We’re in the middle of December but the top-class racing keeps coming, with the $2 million Ingham at Randwick, the $1 million Supernova at Pakenham, the $1.5 million Gold Rush at Ascot and four black-type races at Eagle Farm.
This week, it’s Australia’s final Group 1 of 2025 as the cream of WA’s weight-for-age brigade look to fend off the easternchallenge in the Northerly Stakes. Back east it’s Ballarat Cup day, while the Brisbane summer carnival begins to warm up with the George Moore Stakes on the menu. Sunday’s fare includes cup days at Werribee and Stony Creek plus a bonus10-race card (postponed) card at Rosehill.
This week, Overpass shoots for a hat-trick in the $1.5 million Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot, but boom local Jokers Grin stands in his way. It’s Zipping Classic day at Caulfield, Festival Stakes day at Rosehill and Recognition Stakes day at Doomben. Sunday is Jericho Cup day at Warrnambool.
This week, we head out of town on the east coast for feature Saturday metro-class meetings at Cranbourne (Cranbourne Cup, $1 million Meteorite), Kembla Grange ($1 million Gong) and the Sunshine Coast (Mooloolaba Cup). Then kick back and enjoy the action from the west, where the $1.5 millionGroup 1 Railway heads the Ascot card.
This week, Caulfield hosts the final Group 1 of theMelbourne spring, with Jimmysstar and Angel Capital facing off the in the $1 million C.F. Orr Stakes. The NSW action switches to Newcastle for the $1 million Hunter, while it’s Keith Noud day at Doomben. Out west, we tune up for the Perth Pinnacles carnival with five black-type races including the $500,000 Placid Ark Stakes.
This week, a superb Flemington carnival concludes with three magnificent weight-for-age Group 1s featuring the stars ofAustralian racing: Via Sistina, Pride Of Jenni, Mr Brightside, Ceolwulf, Joliestar, Giga Kick, Tentyris and more. Sydney racing returns to Rosehill for Five Diamonds day andPerth racing builds towards the Pinnacles carnival.
A big team of raiders has arrived to take on Half Yours and co in what promises to be the wettest Melbourne Cup in years. Who will prevail? No surprise that Joel's tipping a $34 pop. Plus previews of the other black-type races at Flemington, a Big Dance preview and specials for other venues.
