Eerie new crime scene photo shows ‘exact spot’ where Pacific Palisades fire started
A chilling crime scene photo may mark the exact spot where the devastating Palisades Fire that has destroyed a swathe of Los Angeles started.
Part of the Temescal Ridge trail near Via Las Palmas and Via La Costa in LA’s Palisades-Highland community was seen cordoned off with crime scene tape Monday night.
The tape appeared to surround a burn scar, KTLA reported. Fireworks are illegal in LA, but Pacific Palisades teens are feared to have triggered an initial small blaze by setting off fireworks on the trail on New Years Eve.
Drought-like conditions and high winds mean that although that initial fire was put out, it may have smoldered for six days before re-igniting, investigators now believe according to sources to the San Francisco Chronicle.
‘There’s been no definitive determination that it is arson at this point,’ LAPD Asst. Chief Dominic Choi told the outlet. ‘But we are looking at every angle.’

SEC Sues Musk for Acquiring Twitter at ‘Artificially Low Prices’ – Here’s Why the Suit Is Absurd
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on took one more shot at TESLA and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk before President-elect Donald Trump begins his second term on Monday, accusing the multibillionaire of committing securities fraud in 2022 by acquiring Twitter at “artificially low” prices.
According to the SEC’s civil suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., Musk was more than 10 days late in reporting requiring material information, “allowing him to underpay by at least $150 million for shares he purchased after his financial beneficial ownership report was due.”
Prior to the acquisition, the world’s richest man had acquired a position in the company of greater than 5 percent, which required disclosing his holdings to the public within 10 calendar days of reaching the threshold. Musk publicly disclosed his holdings on the 11th day after the mandatory guidelines.

The FDA today has issued an order today that will ban Red No. 3 from food products and ingested drugs.
The dye, which was approved for use in 1907, has been banned in cosmetics and topical drugs since 1990 over evidence that it can cause cancer. Its use in food is already banned or restricted in Australia, Japan, and countries in the EU.
Red No. 3. is commonly found in candy, gum and cookies, including Brach’s candy corn, Betty Crocker sprinkles and strawberry Ensure.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed a bill banning transgender athletes (biological males) from competing in girl’s sports at schools that receive federal funding.
The Trump-backed bill introduced by GOP Rep. Greg Steube dubbed the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act,” passed the House 218 to 206.
Every Republican voted “yea” – Two Democrats joined Republicans and voted “yea.”
“The bill, known as the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act,” would amend Title IX, the federal law banning sex discrimination in schools, to recognize a person’s “sex” as “based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” Schools who allow “a person whose sex is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls” risk losing federal funding.” – CBS News reported.

Biden, in an interview with USA Today last week, also laughed when the news outlet asked him about Trump trying to overturn his initiatives.
‘I think he’s going to have a problem,’ the president said. ‘Trump’s going to have a hard time undoing a lot, I think.’
Here’s are some areas where Biden is making it difficult for Trump:
ORDERS OF SUCCESSION
Biden has updated the order of succession at several federal agencies, rearranging the reporting order to ensure officials friendly to his policies are in charge while Trump gets his Cabinet nominees confirmed.
When a president leaves office, all of his Cabinet nominees and political appointees resign so the incoming president can put his own people in place.
But the new top officials have to be confirmed to their jobs by the Senate. Republicans are in charge on Capitol Hill during that process but, still, it takes time to hold confirmation hearings and then a formal vote of the 100 senators.
One of the many agencies where Biden reordered things is the Department of Justice. Biden issued an executive order putting the U.S. Attorney for the District of New York in charge once Attorney General Merrick Garland and his lieutenants resign on Inauguration Day.
But the attorney for the District of New York resigned two weeks before Biden signed the new succession, which puts the U.S. Attorney for Arizona next in line.
NOW IT MAKES SENSE WHY THE AG OF ARIZONA WANTS GARLANDS INFO
Republicans charge that attorney – Gary Restaino – is a Biden appointee who doesn’t support Trump’s border policies. And Restaino would be in charge of federal cases until Trump gets his attorney general nominee and top Justice Department staff confirmed.
SPEND, SPEND, SPEND
The administration is spending as much as possible from the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act.
While Biden can’t spend that future money, he can try to allocate where the money should go, locking in the funds for his initiatives and tying Trump’s hands when it comes to spending it.
RUSHING THROUGH RULES AND CONFIRMATIONS
President Biden has confirmed 235 federal judges over the course of his presidency, which is one more than the 234 confirmed by Trump in his first administration.

