Electric Big-Rigs Don’t Make Sense Even With $40,000 In Tax Credits
The Wall Street Journal reports You Can’t Buy That Diesel Truck.
California’s Advanced Clean Fleets rule says “zero-emission” trucks must be a growing share of semi-truck fleet sales. California imposes a similar mandate for passenger cars. Trouble is, truckers aren’t buying electric big rigs because they can’t afford them even with $40,000 in federal tax credits. Electric trucks cost twice as much as diesel-powered rigs and have a limited driving range—150 miles on average, compared to between 1,000 and 1,500 for diesel trucks. There are also few truck charging stations.
Yet under California’s rules, “dealers are restricted from selling a diesel truck unless they sell a ZEV truck,” the dealer group reports. The result: “New class 8 truck sales (ZEV and Diesel) were down 50 percent year-over-year in June 2024.” Truckers are driving older engines longer because they can’t buy newer diesel models, which results in more pollution.
Dealers say trucks are piling up on their lots—electric models because truckers won’t buy them, and diesel rigs that dealers consequently aren’t allowed to sell. Dealers say they incur monthly interest penalties on unsold truck inventory that can amount to more than $99,000.

The issues, which hit around 2:30pm ET, are plaguing the app used by millions of Americans.
Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, shows disruptions in major cities like New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Approximately 70 percent of users cite issues with the app, 17 percent cannot login to accounts and 13 said there is an issue with the server connection, according to Downdetector.

Casio says recent cyberattack ’caused system failure’
A cyberattack on systems used by Japanese tech manufacturer Casio caused a system failure that resulted in some services being unavailable to customers.
The company said on Tuesday that the intrusion into its network occurred on October 5.
“We are currently investigating the details, and an external specialist agency is also investigating to confirm whether any personal information or other important information has been leaked,” the company explained in a statement.
Almost exactly a year ago, the company said hackers accessed its education web application ClassPad.net, resulting in the leak of information from customers in 148 countries.

Major U.S. water company hit by cyberattack
. ANew Jersey-based company responsible for providing water to more than 14 million people was hit by a cyberattack which appears to only resulted in the loss of billing systems, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Monday.
American Water Works Company, which first learned of the attack on Oct. 3, said there does not appear to be any impact to water or wastewater services. No ransomware gang has claimed responsibility for the attack on the company, which has operations in 14 states and serves at least 18 military installations.
There has been a steady increase in cyberattacks against water facilities in recent years, as both states and criminals exploit the sector, which experts deem vulnerable. The White House has spent many months warning about the vulnerabilities of the more than 170,000 water systems in the United States, including by sending a letter to governors in March.
What if these attacks are a diversion while malware is placed into the system, the malware lays dormant until activated.

California Reports 3rd Possible Case Of Human Bird Flu
California officials are investigating a potential third case of bird flu in humans, with the individual likely getting infected from cows, according to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
CDPH confirmed the first two human cases of bird flu in California on Oct. 3. while the third possible case was revealed in an Oct. 5 update.
“The case was identified in a Central Valley individual who had contact with infected dairy cattle,” CDPH said in the update. “Specimens are being sent to the CDC to undergo confirmatory testing.”
There is “no known link or contact” between the third case and the first two reported cases, it noted. This suggests “only animal-to-human spread of the virus in California,” it said.
“Like the first two cases, this individual also experienced mild symptoms, including eye redness or discharge (conjunctivitis). None of the individuals have been hospitalized,” the department said.

US Detects China Interference in 2024 Election
The country’s adversaries are stepping up efforts to influence the U.S. election, including down-ballot races, intelligence officials told the press on Monday.
“We’ve continued to see actors ramp up their activities as we get closer to Election Day,” Voice of America quoted one anonymous intelligence official as saying. These actors “recognize that individuals are already voting— Americans are already voting—and operations can have a greater impact as we get closer,” they added.
Officials said China, Russia, Iran, and Cuba have sought to “launder their narratives” into election discourse, as well as aggravate divisions among Americans through hot-button issues such as immigration.

Energy Giant Puts Goal To Drastically Cut Oil, Gas Production On Ice
European energy company BP has abandoned its pledge to cut oil and gas production by 2030 as the firm aims to shore up investor confidence amid a slide in its share price, Reuters reported Monday.
BP unveiled plans in August 2020 to reduce its oil and gas output 40% by 2030, before dialing back the target to 25% in February 2023, according to Reuters. Now, in an attempt to regain the trust of investors, CEO Murray Auchincloss has dropped the target altogether in what sources told Reuters is part of a broader corporate strategy shift to focus on profitability and returns rather than green initiatives
The news follows BP announcing plans to sell its roughly $2 billion U.S. onshore wind portfolio in September and comes as the company’s share price sits at a near two-year low. It also coincides with a strategy shift at rival energy company Shell, which rejected further cuts to oil production in June 2023 shortly before its CEO Wael Sawan described lowering oil output as “dangerous and irresponsible” in a July 2023 interview with the BBC.

