For this week’s episode, we look at a Dead body as character with Weekend at Bernie’s (1989) and Swiss Army Man (2016). Which movie uses a dead body as a character to better effect?
Christine and Peter marvel at Terry Kizer’s “performance” as Bernie and Daniel Radcliffe’s bold attempt to move away from the Harry Potter image by playing a farting corpse.
They also discuss high concept movies and how Weekend at Bernie’s seems like a relic of a bygone era. The problematic reveal at the end of Swiss Army Man is also discussed and how it changes the film.
Peter’s quote of the episode- “If I come back to life, put sunglasses on me.”