USING FEDERAL LAW TO HIS ADVANTAGE
Many of the rules are being made in a way that it would take an act of Congress or a new rule to undo them.
One of those Biden rules is tied to federal workers.
Trump wants to have the power to easily fire federal workers, which has brought fears he will fire career employees who have different political ideologies.
During the final weeks of his first term in 2020, Trump issued an executive order creating a new class of federal workers known as Schedule F.
These staffers would be exempt from the country’s traditional merit-based civil service program. And opponents argued it was an attempt to hire and fire people based on their political loyalty.
Biden, when he came into office in January 2021, rescinded that order.
He then took it one step further last spring, when he issued a new rule that strengthens existing rights for career federal workers by making it clear that civil service protections cannot be taken away from employees unless they give them up voluntarily.
In other words, it makes it nearly impossible for Trump to classify current federal employees under a Schedule F type order.
OFFSHORE DRILLING
Biden used the 1953 Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to protect 625 million acres around the continental U.S. from offshore drilling.
His decision to use the law instead of executive action is telling.
The 1953 law gives the president the power to withdraw federal waters from future oil and gas leasing.
And, in 2019, U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason ruled those presidential directives can’t be undone without an act of Congress.

President-elect Donald Trump asked the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider a $5 million verdict finding him liable for sexually abusing and defaming writer E. Jean Carroll.
Trump’s lawyers filed the petition to the New York-based appeals court Tuesday, seeking an en banc review, where the full court hears the case rather than a smaller panel. The appeals court upheld the costly judgment against him on Dec. 30.

That doesn’t yet exist, but will soon exist, and when it does, it will change everything.”

Top Democrat Tries to Give Pete Hegseth Different Confirmation Hearing Rules than Biden DOD Pick Lloyd Austin Had
The top Democrat on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI), tried to give President-elect Donald Trump’s Secretary Nominee Pete Hegseth different rules for his confirmation hearing than Biden’s Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin had for his.
Reed asked committee Chairman Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS) if there could be a second round of questions from committee members to Hegseth.
Wicker rejected his request, saying, “I think we’re going to have adequate time for questioning,” adding, “We’re following the exact same precedent on all things that we did with Secretary Austin.”
Reed also asked for Hegseth’s FBI background investigation report to be shared with all members of the committee, despite the precedent being the report only going to the chairman and ranking member.
Again, Wicker denied his request, saying, “What I intend to do is follow the exact precedent for the last two hearings for secretary of Defense [and] that was for the chair and the ranking member to see the report. That is my intention.”

TikTok Says Bloomberg Report About Possible Sale to Elon Musk is ‘Pure Fiction’
Congress passed the ban earlier this year in response to widespread opposition to Israel spreading like wildfire on the app. It was signed into law by Joe Biden in April.
The Supreme Court is now considering the case, but according to reports, justices “sound likely” to uphold the ban.
The TikTok ban in the United States is set to come into effect on January 19, 2025, unless TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, divests from the platform or the Supreme Court intervenes with a different ruling. This date could be extended by up to 90 days if ByteDance shows significant progress toward divestiture.
The report claimed that Chinese officials are considering allowing a deal where Musk’s X would absorb TikTok’s US operations.
TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, has repeatedly said it is not open to a forced sale and shot down the claims.
“We can’t be expected to comment on pure fiction,” a TikTok spokesperson told BBC News in response to the Musk report.
Trump vowed to “save” the app during his presidential campaign.
The president-elect met with TikTok CEO Shou Chew at Mar-a-Lago earlier this month to discuss the matter.
“You know, I have a warm spot in my heart for TikTok because I won youth by 34 points and there are those that say that TikTok has something to do with it,” Trump said during a press conference earlier this month.
TikTok has over 170 million users in the United States alone.

