The Chicago City Council has approved a zoning change that clears the way for a quantum computing campus in South Chicago. Tech startup PsiQuantum plans to build the world’s first quantum computer there. The quantum park will eventually be home to other companies and researchers developing quantum computing technology. It’ll be managed by the University of Illinois. The multi-billion dollar project will sit on 128 acres at the former U.S. Steel site. Groundbreaking could happen early next year and the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Caterpillar is laying off 60 workers after announcing the closure of its office in Montgomery south of Aurora. Listen for more below:
