Welcome to Day 1821 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.

Value and Worth – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps.  We are on Day 1821 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.
Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16  says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from Todd Hahn, and it is, "A person’s value and worth has nothing to do with his or her morality."
    Value and Worth
As a Christ-follower, you may think that I should never include a quote like this on Wisdom-Trek because living a moral life should be required as a Christian. It is a benchmark of our relationship with a Holy God.
Although morality is a manifestation of our relationship with God, it is certainly not the basis of that relationship. Our relationship with God is based solely on the finished work of Jesus Christ. While we are encouraged in God’s Word to live a Biblically moral life, our value and worth in God’s sight are viewed through His Son and not by any righteous works we may do or have done.
Understand and know that the purpose for living a virtuous and moral life is to honor a holy God who views us so worthy and valuable that He was willing to sacrifice His own son so we may have a relationship with Him. Live a life worthy of that calling.
    Romans 1:16-17
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ.  It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.  This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight.  This is accomplished from start to finish by faith.  As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1820 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Jill Sterklel, and it is, “A person’s attitude, effort, and commitment provide the power and passion that makes unique and special things happen.”
    Make Things Happen
We tend to look at individuals who always seem to succeed and accomplish much in their lives and wonder how it is possible. However, if we investigated further, we would find a common thread throughout their lives. First, we would discover that those individuals who continuously succeed also have a proportionate number of failures. Second, we would find that they maintain a positive attitude and an undiminished level of effort and commitment to succeed even through their failures. Because of their attitude, effort, and commitment, they can generate the power and passion needed to make unique and special things happen. The more adversity, the more driven they are to succeed. As imagers of the Most High God, we need to have the same attitude and drive in everything to bring honor and glory to His name.
    Colossians 3:23-24
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1819 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Today’s quote is from Croft M. Pentz, and it is, “A person worth following is a follower of Christ.”
    A Person Worth Following
We need to be very careful about who we follow and who influences our lives. As Christ-followers, we need to follow those who are followers of Christ themselves. The worldviews that we are forming are shaped by those we emulate. If we imitate someone whose life is not fully grounded in God’s Word, our worldview will become skewed, and we will get off the path we should be following.
We all have 168 hours per week; how we invest that time will determine the return on that investment. If we follow a person without the proper worldview, we will lose the return on our investment. First, we must know and follow God’s precepts, and then we need to make sure those who are mentoring us are also grounded in God’s Word. To do anything less is putting us in danger of failing in our spiritual walk.
    1 Corinthians 15:33
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for “bad company corrupts good character.”

A Sense of Humor – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps.  We are on Day 1818 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Henry Ward Beecher, and it is, "A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs--jolted by every pebble in the road."
    A Sense of Humor
Life is too short and absurd not to have a robust sense of humor. It’s good to laugh with others and at yourself as often as possible.  Granny and I share great laughs together every day. Usually, at something silly one or both of us have done or said. Humor not only makes life easier to live, but it is also  good for your body, mind, and soul.  Without humor, life is rough and can be miserable.
A life without humor is like living with a pebble in your shoe, or riding in an old wagon without any springs or suspension. So be willing to laugh at yourself.  We all do silly things each day. A sense of humor is the oil of life’s engine. Without it, the machinery creaks and groans. No lot is so hard, no aspect of things is so grim, that it does not relax with a hearty laugh. So lighten up and laugh and live. Look for humor in everyday life.
    Psalm 126:2
We were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy.  And the other nations said, “What amazing things the Lord has done for them.”

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1817 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Dayle Maloney, and it is, “A person with big dreams is more powerful than a person with all the facts.”
    Big Dreams
Dreams are just dreams until action is taken, but dreams are the starting point for that action to begin. You can have all the facts and knowledge needed to execute a dream, but the facts and knowledge have little value until that dream is formed. The truth is, you may need to begin with the dream and then gather the required facts and knowledge to determine if the dream is viable before action is taken.
It starts with the dream, then the due diligence, then the plan, and only after the first three steps are completed can action begin. The bigger your dream, the greater the possibility is for tremendous success. So dream, dream big, and then start converting that dream into reality. Allow God to direct your paths in the process. He will ensure that your dreams and plans are also according to His will.
    Psalm 43:3
Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me.  Let them lead me to your holy mountain, to the place where you live.