“Unprecedented Criminal Effort” – DOJ Releases Jack Smith’s Report On Trump ‘Election Interference’
U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) officials have released part of former special counsel Jack Smith’s report about President-elect Donald Trump.
In the report, Smith – who recently resigned – said that he believes the evidence against Trump was strong enough to yield a conviction, even though the DOJ dropped its prosecutions of the president-elect.
“As alleged in the original and superseding indictments, substantial evidence demonstrates that Mr. Trump then engaged in an unprecedented criminal effort to overturn the legitimate results of the election in order to retain power,” Smith wrote.
An indictment against Trump charged him with multiple federal crimes, including conspiring to obstruct the certification of the 2020 presidential election.
After the charges were brought, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that presidents are immune from prosecution for official conduct.
Smith’s team subsequently reanalyzed the evidence it had gathered.
“Given the Supreme Court’s ruling, the Office reevaluated the evidence and assessed whether Mr. Trump’s non-immune conduct—either his private conduct as a candidate or official conduct for which the Office could rebut the presumption of immunity—violated federal law,” Smith wrote in the newly released report.
“The Office concluded that it did. After doing so, the Office sought, and a new grand jury issued, a superseding indictment with identical charges but based only on conduct that was not immune because it was either unofficial or any presumptive immunity could be rebutted.”

The Danish government now might be more open to agreeing a divorce deal that includes some continued payments to ease Greenland’s path to independence, he says. “My prognosis is that the Danish government will accept it in the next few years,” he says. Gavin Newsom set up a website to counter so-called misinformation. For one, he said he doubled the firefighting budget. Over five years, he did up it to $3 billion. However, four months ago, he cut more than $125 million from seven key firefighting programs.
He also upped the budget by $2.6 billion a year for illegal alien healthcare starting January 1. This will continue to accelerate as more come illegally for free healthcare. Google AI says it will cost $4 billion annually [to start]. The priority isn’t firefighting. It’s healthcare for people breaking into the country.

Newsom said it’s new. It’s not. It’s a page on his campaign site He suggested it was a state site. It’s not. He linked to a fire department fundraiser that is currently under investigation for…wait for it..fraud.
The site where he “straightens out” mis- and disinformation is not a new state site; it’s Newsom’s old campaign site. The link to donate takes you to Act Blue, the corrupt mega-donor collection agency. It’s a Democrat fundraising platform that takes almost 4% of all donations. They are currently under investigation for fraud.
He keeps saying he doesn’t want to politicize the catastrophe and then fundraises off it from his campaign site, where he lies or omits the truth.

Joe Biden Extends Protected Status to Hundreds of Thousands of El Salvadorans to Prevent Deportation Before Trump Takes Office
Joe Biden on Friday extended “Temporary Extended Status” to hundreds of thousands of El Salvadorans before Trump takes office.
The TPS will allow 232,000 El Salvadorans to remain in the United States for 18 months from March 10, 2025 to September 9, 2026.
The Biden DHS extended the relief to the El Salvadorans due to “geological and weather events, including significant storms.”
“The Department of Homeland Security announced today the extension of Temporary Protected Status for El Salvador for 18 months, from March 10, 2025, to Sept. 9, 2026, due to environmental conditions in El Salvador that prevent individuals from safely returning. The corresponding Federal Register notice provides information about how to re-register for TPS under El Salvador’s TPS extension.” – the DHS announced in a press release on Friday.

How would a local business owner thrive if they aren’t allowed to advertise on Google, Facebook, etc, because of who they voted for? We don’t NEED these platforms to survive. Still, one could also argue that we don’t need to regulate airlines as common carriers because someone could always walk to the other side of the country instead of catching a flight, but common sense says planes are a public necessity. We regulate internet ISPs as common carriers not because people would die without them but because our modern way of life would cease to exist without access to the internet. Look how much damage has been done to society without the free exchange of ideas. We are fighting culture wars that would’ve never escalated to being wars if half the country wasn’t silenced from giving their opinions. This is like the Civil Rights issue of our lifetime, except it’s not discrimination on race but viewpoint. It all has to stop.

