Christine and Peter discuss Sam Raimi toning down his usual visual style and how they can see this was Danny Boyle's first film, as well as a discussion of character tropes, their opposing views of the Juliet character, Ewan’s star making turn and Billy Bob Thornton’s heartbreaking performance.

Peter talks about his idea of how to launder money successfully and agreed they could trust each other if they found stolen money... probably....

For this week's episode, we look at Heist comedies with A Fish Called Wanda (1988) and Ocean's 11 (2001) .  Which movie uses the heist tropes for better comedic effect?

Peter discusses seeing Fish Called Wanda during his day of trying to sneak into 4 movies in one day as a teenager and Christine reveals how Kevin Kline influenced her upbringing.

They discuss Soderberg, the super cast of Ocean’s 11, the rat pack, the Ocean’s sequels, SCTV and their encounters with Monty Python members.

Peter and Christine really geek out on Kevin Kline’s brilliant performance as Otto and how he gets away with still being likeable even after doing some terrible things.  

They also discuss which love story works better in each movie.

For this week's episode, we look at Reunion movies with The Big Chill (1983) and The World’s End (2013).  Which movie gives a better sense of time passing, what was lost?  How have we changed?  

Peter reminisces about the pain of missing a preview screening of The World’s End and how he totally related to the characters in the Big Chill even though he was only in his 20’s when he first watched it.

Christine and Peter discuss nostalgia in general and whether they look back a lot and why this type of film seems to be a male sub-genre.

The great casts of each film are discussed and Peter reveals the big problem he has with Simon Pegg’s character in World’s End.  Christine discusses the baby subplot in The Big Chill and how she and Peter would do in a pub crawl.

For this week's episode, we look at Serial KIller movies with Summer of Sam (1999) and Zodiac (2007).  Which movie gives the best sense of what effect a serial killer has on a city? 

Christine and Peter start off with another discussion of Lee and Fincher and particularly why Fincher does so many takes.  

Are we more intrigued with the Zodiac Killer, JFK and Jack the Ripper because they are unsolved?  Those cases also made Peter ponder how any serial killers get caught because of the endless possibilities.

They talk about the misfire of Summer of Sam focusing on the male characters floundering around rather than taking a look at the effect the murders had on women in New York.

Christine corrects Peter when he says there are only 3 people in Zodiac that appeared in Superhero movies and points out Elias Koteas is in the classic  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This week we look at Diy- found footage horror with The Blair Witch Project (1999) and Paranormal Activity (2007). Which movie had more impact on the found footage genre and horror and movie history?

Christine and Peter discuss the found footage genre and whether it’s important to explain/believe that the characters would keep shooting amidst the horror?  What is it that makes the found footage genre work particularly well with horror movies?  They also discuss whether the acting is realistic and whether it has to be.  

The genius marketing campaign of both movies are discussed as well as the good and bad legacies they left behind.

Peter discusses why the South Park movie overshadowed his Blair Witch screening.  The quote of the podcast is Christine’s “To be fair to Micah, she probably should have told him she had a demon”

They discuss the impact of the ending of The Blair Witch and how Christine essentially made Peter fodder for a potential Witch/murderer in Niagara Falls.

This week we look at movies with Reprehensible Protagonists with A Clockwork Orange (1971) and The Wolf of Wall Street. (2013).  Which movie uses an unlikeable protagonist the best?

Spoiler- Peter hates Wolf of Wall Street and he spends most of the podcast talking about how disgusted he was with the characters from that movie.  What is it that Clockwork Orange does in making a murdering rapist seem more palpable than the greedy wall street monsters?

Christine and Peter discuss their overall view of Stanley Kubrick.  They discuss if someone is really a genius if someone “doesn’t know what they want but knows what they don’t want?” 

They also discuss Goodfellas and why that movie makes you like despicable gangsters. 

Peter questions whether Dicaprio has entered his “older Al Pacino” phase.  Christine laments there wasn’t more development of the side characters in Wolf of Wall Street.