A Lot to Learn – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1816 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Unknown, and it is, "A person who knows everything has a lot to learn."
    A Lot to Learn
All of us have probably met a person who thought of themselves as a know it all. However, a few people seem to have a lot of facts stored away in their brains and can recall them at will. Some have a photographic memory or are incredible at remembering details and trivia.
My Gramps was a bit like that. He seemed to be knowledgeable on just about every topic imaginable. He was very smart and had a scientific and engineering mindset, so he could absorb and remember information about many subjects. Of course, we didn’t always believe everything he told us, but more often than not, he was correct.
On the other hand, some attempt to come across as knowing everything, but those individuals certainly have a lot to learn about life. It is okay to share knowledge and information you have gathered throughout the years, but remember, there is always more to learn.  The wisest people are those who never stop learning, no matter how knowledgeable they are today. Remember, there is a huge difference between being wise and having a lot of knowledge.
    Ecclesiastes 8:1
How wonderful to be wise, to analyze and interpret things. Wisdom lights up a person’s face, softening its harshness.

A Nice Person – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1815 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Anonymous, and it is, “A person who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.”
    A Nice Person
You can tell a person’s character based on how they treat others who can do nothing for them. If they are rude or nasty in any manner to those who do not have any societal position in life, then they are not a nice person. They will end up treating you in the same manner at some point if you fail to meet their particular need or status. So beware and be observant of how others treat anyone that comes into their life, regardless of position. How they treat the least will be an indication of their true character.
The same applies to us also. As Christ-followers, we should treat everyone with the dignity and respect they deserve. Remember, they are also created as imagers of our holy God. There are many examples of how Christ was most kind to those who most cultures would deem unworthy.
    Matthew 25:34-40
“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me.  I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink.  I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me.  I was in prison, and you visited me.’"
"Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you?  Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality?  Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’"
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’"

Try Something New – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1814 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Albert Einstein, and it is, “A person who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”
    Try Something New
So many people are afraid to try or do anything new for them for fear of making mistakes and failing. If you put yourself into the prison of fear, you will live a very shallow and poor life. Life becomes exciting when you are willing to try something new, even if it means you may fail. Realize that perhaps you will succeed. You will never know for sure unless you try. Even if you make mistakes and fail, if it does not endanger life or limb, you can always begin again now, knowing how to try better.
God created us to live life fully, and with that, we will make mistakes and, at times, fall short. As long as what you are trying to do is not against God’s precepts, there is no reason to hold back but instead move forward boldly. When you attempt new and exciting challenges, do it all for the glory of God. He has created us by His marvelous grace.
    2 Peter 1:3
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.  We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
     Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s masterpiece.  He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

    True Friends – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1813 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Croft M. Pentz, and it is, "A person who has a lot of friends either has a lot of money or is a good listener."
    True Friends
Friendships can be somewhat fickle. For example, if a person is wealthy they may attract friends who desire to be associated with them because of their wealth. These friends are referred to as "fair-weather friends." They are only friends when there is a benefit associated with that friendship. If a person is a good listener, they will attract friends to them, because they are willing to invest time into the lives of others by truly listening to the concerns of others.
Since most people like to talk about themselves, when someone is willing to be a genuine listener, many will desire to be associated with them, since they care about others. So if you are not wealthy, but have many friends, you must be a good listener. Caring for others and investing time into their lives is a mark of a true friend. As disciples of Christ, we are to love others as ourselves, which means being willing to listen to them and help them.
    Proverbs 18:24
There are “friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.
    Proverbs 19:4
Wealth makes many “friends”; poverty drives them all away.

Don't Doubt Yourself – Daily Wisdom
Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1812 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek.
So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Alexandre Dumas, and it is, “A person who doubts himself is like a man who would enlist in the ranks of his enemies and bear arms against himself.”
    Don’t Doubt Yourself
Doubt will destroy you. Nearly every time you allow doubt and fear to creep into your mind, you undermine yourself. It leads to self-defeatism and failure. Indeed, there is a need for planning and counting the cost before plunging ahead, but once you have adequately prepared, move boldly forward to accomplish what you have planned. The more you second guess and doubt, the more prone you are to failure.
As the quote today indicates, to doubt yourself is the same as enlisting in an enemy’s army to war against yourself. It is not wise, practical, or beneficial. God has gifted you with talents and abilities, and certainly, He expects you to utilize them fully. Therefore, don’t doubt yourself, and don’t doubt God
    Matthew 21:21-22
Then Jesus told them, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you can do things like this and much more. You can even say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. You can pray for anything, and if you have faith, you will receive it.”