large numbers of tanks directly onto Taiwanese roads. Anyone wondering what an invasion of Taiwan might look like now has a fresh visual clue. Defence analysts watching Chinese shipyards have noticed an increase in a particular type of vessel.
A number of special and unusual barges, at least 3 but likely 5 or more, have been observed in Guangzhou Shipyard in southern China. These have unusually long road bridges extending from their bows. This configuration makes them particularly relevant to any future landing of PRC (People’s Republic of China) forces on Taiwanese islands.
Naval News has seen multiple sources confirming their construction, and has shared information with naval experts to validate our preliminary analysis. The consensus is that these are most likely for amphibious landings. Unusual Barges Similar To D-Day Mulberry Harbours Each barge has a very long road span which is extended out from the front. At over 120 meters (393 ft) this can be used to reach a coastal road or hard surface beyond a beach.
At the aft end is an open platform which allows other ships to dock and unload. Some of the barges have ‘jack up’ pillars which can be lowered to provide a stable platform even in poor weather. In operation the barge would act as a pier to allow the unloading of trucks and tanks from cargo ships.
The Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) on Longxue Island has been a key part in China’s naval expansion. It is particularly associated with construction of unusual vessels including a very large uncrewed surface vessel and a light aircraft carrier. The barges are reminiscent of the Mulberry Harbours built for the allied invasion of Normandy during World War Two.
Like those, these have been built extremely quickly and to novel designs. Although there appears to have been a smaller prototype as early as 2022, the batch of these barges have appeared only recently.
A Possible Indication Of Readiness To Invade? The construction of specialist barges like this is one of the indicators defense analysts watching to provide early warning of a potential invasion. It is possible that these ships can be explained away as having a civilian role. But the construction of so many, much larger than similar civilian vessels seen before, makes this implausible. There are several distinct designs of these barges which also points away from a commercial order.
These vessels are only suited to moving large amounts of heavy equipment ashore in a short period of time. They appear greatly over-spec for civilians uses. Dr Emma Salisbury, Sea Power Research Fellow at the Council on Geostrategy, told Naval News that “Any invasion of Taiwan from the mainland would require a large number of ships to transport personnel and equipment across the Strait quickly, particularly land assets like armoured vehicles”. These mobile piers appear particularly suited to an invasion.
Dr Salisbury continues “As preparation for an invasion, or at least to give China the option as leverage, I would expect to see a build-up of construction of ships that could accomplish this transportation”.
Damien Symon, a respected defence analyst who reviewed material shared, noted their suitability for docking with China’s large fleet of civilian ferries. China’s roll-on/roll-off (RORO) ferries are built to carry military vehicles including heavy main battle tanks. They are exercised in this role regularly.
Dr Salisbury agreed: “China is constructing a huge fleet of dual-use ships – commercial vessels that could be easily requisitioned for military use when needed. These include in particular roll-on/roll-off ships that would be perfect for transporting military vehicles – and have indeed been built with military specs in mind.” What This Means For Taiwan The traditional view is that there are only a small number of beaches on the main island of Taiwan which are suitable for amphibious landings. And these could be heavily defended.
The PRC could seize fishing villages or a port for larger scale landings. But the view has been that any attempt to take the islands by force would mean landing in predictable places. These new barges change that. The extreme reach of the Bailey Bridges means that the PRC could land at sites previously considered unsuitable.
They can land across rocky, or soft, beaches, delivering the tanks directly to firmer ground or a coastal road. This allows China to pick new landing sites and complicate attempts to organize defences. Instead of relying on Taiwanese ports, China can now sail its own mobile port across the straits.

FBI warns drone pilots to stay away from M&T Bank Stadium ahead of Ravens vs. Steelers AFC Wild Card matchup
As the Ravens flock gets geared up for tomorrow’s big playoff game against the Steelers, the FBI will be monitoring the skies and is sending a warning to drone pilots about the restricted airspace above M&T Bank Stadium.
“Last year during the AFC championship game during the Chiefs and the Ravens home game on January 28th of last year, we had several drone incursions into the TFR, temporary flight restrictions,” David Rodski, Special Agent with the FBI Baltimore division, said.
A Pennsylvania man was ultimately charged for illegally flying the drone over the stadium and was forced to pay hefty fines. On the eve of this year’s playoff game, the FBI is warning pilots to consider the risk to fans and players.

Germany Faces Highest Number Of Bankruptcies Since Great Financial Crisis
Germany is bracing for a sharp rise in bankruptcies this year, with an anticipated 25–30 percent increase compared to 2024, reaching levels not seen since the 2009 financial crisis.
In 2024, 364 major companies with annual revenues exceeding €10 million filed for bankruptcy — a 30 percent increase over the previous year. This marks a stark contrast to 2020, the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic when 292 such companies went bankrupt.
The hardest-hit sectors include automotive suppliers, mechanical engineering, construction, and healthcare.

Automotive suppliers have been identified as the most at-risk sector for insolvency in 2025, with one in six major bankruptcies in 2024 stemming from this industry. The transition to electric vehicles, declining car production, and weaker demand in key markets like China have exposed cracks in the sector’s foundation.