Verizon goes down for thousands across US with users unable to make calls or use internet
Verizon went down across the US on Monday, leaving users unable to make phone calls, send text messages or surf the web.
Downdector, a site that monitors online outages, showed issues began about 8am ET, with customers reported mobile phone and internet services are not working.
Customers in New York City, Washington DC and Phoenix had the highest concentration of reported issues.
This marks the second Verizon outage in less than two weeks, with the last hitting in September 30.
Verizon has more than 143 million users in the US – but the amount hit by the outage is unknown.

Axios reported Friday that the race between incumbent Wisconsin Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin and Republican challenger Eric Hovde has tightened significantly as Election Day approaches.
“Multiple Democratic sources told Axios there are ‘alarm bells’ ringing in the state, arguing the race is much tighter than what public polling has shown,” the news outlet said.
The Real Clear Polling average shows Baldwin with a 3.5 percent lead.

RNC Sues Fulton County Elections Director for Refusing to Hire Republican Poll Workers — Only 15 Republicans Hired Out of More than 800 Election Staff
Nadine Williams, the Director of Fulton County Department of Registration & Elections, allegedly excluded qualified Republican poll workers from the hiring process for the upcoming November 2024 election.
The Republican National Committee (RNC), along with the Georgia Republican Party and the Fulton County Republican Party, has filed a lawsuit against Nadine Williams, the Director of Fulton County Department of Registration & Elections.
The lawsuit alleges that Williams intentionally excluded qualified Republican poll workers from the hiring process for the upcoming November 2024 election, hiring only 15 Republicans out of 804 total election staff.
The lawsuit, filed in Fulton County Superior Court, seeks an emergency writ of mandamus, demanding Williams immediately appoint the Republican poll workers that were submitted for consideration.
Under Georgia law, political parties are entitled to submit lists of qualified individuals to serve as poll workers, and election officials are required to ensure balanced representation from both parties at polling places.
However, according to the lawsuit, the RNC and its affiliates claim that Williams has outright ignored their lists, violating the state law meant to ensure fair elections.
Out of 62 qualified Republicans submitted to work on election day, only 6 were hired. Similarly, of the 45 Republicans who applied for early voting positions, a mere 9 were selected.

CNN Analyst: Deeper Look at Polls Shows Kamala Harris Win Would Be ‘Historically Unprecedented’
One critical number could mean that Vice President Kamala Harris has little hope of winning the presidential election, according to a CNN data analyst.
Harry Enten said the biggest problem Harris faces is being part of an administration that most Americans think is not helping the country.
“If we look at whether voters believe we’re on the right track or the wrong track, I think that this sort of gets at a problem for Kamala Harris’s campaign. Just 28% of Americans think the U.S is on the right track,” he said, according to a video posted on RealClearPolitics.
According to Enten’s data, the average approval rating for incumbents who lose an election sits at around 25 percent which “looks a heck of a lot like” Harris’ 28 percent.

Experts say it’s possible for hackers to take control of EV features, even trigger battery fires
Roy Fridman, CEO and chief revenue officer for C2A Security, an Israel-based cybersecurity company focused on the automotive industry, said that one automaker told him that the software that controls a motor has 2 million lines of code. And that’s just the motor.
“You have hundreds of millions of lines of code inside a vehicle. If you were talking about autonomous vehicles, it’s even more. But the number of lines of codes in a vehicle is continuously growing,” Fridman told Just the News.
He said that in addition to the lines of code in the vehicle’s software there are also wireless connections to the internet for software updates, connections to charging infrastructure. And there are connections to the electricity grid for vehicle to grid technology, which allows EV owners to sell their energy storage capacity to grid operators.
“The more communication protocols you have, the more lines of code you have, the more you are susceptible to controlling something that will trigger events that are … let’s call it malicious,” Fridman said.
The Heritage Foundation released a report recently that included a proposal that Chinese-made EVs be banned. Software to remotely disable cars already exists inside American-made vehicles, and the report argues such a tactic could be used maliciously by a foreign adversary.

Chinese hackers access US telecom firms, worrying national security officials
A highly skilled group of Chinese government-linked hackers has in the last several months infiltrated multiple US telecommunications firms in a likely search for sensitive information bearing on national security, multiple sources briefed on the matter told CNN.
US investigators believe the hackers potentially accessed wiretap warrant requests, two of the sources said, but officials are still working to determine what information the hackers may have obtained. US broadband and internet providers AT&T, Verizon and Lumen are among the targets, the sources said.
US officials are concerned about the potential national security damage done by the hacking, which they only recently discovered. The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) has reached a tentative agreement with port owners and representatives of USMX, for a reported 62% contract increase in wages over six years. As a result, the dockworker strike is suspended as negotiations on other aspects of the contract are extended through January 15, 2025.

