In our hundreds of interviews, we’ve heard lots of versions of what ESG is and what it is not. Off-camera, CEOS seem divided about what it is, what it has meant in the past and how to communicate their efforts. What is certain is that it is being driven hard by big funds who themselves differ over what to expect. One has to hope it is more than a tick box exercise to appease their own shareholders!
We are joined by three bright and experienced company directors share their experiences on the topic and who break it down and explain how they view ESG, its wider connotations and why it should matter to investors.
We discuss good examples and where good practice has helped companies and we remind ourselves where it has not worked and the cost to shareholders. I really enjoyed this one as it made me come at it differently when evaluating the cost to the bottom line.