The construction industry took a heavy hit last year, with bankruptcies rising by 53 percent.

Federal Reserve officials at their December meeting expressed concern about inflation and the impact that President-elect Donald Trump’s policies could have, indicating that they would be moving more slowly on interest rate cuts because of the uncertainty, minutes released Wednesday showed.
Without calling out Trump by name, the meeting summary featured at least four mentions about the effect that changes in immigration and trade policy could have on the U.S. economy.
Since Trump’s November election victory, he has signaled plans for aggressive, punitive tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada as well as the other U.S. trading partners. In addition, he intends to pursue more deregulation and mass deportations.
However, the extent of what Trump’s actions will be and specifically how they will be directed creates a band of ambiguity about what is ahead, which Federal Open Market Committee members said would require caution.

President-elect Trump on Wednesday said “it doesn’t matter” whether Republicans on Capitol Hill tackle his top priorities on taxes, energy and the border in one package or two as the party tries to nail down its plan for the coming months.
“We had a great meeting. There’s great unity. Whether it’s one bill or two bills, it’s going to get done one way or the other,” Trump told reporters following a meeting with Senate Republicans Wednesday evening.
“I think there’s a lot of talk about two, and there’s a lot of talk about one, but it doesn’t matter. The end result is the same,” he continued, hailing the meeting as “really unified” and “very strong.”
“We’ll get something done,” he added.

Merrick Garland’s DOJ Asks 11th Circuit to Toss Order Blocking Release of Jack Smith’s Report
Attorney General Merrick Garland’s Department of Justice has formally requested that the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals lift an injunction issued by Judge Aileen Cannon, which temporarily blocks the release of a report by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
The report focuses on investigations involving former President Donald Trump. The primary focus of the investigation – and thus, Smith’s report – is on Trump’s alleged efforts to challenge the 2020 election results. However, another portion of it also deals with the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case, which was tossed by Cannon last year.
Volume two of the report, which pertains to Trump’s classified documents case, will remain confidential due to ongoing legal proceedings. The DOJ has assured that this portion of the report will only be made available for private review by select congressional leaders. However, concerns over leaks from Democrats in Congress remain an issue, the President-elect’s former co-defendants argued in a Wednesday evening filing.

Former Congresswoman Debbie Lesko, upon taking office as a Maricopa County Supervisor Monday, announced plans to audit Maricopa County’s election system.
“It is very important to a lot of my constituents,” she said.
This is a major departure from former Maricopa County officials’ stance that the elections are run with integrity despite major issues in the last three elections. Recall that former Maricopa County Chairman Bill Gates, following the 2022 election, which was stolen from Trump-Endorsed statewide candidates like Kari Lake and Abe Hamadeh, said the election “was run extremely well.” This is despite 60% of vote counting machines across Maricopa County breaking down on election day and disenfranchising in-person voters who were mostly Republicans.
This also came after the forensic audit of the 2020 election discovered major discrepancies in ballot chain of custody documentation, mail-in ballot signature verification, and ballot printing, as well as numerous election law violations. While serving in the U.S. House, Lesko was one of the brave 139 Republicans who voted to stop the certification of the stolen 2020 election.
Then, last November, Kari Lake was robbed of victory once again in a race where President Trump and Republicans dominated up and down the ballot. Despite Trump winning the presidential race in Maricopa County by over 70,000 votes, Justin Heap winning the County Recorder’s race by over 80,000 votes, Jerry Sheridan winning the County Sheriff’s race by over 130,000 votes, and other Republicans seeing similar turnout, we’re asked to believe that Kari Lake had a more than 100,000 vote deficit against far-left Democrat Ruben Gallego. President-elect Donald Trump recently revived this issue in a series of social media posts and in his speeches. He’s right to do that,
Trump raises some extremely important issues regarding the canal, which is of immense importance to a global naval power such as the United States.
To link up the Atlantic and Pacific oceans with a crossing through the Americas was an immensely valuable thing in an age of globalized trade and great power competition. The French tried and failed to build the canal in the late 19th century.
Panama exists as a country because of the United States.
On top of that, the treaties signed with Panama obligated the country to run the canal neutrally and without discriminatory pricing. The United States could intervene if that neutrality was ever broken.
While the canal has operated smoothly for the most part since the 1970s, things haven’t always gone smoothly. President George H.W. Bush launched a short and successful invasion of Panama in 1989 to depose Gen. Manuel Noriega, who had seized control of the country, refused to hold a fair election, turned Panama into a narco state, and was getting cozy with the Soviet Union.
More important for the modern state of Panama, a Hong Kong company purchased the Atlantic and Pacific ports of entry in 1996.
China also has made enormous investments in Panama, and many of its companies operate there. So, the operation of the Panama Canal is threatened in a way that it hasn’t been since the U.S. ceded control more than 40 years ago.
If China truly can exert control over the Panama Canal, it would be a grave threat to the United States.
When the Panama Canal experiences traffic jams and other slowdowns, it can cause significant damage to global supply chains. It certainly did last September.
By putting the issue of the Panama Canal back in the news, he’s simply signaling that the U.S. is returning to the business of looking out for American interests first, and that those will always come before the feelings of foreign leaders or media critics.

