I’m joined on this episode by Chris Short, he’s one of my good buddies from Southern Indiana who’s a big buck killer of big woods Whitetails!! We talk about the years of him hunting these big steep ridge bucks and the tactics he’s learned to end up 3 peating (3 bucks in a row, 3 consecutive years) starting in 2016, which ended up being his biggest bucks to date. I hunted with Chris filming him and we had the same buck come in about 50 yards but didn’t give any shot opportunities. What Chris learned from that year (2015) ultimately helped him start shooting these studs. Chris is also a die hard bow hunter in which he only carried his bow throughout the entire season for multiple different seasons while never picking up a gun, even during firearms season. I had a blast catching up and talking Whitetails on this episode so I hope you guys enjoy it half as much as I did!! I’m joined on Episode 11 by my good buddies Parker Hale and Jackson Stierwalt from Indiana. We dive into their experience over the last decade chasing swamp land Whitetails and what they’ve learned throughout these years. The property they have butts up to the Wabash River with Illinois being just on the other side, so it’s needless to say with these thick swamps, River bottoms, and surrounding Agricultural fields it can produce pure giants!! We also dive into the buck Jackson killed this year with his bow in the beginning of November. One thing both these killers can agree on is being mobile snd treating your private land like you’re hunting public land is the best thing they’ve ever done for getting in on some mature Whitetails!! Swamp Bros and Reel Outdoors join me on this episode and I’ll tell you it’s a good one, we dive into public land hunting in Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky for some Midwest Whitetails. Curtis (Reel Outdoors) has put it a ton of work, time, and miles this off season on preparation for this year and was trying to get his first out of state public land buck. Parker (Swamp Bros) talks about his public land journey this year that led to a GIANT public land buck at full draw on his first day of his 2021 rut-cation. In the same week he ended finding a human skull on the same public land property and all the madness that came with it. We’re just getting into the public land game but it’s becoming to be addictive as can be. Both these guys are bug saddle hunters and it’s definitely been paying off for them. It was a great season with 4 bucks going down between us three guys (Gavin, Parker, Curtis) I hope you guys enjoy this Public Land BS session and we’re already looking forward to what next year will bring for us!! Lots to learn and lots of time to do what we love chasing Whitetails!! Mobile hunting is the best way to get after mature Whitetails and that’s exactly what we talk about. We also talk about tracking dogs and a personal experience we had to deal with and deciding a tracking dog was our best bet. While trailing a public land buck for over a mile that headed into private land and what we did trying to do our due diligence and find this buck. Parker ended up finding a human skull on public land and he talks about calling 911 (without service) meeting up with the cops, showing them the location because it was in the middle of nowhere with no cell service and then everything else that led after that. Dustin Huff joins us and goes into detail about his 211 4/8” Record typical whitetail!! As of now before the drying period his buck is the biggest typical ever killed in the United States standing only behind the Milo Hanson buck for biggest of all time. It’s the biggest whitetail ever killed with a crossbow and just an awesome mature buck in general. We also get into the days after killing a world class whitetail and what it’s like dealing with everyone trying to hear the story and get the score of this 208” Indiana monster!! The Huff Buck traveled over 8 miles from different land owners to the property that Dustin ended up killing this buck on. A few people in the surrounding area had quite a bit of history with this giant on trail cameras. Once in many lifetimes buck and it was awesome hearing this story first hand from Dustin!! At only 5 years old he’s one of the biggest bucks ever killed!! One thing you can learn from this episode is you never know what could come by just like this world record whitetail traveling over 8 miles and who knows how many properties he tracked through, giving many people a chance at this Monarch!! World record whitetail. Farm country Whitetails. Midwest Whitetails. Lucky buck mineral. Biggest typical in U.S. history!!

Whitetail rut is finally here and opening day of firearms season is 1 week away!! Gavin is joined in the podcast studio with team members Brady and Collin, along with their buddy Spencer. We’re also joined with our non-local team members Austin (Tennessee) and Nik via phone call. On this episode we cover a bunch of topics from what we’re expecting going into by the opening day of firearms and what rut tactics we will be applying going into the 2nd week of November. Nik and Gavin explain their decoy setups and how they’re using them to try and put a mature buck down. Nik also talks about his Colorado Public Land elk hunt that he went on in 2020 and what he did to put down a stud 6x6 on the 3rd day of the hunt. Nik also talks about how they got stranded on the mountain with an unforeseen blizzard and 60+ mph winds that moved in right after they got the elk packed back to their main base camp!! We all talk about our expectations for the weekend and how firearms season changes everything instantly!!
