The primary reason evolution is incompatible with Christianity is that the Bible does not allow for millions of years of evolution. Genesis is a historical account of actual events and does not have features of Hebrew poetry. The ‘days’ in the Genesis account cannot be interpreted to be eons of time, and their sequence does not match the evolutionary story.

In addition, scientific observations commonly cited to support evolution are best explained by biblical creation: the fossil record, genetics, similarities in living things, natural selection, et cetera.
