forty something friends who had to move our Brazilian JiuJitsu practice into a private garage gym, in order to continue training and chatting, during the lockdown. The gym became affectionately known as 'The White Basement' and the regular training we undertook kept us fit, active, healthy and sane!
