"The minute I'm trying to live up to people's perception of me, and not just be me, the more inauthentic I feel."
I am grateful that my friend Chelsie wanted to record an episode on this podcast, because I just knew she had solid insight into worthfull living.
You may know Chelsie already if you're a longtime fan of TV shows like So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing with the Stars. She competed on both of them for years and is truly an extraordinary dancer (I can say that because I was a fan of hers way back in college).
Chelsie has ridden the wild rollercoaster of fame, media, influence, celebrity-dom, and more. She's learned to manage anxiety in a healthy way, pass on opportunities that don't feel good anymore, and reconnect to what matters the most to her - again and again.
I have a feeling you'll resonate with what she's learned about self-worth; the truth is, we're all learning the same worthfull lessons, no matter what our journeys look like.

"Don't think less of yourself if you can't be fearless. Doing it afraid is just as brave." - Morgan Harper Nichols
I read this quote this afternoon, and it validated a lot of my thoughts on fear and worth through the years.
It's very easy for me to think of fear as a truth-teller; after all, it's an instinct designed for survival.
But what it doesn't tell the truth about is my worth. I can be terrified of all kinds of things and my worth is completely unaffected. Being fearless isn't a sign of ultimate worth. Fear is simply a response to the unknown that tries to keep me safe.
I can do things that I'm scared of, while being scared of them, and rely on my worth to see me through the process. Knowing that my worth is unrelated to how afraid I am has been a beautiful revelation through the years.
In this solo episode, I share some thoughts on this, and why fearlessness as a badge of honor isn't the best place to judge our worth.

"I'm not slowing down. I'm taking care of myself. When you're working hard and you get tired, that's not a defect, it's a sign to refuel." - Jay Shetty
I have been making a lot more rejuvenation space in my days lately. I've been taking more breaks. I've been giving myself more time to rest. And I love it.
I still have a voice in my head that pops up to tell me that I'm lazy or irresponsible or dumb when I do that, but I'm learning to let it go in one ear and out the other.
I'm learning, as I own my worth, that we're built to require rest -- and we perform at our best when we take frequent breaks. I think that overworking and glorifying that habit is a big sickness in our society and we're all trying to right the ship together.
Here are my short and sweet words of encouragement to you as you are considering how many breaks to take in a day (add a few more in).

"Grace comes from a source that sees our worth 100% of the time."
I experience grace coming in and covering the gaps in my life on a daily basis.
It's something that has been a huge part of learning to own my worth. Every time I notice how grace has made up the difference between my efforts and my results, I am amazed by it. I'm learning that grace is a perfect reflection of my unchanging worth.
Today was one of those days where grace came in and made up the difference in multiple, beautiful ways. I realized I hadn't shared on the podcast yet how powerful of a force grace is in reminding me of my worth. This episode is an invitation to you to receive the grace that is coming to you everyday - because you are worthy of it.

"We're all becoming. We just become through different circumstances." - Morgan Jones
I'm clearly obsessed with telling people's stories (including my own). I think deep down, we all are because they are so validating and revelatory to us.
We learn best through stories, as science has proven. We are moved to tears by stories. We feel them in our hearts.
When I sat down with my friend Morgan Jones, a journalist by trade and a current podcast host and producer herself, I knew she'd have some deep wisdom to share about the value of storytelling to reveal our worth.
This conversation did not disappoint, for one because Morgan is such a delight, and two, because it speaks the core of every human. We can't ignore our worth if we tell our authentic stories. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this after you listen to Morgan's story.

"Does the proportion of the amount of time you spend on certain tasks align with how much they matter to you?"
I've had a thought on my heart for months and months and I finally felt ready to talk about it on today's solo episode. I was out for a run this morning in the beautiful springtime city, listening to one of my favorite podcasts, and feeling 100.
I knew there was no other place or activity that would be a better use of my time in that hour than exactly what I was doing - and yet it was 9am on a Tuesday, and for most of my life I would have considered that obvious "work time."
I've come a long way in prioritizing my time to spend it on the things I most value, and I'm still in process. But I believe this is one of the most important decisions we can make in owning our worth. We don't have much time given to us; we are worthy of joyful days as the rule and not the exception.
I'm sharing my thoughts in how to realign your time to reflect what you most value in this episode, and I would love to hear your thoughts on this after you listen.

"Normality is a paved road. It's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow." - Vincent Van Gogh
It seems I start all my solo episodes with, "I saw this quote on Pinterest and . . . " Pinterest is truly a wonderland of inspirational quotes.
Today's quote is roughly attributed to Vincent Van Gogh, but regardless of who said, I resonate with it deeply. As I've been taking some perspective on the unpaved path I keep choosing to walk on my worthfull journey, I notice the highs and lows.
The highs keep outweighing the lows, but that doesn't mean I haven't needed to develop some practices for managing the lows.
In this episode, I share 3 simple practices that keep me grounded on the unpaved road, with my worth intact. I hope they support you as well.

"Become a priority in your own life."
I read this quote on Pinterest a few weeks ago, and it stuck with me.
This has been a huge work-in-progress for me on my worthfull journey. From years of putting myself as low priority in my own life, I've been slowly learning to put myself higher and higher up on my own priority list.
It's part of what prompted my recent career and lifestyle shift. It's what anchors my morning routine. It's why I take time to put myself together everyday.
I'm sharing my thoughts on the importance (and how to) of putting yourself as a priority in your own life in today's solo episode. It's as much a reminder to myself as to anyone else. We can do this.

"Photography is the art of seeing." - Sam Miller
Last year, my friend Sam asked me if he could shoot some headshots of me to practice for his new photography business.
I said yes having no idea what would come of it. Some beautiful, worthfull images came out of that shoot (linked below) and since then I've seen Sam flourish as a photographer.
One of the most beautiful things to witness is how he is owning his worth in this process, while at the same time showing others' worth through his work.
Sam reached out recently and suggested recording a podcast about this whole process and I was delighted to sit down to talk about it.
Many people don't feel their worth when they see photographs of themselves, but I think after this conversation, you'll think differently.
Show notes"Grieve. So that you can be free to feel something else."
I read this quote on Pinterest the other morning, and it struck a chord.
I haven't been grieving anything in particular lately, but I know the feeling of grief and how healing it is to allow it to run its course. It truly is freeing.
And then I started thinking about how allowing any emotion that comes up to be felt is just as important.
When I allow myself to feel what is alive in me in the present moment, I free myself to evolve and move forward. That is part of owning my worth - owning my feelings and letting them go when it's time.
I recorded a quick solo episode on these thoughts and hope it serves you as a reminder that your feelings are your friends - and they won't stick around forever if you let yourself just feel them.
