Today’s guest is Rosalyn Khan of A message for tomorrow’s leaders. Rosalyn has written three books - Random acts of kindness are changing the world all about mastering the message with passion and purpose, Dogs and Roses reducing stress and anxiety in today’s troubled times which was born out of Rosalyn’s own experiences with depression, and a message from tomorrow’s leaders - a collection of essays from individuals which started pre-COVID and evolved into something very different throughout the resulting year.
Rosalyn and I had a chat a little while ago about this episode and with her background as a college professor and many speaking experiences including TedX stages, I was quite struck at how much WhyMe has been at the centre of her life up to now. Starting with growing up with scoliosis, she has learned to roll with the ups and downs. As she herself has talked about finding the light through the darkness, I wonder how much we sometimes need to know the darkness in order to recognise the power of illumination with light?
Like many of you listening in, Rosalyn has lived with the ever changing landscape of a world which is evolving in front of our eyes whether we are ready for it or not. I had a feeling when she messaged me a few weeks ago that as her WhyMe moments have shifted, so too has her current focus and motivation, just like the book a message for tomorrow’s leaders. As a leader herself, I am keen to uncover some of the layers that make Rosalyn tick and why she devotes so much time and passion to helping others.
I am particularly excited to discover where Rosalyn and my conversation will go today, and with the title being named “The NOW of WhyMe”, I welcome you to the WhyMe podcast. You can contact Rosalyn at her website.

Today’s I have two guests, Marie Martin and Carry Howell of JustRockIt Coaching. Carry believes for him that being a strong man is being able to intentionally bring himself into a meditative state with a wide open heart and crying tears of joy. Marie explains that a boundary establishes what is you and what is another. They are about owning your inner space and knowing you have a choice and responsibility for your own boundaries, attitude and energy.
I am excited to interview Marie and Carry today, as their individual stories will resonate with different people. I have titled this episode Without you there is…? There are multiple reasons for this which we will explore during his session. Topics such as – Defining who is you? - what is home and how when you remove the ‘you’ (whatever that may be, a home, a career, a person, an identity) then what? You can contact Marie on Instagram and Carry on Facebook.

Charlene Fanstone, a photographer, mother and author of two blogs, ‘Healthy Living with Charlene’ and ‘Lift Your Head Again’. Charlene became a stepmum to her three children and wanting to be an involved parent at 23 years of age for her meant a fast track to growing up. Charlene’s experienced many WhyMe moments through her shared experiences with her family. She became an advocate for father’s rights through their battle to give the children a safe and secure home through the court system. As each of the children were slowly granted these rights, Charlene and her husband helped the kids through building love and fostering those relationships and connections. Through all the ways kids often love to express themselves and enjoy participating in life, there was much hockey, dance, soccer and other pursuits finally being explored and enjoyed for what became a very happy family unit. That was until a knock on the door that changed everything.
Charlene discusses the grief of losing her son unexpectedly to suicide, miles away, and coming to terms with the different ways we all grieve and have to learn to lift our head up again.

The unorthodox, hedonistic way show host, author, poet and queen herself, Renee Mayne.
In her own words, she is a modern-day mystic and femdom who makes kink her bitch and she is here to teach you how to suck the marrow out of your life, to melt into it like it’s the most delicious piece of chocolate you’ve ever had until area of your life feels a-maaaazing. She can help you become a dominatrix of your life and a submissive of the universe so you will love yourself unconditionally, fiercely, gently and softly through her intuitive dominatrix internships.
There is a story – actually many stories, behind Renee’s journey, and she is here today to share some of her WhyMe moments with you. I am very excited to listen to Renee share as we personally connected on a deep level the other week as she interviewed me.
First, I want to share part of a blog post from her website written in 2019 I felt is a revealing post. I’ve removed some of the post to enable the listener to discover your story Renee as you strip back the layers during our conversation. The post is titled Do I spit or do I swallow?
"I can’t spit any more, It’s time to swallow. It’s hard, It’s bitter, And it’s the most courageous thing I can do. It’s tastes like crap, But it will nourish my soul. There’s a part of me that has been ashamed. Ashamed of the answer to the question… What have you been up to? I didn’t shed a tear for years!
Unstoppable, determined and courageous. Pushed myself so far into whatever scared me and into the unknown, completely unafraid for myself and whether or not I could do it. I prided myself on being “ALL IN” when it came to my clients. Like, I gave all of myself physically, mentally, energetically and spiritually. I wore it like a badge of honour.
For the life of me, I couldn’t muster up the desire or the energy to do that this year. So I hid. That’s the part that is hard to swallow. I’m done spitting. Rejecting the part of me that is ready to swallow.
It’s time to really enter the void. To take action. To go there. To answer the question of “what have I been up to?”
I’ve been finding myself. Discovering who I am, really. Minus my identity. Minus my business. Minus my brand. Minus my kids. Minus my Mum.
I’m cracked right open and ready. Ready to sit with myself. Really to sit with myself. My soul self. In the void." Renee Mayne
You can contact Renee on her LinkedIn Instagram and Facebook.

Vera-Lee brings the conversation around to that sometimes sticky, sometimes wonderful topic of emotions and how the rollercoaster ups and downs can be just as difficult to navigate as the apathetic "I just don't care about anything" often indicating other things that you really do care about that are causing this mood state.