The alternative and preferred route would be Congress.

Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC): Within the U.S. Department of the Treasury, OFAC typically administers and enforces these economic sanctions.

Historical Use:

Republicans introduce constitutional amendment to impose term limits
Republicans in Congress led by US Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, introduced a joint resolution proposing a constitutional amendment to impose term limits for members of Congress.
The amendment would limit U.S. senators to two six-year terms and U.S. House members to three two-year terms. The two-page resolution states that after the amendment is passed by Congress and ratified by the states, the amendment would go into effect “within seven years after the date of its submission by the Congress.”
The resolution proposes that after a member of the U.S. House has served three terms, they aren’t eligible to be reelected to the House. After a U.S. senator has served two terms, they are no longer eligible to be elected or appointed to the U.S. Senate.
Cosponsoring the joint resolution with Cruz are Republican Sen. New Biden water heater ban will drive up energy prices for poor, seniors: expert
A Biden administration ban on certain natural gas water heaters as part of the lame duck president’s climate agenda could send prices soaring for the elderly and the poor.
Under the policy, new non-condensing, natural gas-fired water heaters will be prohibited for sale starting in 2029 due to concerns about carbon-dioxide emissions. .
If the policy takes effect, as it is slated to on March 11, a little less than 40% of the tankless water heaters currently on the market would be banned, according to an estimate from the Appliance Standards Awareness Project.
“When the rule goes into effect, all that manufacturing will basically be irrelevant,” Frank Windsor, president of Rinnai America, a water heater manufacturer, told the outlet.

reported, Joe Biden has officially banned ALL future offshore oil and gas drilling in an effort to sabotage President Trump’s vote to unleash American energy dominance, which includes offshore drilling. Trump has also vowed to ditch Biden’s environmentally damaging ‘green’ energy policies.
Biden announced Monday morning he is utilizing his power under the 70-year-old Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act to block all future oil and natural gas leasing in more than 625 million acres of federal waters. Established in 1953, this act gives the United States jurisdiction over submerged lands beyond state coastal waters and allows the federal government to lease offshore resources.
Biden’s ban will put a permanent halt to offshoring drilling in all federal waters off the East and West coasts, the eastern Gulf of Mexico, and portions of the northern Bering Sea in Alaska. The Western Gulf of Mexico, where drilling is already happening, would still be permitted to drill.
Biden released a statement arguing that allowing more offshore drilling would result in ‘irreversible’ environmental damage and he has no choice but to protect the coasts for ‘our children and grandchildren.’
But unlike traditional executive actions, Trump will face an arduous process in trying to override Biden’s latest act of sabotage. A 2019 court ruling states that Presidents do not have the authority to overturn prior bans issued under The Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act.

Taiwan has asked South Korea for assistance investigating a Chinese-owned ship suspected of cutting a subsea cable off its northern coast on Friday.

Michigan is poised to cut down hundreds of acres of forest in order to make space for a solar panel development, MLive reported Thursday.
The state will soon start competitive bidding on approximately 420 acres of forested land near Gaylord, Michigan, to clear space for a solar farm while generating revenue and advancing the state’s long-term green energy targets,
Notably, one study published by Harvard researchers found that clearing forests to replace with solar panel developments may actually lead to an overall increase in greenhouse gas emissions, and a paper published by Chinese researchers also reached similar conclusions. There are also oil and gas wellheads in other areas of the woods that remain forested, according to MLive.
“This is pretty amazing. Michigan is not like California, it’s not like the sun is always shining there,” Dan Kish, a senior research fellow at the Institute for Energy Research, told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “This is the theater of the absurd, and it’s all driven by tax credits and giveaways from the federal and state government, and by mandates that the governor there has implemented.”

