When it comes to writing, whether it is journaling or writing a book, or a screenplay, the most important thing is that it needs to come from within yourself without any restrictions or mental filters. How often did you hear something like, you should journal about your problems? This is standard advice when it comes to journaling. The idea that you have to write specific topics for your writing to have a purpose is widespread, but it can’t be more hurtful because it prevents your mind from being creative and expressing its true self. To fully express yourself through writing, you need to write whatever you want it to be, without fear or filters. Just write what you feel about writing, and start from there. 

 

Today’s guest, Christina Igaraividez, will tell us about her decision to quit her marketing career and move to Los Angeles to pursue her passion for acting and storytelling and the power of writing whatever we want it to be. 

 

Christina Igaraividez is a writer, performer, producer, and storytelling coach. Whether it's an ensemble production or a digital short, she is constantly working on how to get people to laugh and sometimes cry. She has trained in comedy across Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles at places like Second City, Iowa, and UCB. Her YouTube channel has received notoriety from outlets such as Huff Post, Paris Hilton, and le weekly Upworthy, and she was a finalist for the Sundance YouTube new voices lab. Christina has a strong passion for storytelling and has performed across various stages in LA. With Teatro Luna West, the LA chapter, she Co-produced a new audiobook of short stories that is an audible original titled talking while female and other dangerous acts that feature 25 stories from Latinas across the US on themes of risk and resilience.
