"Worth doesn't change no matter what you think, what you feel, what you've been through, what's happened to you." - Kristen Beckwith
I met a new friend in a line at a wedding a few months ago and it turns out we definitely were meant to record an episode on the Worthfull Project.
Kristen has lived with intense anxiety, depression, OCD and more for over nine years, and as she's learned to create a new life through managing her mental health, she has also learned that she has a musical gift that is meant to be shared.
We said we were going to record an episode about her new music, but what we really discussed was the incredible lessons she has been learning about her worth regardless of what her mind tells her. I love this conversation because at some point in all of our lives, we need to face our mental health and decide what we believe is really true about our worth, no matter what the thoughts and feelings inside of us are saying.

"You're discovering a new country, but you're discovering a new person as well." - Diana Tapia
I was recently introduced to a beautiful friend who knows first hand the experience of reinventing herself as an immigrant. Diana immigrated from Mexico to Canada 8 years ago, and through her experience she has been inspired to create a worldwide organization to support other immigrants in the process.
What was extra special for me about this conversation, in which we discuss what it's like to own your worth as an immigrant in a new country, is that Diana has been a fan of the Worthfull Project for a while. She sees the vision and knows the power of what happens when we own our worth.
I loved learning about what it takes to own your worth when you are in a new country, with a new language, with little validation that you are valued. This one applies to all of us, because in the end, we're all immigrants in some part of our lives.

"Your worth is completely separate from your family's opinion of you."
I spent last weekend with my family at a little reunion and it inspired me to record a solo episode on owning my worth within my family relationships. Ever struggled with that? Hahahahaha.
I love my family and I love spending time with them. I've also learned lessons over the years about how I can own my worth no matter what they do or don't understand about me, as long as I take responsibility for my relationships with them.
Taking responsibility for what I share with them about my life, as well as being responsible with how I take their feedback to me, has been one of the greatest supports in owning my worth around my family. I hope this episode serves you in some way if you've been struggling to feel worthfull around your family.

"I am worthy of all of this joy and all of these blessings and all of this abundance and all of this grace."
I have experienced so much of the unexpected in the last year of my life. And it's had me thinking recently about how blessed the unexpected can turn out to be. But I don't know that I've always seen it that way.
A poem from Morgan Harper Nichols caught my eye on Pinterest a few weeks back, and I revisited it recently with a new perspective. I'm learning to see the unexpected as a mirror of my worth, as proof that no matter what my circumstances are, my worth is independently intact.
Sometimes, the unexpected can be a greater blessing than anything I would have expected to come to me. And that is proof that my worth is not based on results of my own making.

"You often feel tired, not because you've done too much, but because you've done too little of what sparks a light in you."
I cannot stop thinking about this idea. I've recorded multiple episodes now about how important it is to shift how we spend our time to align with what reminds us of our worth. I mean it in regards to our work, our relationships, our hobbies, our health, and everything else.
The more I practice filling my time with things that spark joy in me, the easier it gets to own my worth. My energy has increased. My inner peace is at an all time high. The opportunities that are coming to me are unprecedented. There's something going on here.
I'm sharing my thoughts on this in this week's solo episode and I'd love to hear your thoughts if you've been experimenting with spending the majority of your time on things that spark joy within you.

"Your worth exists because you're imperfect." - Danelle Nielson
I have been looking forward to sharing this conversation with my good friend Danelle for months and months. We finally got it recorded, and it doesn't disappoint (in my opinion).
Danelle and I both love Brene Brown, learning how to be vulnerable, eating amazing food, and talking about ADD, yes that so-called "disorder" known for making people have distractable brains. Danelle was diagnosed with it in grad school and I've been deeply fascinated by that kind of brain for years -- most of my best friends are wired that way.
As I've learned more and more about the differences in our brains and how much that impacts our self-perception and self-worth, I've come to believe that there are no mistakes about how we come to planet Earth. We all have innate strengths and weaknesses, and the ability to own those is what sets us free to enjoy our time here.
This episode is about a lot of things, but mostly it's about experiencing the relief of letting yourself be yourself.

"We are all here to be the expression of God that is within us."
Well wouldn't you know it, it's the 18 month anniversary of the Worthfull Project podcast! Time flies when you're having fun, and if it wasn't for good friends like my guest co-host Rebecca, I'd practically forget any of these milestones were coming up.
If you have been listening to the WP podcast for a while, you know Rebecca is my guest on episode 1, 26, and 50 (yes, she comes on every six months to compare notes with me about how we are learning to own our worth.) She's a dear friend, wise woman, and huge support system to me.
In this episode, we talk about what we are learning on our spiritual journeys since both of us have invested heavily in deepening our faith and spiritual practices in the past six months. This is definitely a "notes from the field" kind of episode, and we'd love to hear your thoughts about what you are learning in the same journey.

"Look at yourself until you love what you see."
I recently had some photos taken of myself for some forthcoming brand updates. My dear friend Meagan took them. My other dear friend Shelley was there too. It was the most supportive environment possible to have photos taken of myself. And I was still insecure.
I got back the photos this weekend and looking through them I could feel my insecurities about my beauty pop right up. This didn't surprise me, but it made me think deeper about how heavily influenced I am, to this day, by our co-created society standards of beauty.
An Instagram post poured out of me on this topic and I knew I had more to say, so I recorded a solo round on the podcast to share a continuation of my thoughts. I think the best way for us to shift our relationship to broken beauty is to talk about it. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you'd like to share.

"I use all of the tools, all of the time."
On my weekly accountability buddy call today, my sister friend Lucy mentioned that she is a fan of the podcast but hasn't heard me talk about how I struggle (and move through struggle) very often on it.
Lucy knows I struggle. She hears me talk each week about my struggles. But I really appreciated her feedback that I maybe hadn't realized I don't talk much about that on the podcast.
Well, here you go. I have learned so much from many other podcasters who have shared their stories of struggle and overcoming, it would be indecent of me to keep my stories from anyone listening.
I sat down this afternoon on my bedroom floor and recorded this (longer) solo round as an intro to anyone new to my story about how I struggle to own my worth on the daily, and how I'm learning to manage that struggle in a healthy way.

'And every day, the world will drag you by the hand, yelling, "This is important! And this is important! And this is important! You need to worry about this! And this! And this!" And each day, it's up to you to yank your hand back, put it on your heart, and say, "No. This is what's important."' - Iain Thomas
I had a beautiful holiday weekend (which I actually took as a holiday) and am feeling so refreshed, rejuvenated and happy. Like deeply happy.
As I got into my to-do list this morning, I knew I wanted to record a solo episode on how I'm learning to put what's most important to my heart first. This quote has been a foundational rock in my worthfull journey. It's a reminder that I'm the one who knows best how my time should be spent. I do know what will fill me up with energy and love and joy -- which will allow me to do my best work and give my best contribution.
It felt like a scary risk at first to try this (instead of always putting work and other people's priorities first). But the more I explore putting my heart's priorities first, the more I'm learning that everything else gets taken care of with my leftover time and energy. I like to call this the magic of worthfull living.
