In this continuation of The Affections of a Godly Man series, Stephen Davey leads us deeper into the heart of the Apostle Paul, whose devotion and prayer life offer a model for every Christian. Focusing on Romans 1:9-10, this message explores Paul’s affection for God, his constant prayers for others, and his submission to the will of God in all his plans.

Stephen emphasizes that godliness doesn’t come naturally—it takes spiritual discipline, consistency, and a willingness to wrestle in prayer. Paul’s struggle to kneel is a reminder that genuine spiritual growth requires effort and persistence. As believers, we are called to live lives marked by devotion to God, compassion for others, and submission to His will.

In a world filled with distractions and temptations, we often find ourselves chasing after meaningless pursuits. But Paul’s example challenges us to prioritize what truly matters. Whether you are a man seeking to grow in godliness, a woman praying for her husband, or a parent raising the next generation, this message will encourage you to pursue a deeper, more devoted relationship with Christ.

In his message from Romans 1:8, Stephen Davey explores the godly affections and legacy of the Apostle Paul. Paul’s heartfelt prayer reveals a deep affection for God, a genuine love for God’s people, and a desire to see God’s purposes fulfilled in the world. These are the characteristics of a godly man who is leaving behind a spiritual legacy that will impact future generations.

Through stories, personal reflections, and biblical truth, Davey contrasts a life spent “chasing sticks”—pursuing temporary, meaningless things—with a life spent pursuing God. A godly man or woman is called to invest in others, pass down biblical truth, and model a life of faith.

This message is a challenge to all believers to consider the kind of legacy they are leaving. Whether you are raising children, leading a church, or simply following Christ, the way you live today will influence those around you. Let’s chase after God and pass down a spiritual inheritance that will endure.