The Stunning Statistical Fraud Behind The Global Warming Scare
Global Warming: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration may have a boring name, but it has a very important job: It measures U.S. temperatures. Unfortunately, it seems to be a captive of the global warming religion. Its data are fraudulent
What do we mean by fraudulent? How about this: NOAA has made repeated “adjustments” to its data, for the presumed scientific reason of making the data sets more accurate.
Nothing wrong with that. Except, all their changes point to one thing — lowering previously measured temperatures to show cooler weather in the past, and raising more recent temperatures to show warming in the recent present.
This creates a data illusion of ever-rising temperatures to match the increase in CO2 in the Earth’s atmosphere since the mid-1800s, which global warming advocates say is a cause-and-effect relationship. The more CO2, the more warming.
But the actual measured temperature record shows something different: There have been hot years and hot decades since the turn of the last century, and colder years and colder decades. But the overall measured temperature shows no clear trend over the last century, at least not one that suggests runaway warming.
That is, until the NOAA’s statisticians “adjust” the data. Using complex statistical models, they change the data to reflect not reality, but their underlying theories of global warming. That’s clear from a simple fact of statistics: Data generate random errors, which cancel out over time. So by averaging data, the errors mostly disappear.
That’s not what NOAA does.
According to the NOAA, the errors aren’t random. They’re systematic. As we noted, all of their temperature adjustments lean cooler in the distant past, and warmer in the more recent past. But they’re very fuzzy about why this should be.
Far from legitimately “adjusting” anything, it appears they are cooking the data to show a politically correct trend toward global warming. Not by coincidence, that has been part and parcel of the government’s underlying policies for the better part of two decades.
As Tony Heller at the Real Climate Science web site notes, “Pre-2000 temperatures are progressively cooled, and post-2000 temperatures are warmed. This year has been a particularly spectacular episode of data tampering by NOAA, as they introduce nearly 2.5 degrees of fake warming since 1895.”
So the global warming scare is basically a hoax.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede was quick to dismiss the idea but, as the days pass by, he has now publicly emphasized his desire to pursue independence from Denmark, its former colonial ruler.
During his New Year speech, Egede made a significant change in the rhetoric surrounding the island’s future.

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warns of threats after New Orleans attack
In an interview Sunday morning on ABC’s “This Week,” Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas warned of a “very difficult threat landscape” in the wake of the New Orleans truck attack.
“We have not only the persistent threat of foreign terrorism — that, of course, created the Department of Homeland Security — but we have adverse nation-states, and for the past 10 years, we’ve seen a significant increase in what we term ‘homegrown violent extremism,'” Mayorkas told anchor George Stephanopoulos. “It is a very difficult threat landscape, and it is why that we as a community — not just the federal government, but state and local officials and residents — need to be alert to it and take the precautions necessary to avoid violence from occurring.”
Mayorkas emphasized that, despite immigration being the department’s “highest responsibility,” the New Orleans attack was unrelated to issues at the border.
“The assailant who perpetrated the terrorist attack in New Orleans was born in the United States, raised in the United States, and served in our armed forces,” he said. “It is not an issue of the border.”
Mayorkas said he has been in touch with South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
“I have spoken with Governor Noem a number of times, including on New Year’s Day and immediately thereafter, with respect to the horrific terrorist attack, and we have spoken substantively about the measures that we take, and I am incredibly devoted to a smooth and successful transition to the success of Governor Noem should she be confirmed as the Secretary of Homeland Security,” he said.

Republican Rep. Michael McCaul, who appeared on “This Week” after Mayorkas, warned of a resurgence of ISIS activity that he said “concerns me greatly.”
McCaul advised the Trump administration to be wary of attacks by those who become radicalized online, urging officials to “pay attention to the social media and connect the dots before these events happen.”
“You really have two types of threats. One is operational, the other one is inspired attacks radicalized over the internet,” McCaul said. “They’re both equally lethal, and they need to be focused on to stop it.”

Stop obsessing over diversity. We are all diverse and DEl is a cancer.
Thankfully we rejected the DEl candidate and will have a real President instead of Weekend at Bernie’s.
We must move on from the culture of weakness and self enrichment perpetuated by our senior political and military leaders. We are done with the blatant corruption. Our soldiers are done fighting wars without end states or clear objectives.
