  • Giving my heart room to breathe with Nelia Hutt

Nelia Hutt, fellow podcaster of Giving Starts With You, wants to eradicate loneliness in the world. She believes kindness is the key and as we all go through challenges in our life, she understands how important it is to share her personal story of dealing with anxiety, depression and PTSD with the vision of helping you know you are not alone. I would like to quote from one of her recent solo episodes.

“I believe that feeling lonely is very different than being alone. The feeling of loneliness is one of the worst feelings … it tricks you into thinking no-one is thinking of you and that you need to be someone else… and change your identity for others to accept you….. What if you weren’t the problem at all? What if society has forgotten to reach out to people?”. Nelia's story will surely touch your heart, and with her new book just launched, you get to be one of the first to enjoy her new book, Giving my heart room to breathe: A journey through grief, healing and giving. with my personal recommendation "This memoir is a beautiful collection of memories and shared wisdom for anyone going through the complexities and personal journey of grief in all it's forms over the healing process. Relatable and filled with insight this book will help you breathe again."

You can contact Nelia at her website, Facebook, Instagram and listen to her podcast here (where I've linked that episode to my interview called Losing and finding my voice for you).

Nelia's recommended reading is for the book "Be good to people, be good to yourself" by Victor Vilcahuano and you can get your own copy right here on Amazon*.

  • And She Shall Reign - Surviving HELLP Syndrome and PreEclampsia with Ebony Ford

A timely episode during Preeclampsia & HELLP Syndrome Awareness Month, Ebony Ford is a survivor who is calling on all maternal health advocates and survivors of these conditions to participate and spread awareness in the plight to help others feel more educated and expectant mothers will be more knowledgeable about the signs & symptoms.

A great book is Hellp Survivor Preeclampsia: Hellp Syndrome Fight Back Design For Guy Who Suffered Preeclampsia And Wants To Raise Awareness And Wants To Hellp Ya.

Ebony Ford, proud mother to Reign Victoria and a NICU Grad. The NICU is short for Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where dangerously ill or premature babies are cared for in hospital. Ebony is with us today to share her journey of surviving the birth of her daughter, who came into this world early - weighing a little over one pound.

No mother expects to be faced with the chaos and trauma of the sudden onset of HELLP syndrome - a type of liver disorder that in Ebony’s case was due to severe to pre-eclampsia. This condition put Ebony into acute liver and kidney failure and compelled the early birth of her then 26-week old daughter.

I’ll let Ebony talk about her experience shortly and I wanted to share with you Ebony’s work as an ambassador for the local March of Dimes – a mother of a movement where support and comfort are provided to moms and their premature or sick babies as well as education programs and research for medical professionals. Ebony’s family recently appeared in multiple commercials and articles for the latest national campaign “It’s not fine” as part of her work being a survivor of and advocate for NICU mums and bubs.

Ebony herself is trained in psychology, pastoral counselling and is currently pursuing her masters in forensic psychology amidst being a gospel artist, a mother, a wife and a support to so many of her NICU friends. I asked Ebony to join me here to today to share her WhyMe moment from the perspectives of a mother, counsellor, psychologist and a NICU grad, as together, her family navigate the ongoing ways they turned their tragedy into triumph every single day with #andsheshallreign.

You can contact Ebony at her Linktr.ee and on her website.

  • From Gangster Rap to Positive Vibes with Loot Bryon Smith

Loot Bryon Smith, a self-empowerment musical artist, life coach and inspirational speaker. Loot’s journey through his gangster rap days of channeling negativity through his music had a profound effect on those around him and even on his own state of being and consciousness. As he has evolved along his personal journey, so too has his style and creation of music. I quote Loot’s own words “Don’t let your circumstances of your life dictate how you feel. A good mood doesn’t have to depend on external circumstances. Peace of mind comes from the moment you choose to be peaceful with any situation. Smile.” About three years ago, he chose to focus on more positive creations and throughout today’s interview we will explore more his story and some of the music he is now inspired to create with the strong subliminal and outwardly clear messages of acceptance, love, healthy emotions, inner peace and redefining what happiness and success may look like to you.. I have spent a good deal of time over the last few months listening to Loot’s music and will include some of my chosen tracks to be played during the interview. I am interested to hear the creative process and thoughts from Loot on each one of these in a slightly different format for today’s show – I am looking forward to this conversation and I know you too will love this episode. You can contact Loot at http://lootbryonsmith.com/ and on his YouTube Channel and the music channel (topic)

Loot''s recommended reading is I wish I knew this 20 years ago by Justin Perry.

  • Powering through teenage translation with Dr Cam Caswell

Dr Cam, a developmental psychologist and the author of Power Phrases for Parents guidebook and host of the Parenting Teens with Dr Cam podcast. She helps other parents to discover the words for starting those difficult conversations with their teenagers using her PRIME parenting method.

She asks us as parents to consider when we speak to our teens, and I quote, “Before we get into that emotional state where our brains get hijacked into that emotional state too, and we are not able to think rationally…. that’s kinda the state your teen is in permanently right now. So you want to think about what is your intention before you are in that state, what do I want to teach my child?… Am I trying to teach my child to be respectful, how to problem solve, better techniques to be able to manage their emotions instead of throwing temper tantrums?”

Dr Cam has her own interesting story of parenthood I will let her introduce to you and I know she walks the talk herself, leading by example for those of us who accept her invitation to learn and develop further communication skills with our own kids, and perhaps, even each other.

You can contact Dr Cam:  Podcast  Website, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn

Dr Cam''s recommended reading is for the book Mindset by Carol Dweck. Dr Cam's own book  Power Phrases for Parents: Teen Edition  is a fantastic collection to add to your tools in parenting.
