There’s a delightful exuberance and a grounded feeling that comes through in this conversation with Julie Grossman. Julie is a native of Manitowoc County, Wisconsin who moved to the west coast and lived there for 20 years before returning to her hometown. We talk about a career path that she didn’t expect, what she learned and the ways she grew over the course of those 20 years that continues to serve her personally and in her role as CEO of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA.
There were many ways the YMCA adjusted to meet the needs of the community during the height of the pandemic. Julie shares how they were able step up in ways big and small in order to be there for kids and families during what was a stressful and scary time for our communities, our country, and the world.
Julie is a believer in creating the community you want to live in. We explore some of the ways she does that, including through work and through volunteering.
We concluded with Julie sharing what she’d like to accomplish over the next part of her career, where she’s a work in progress, and what she’s looking forward to in 2022.
