John Hemingway is one my oldest squash rivals. Off the court I consider him a good friend. He's a civil servant by day, but by night he has been known to do woodcarving and woodturning. We've talked in passing about his craft before, but I really wanted to do a deep dive into it. We also discussed his connection to Letterkenny, Rugby, and snowshoeing. We did not discuss Ernest Hemingway, of whom I'm told he is no relation. This was a fun episode to record.

Sherif is a lawyer, father-to-be, and a great friend of mine. We talked about his (soon to be rebooted) show, "The Rizk Assessment," Egyptian culture and politics, learning to speak Arabic, and the crossroads between politics, culture, and Hollywood! We even bring up CSIS and Bernie Goetz, for a timely cultural reference.

Anthony has a PhD in Mass Communication from Ohio University, and teaches journalism in the Communications School at Robert Morris, in Pittsburgh. His research is largely in the field of sports journalism, and he's a big CFL fan (which is how we met).

We talked about Cold War sports propaganda, steroids, Pete Rose, Tony DeAngelo, Artemi Panarin, and the future of journalism, and shared our love and hope that the CFL gets back on its feet.

Back with another solo episode, I talk about the perils of getting guests, my short fuse, and also why me sitting in my basement complaining about banks and phone companies hasn't produced real change...yet.

Dawn is a stand-up comic, a writer, an improvisor, an actress, and much much more. We talked about the local arts scene in Ottawa, the dearth of women of colour in the comedy circuit, and how that  may be changing. But most exciting for me, we talked about the ways in which we create and stay connected in COVID times, which is not always an easy feat. 

A Californian Linguist turned Canadian Sheriff, turned paralegal, turned stand up comic. Lorenzo is a good guy, and has had many twists and turns in his life story. We talked kicking people out of their homes, what life post-COVID will be like. We also talked about our kids and our dreams of strapping SUPs to the top of camper vans and being professional nomads. And we also managed to squeak in some stand-up shop talk.
