What worldview best explains the human capacity to think and make rational inferences? According to the ‘argument from reason’, this is strong evidence for the existence of God, especially the Creator God of the Bible. If humans were created in God’s image and God designed our minds, it is unsurprising that they work and can perform impressive feats. But if atheism were true and humans were merely accidental byproducts of evolution, what is the likelihood such a blind process would produce creatures who can reason properly?
To delve more deeply into this topic, Dawn Blount interviews Keaton Halley, an apologist with Creation Ministries International. They discuss rationality, consciousness, natural selection, randomness, and evidence for the soul. At the end of the day, it’s clear that reason requires God. As C.S. Lewis once noted, the human ability to think and reason is the “cardinal difficulty with naturalism”.