And at $63 an hour, the wages of East and Gulf Coast longshoremen would slightly exceed those that will be earned by West Coast longshoremen, who belong to a different union, at the end of their contract in 2027.

The allegations come as FEMA’s credibility continues to crumble under mounting evidence of gross mismanagement. This follows Mayorkas’s admission that FEMA “does not have enough funds to make it through the hurricane season.”
How is this possible, given that Congress just approved a $20 billion emergency package for FEMA? The whistleblowers claim the agency is diverting resources to other priorities—specifically, providing aid to illegal immigrants and using taxpayer dollars to cover the costs of border enforcement failures.

This news comes after FEMA has spent hundreds of millions of raspayer dollars on migrants due to Border Czar Kamala Harris’ open border instead of prioritizing funding for Americans impacted by disasters.

We have confirmed FEMA employees deployed, on the clock, awaiting orders in hotels. FEMA pre-disaster aid was withheld, exacerbating the emergency. It is also public that NGOs have purchased airline tickets for migrants through the use of FEMA funds.
The aftermath of Hurricane Helene is a major disaster, and your waste and unpreparedness are leaving Americans in distress—unable to access food, water, or medicine—and expecting help, with none coming.
Please provide answers to the following questions to my office by October 11, 2024:
(1) What policies and regulations of the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA prevent emergency funds from being wasted on illegal immigrants, including what conditions are placed on grantees of the agency?; and
(2) Of FEMA’s total budget for FY 2024, what portion of funds can be guaranteed to have been spent solely on American citizens, and what portion of funds was or may have been spent on noncitizens?; and

The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG) issued a scathing report criticizing agencies within the Biden-Harris administration for allowing released migrants without identification to board scheduled airline flights.
The DHS OIG, headed by Joseph V. Cuffari, released a heavily redacted report finding several DHS agencies did not fully assess risks associated with releasing migrants without identification into the United States and allowing them to travel on domestic flights. , when you combine artificial intelligence, automation, robotics and remote access capabilities, it is clearly predictable that a time will come when 80% of the ILA jobs can be replaced by remote controlled operational systems.
In China, many industrial ports are already fully automated and operated remotely by people using what look like gaming consols, robotics and computer screens.

Bank of America suffers outage as tens of thousands of users report struggling to get cash from ATM or check online accounts
Bank of America is experiencing a nationwide outage that is impacting tens of thousands users.
Downdetector, a site that monitors online issues, shows problems struck around 1pm ET, as users reported online and mobile banking and ATM services are down.
Some Bank of American customers have also reported their accounts are showing an empty balance.
As of 1:20pm ET, roughly 20,000 Bank of America had reported outages to Downdetector.

Vance-Walz debate moderators asked boring as heck questions about global warming, etc., ignoring topics voters want to hear about
CBS debate moderators Norah O’Donnell and Margaret Brennan weren’t as overtly biased at the vice presidential debate last night as ABC News’s David Muir and Linsey Davis had been at the previous one between President Trump and Kamala Harris, what with the one-way fact-checking and the three-against-one questioning.
But they managed to get their bias in all the same — by asking boring, irrelevant questions on topics most voters couldn’t care less about — global warming, for one, the threat to democracy,” child care, and abortion which are important only to Democrats. And in so doing, they ignored significant topics, like government spending, Ukraine, election integrity and other topics that voters of all stripes consistently tell pollster are most important to them.
It amounted to bias by omission.
Witness the opener, beginning with the newsy question about the Iran’s attack on Israel, which produced no fireworks there, followed by the Hurricane Helene question, which O’Donnell completely framed around the boring, irrelevant issue of global warming.
The story there is that the storm was big and the federal response was inadequate — they’re still in lumbering meetings over at FEMA, while the private sector, including President Trump and Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis, have already begun getting aid to the devastated. That didn’t get talked about at all — and since FEMA is the government, a serious question would have been what they’d do to turn around that agency, whose response has been inadequate for years — witness Lahaina — given its expanded budget, and mission creep, in feeding, transporting, and housing illegals. It doesn’t do anything well at all any more and here are the two guys who could do something to fix it.
According to Pew Research, climate change ranks at rock bottom among the most important issues to voters — among both Democrat and Republican voters. Same with Gallup, which notes that it ranks down there with cancer, infrastructure, elder care, and child care among the top issues of the day, with 2% of the voters saying that for them, it was the Big One.

Fact Check: Tim Walz Incorrectly Recounts Georgia Woman’s Sepsis Death to Push Abortion Agenda
CLAIM: Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) claimed during debate that Georgia mother Amber Nicole Thurman died in the “journey back and forth” from Georgia to North Carolina while seeking an abortion.
Verdict: False. Thurman died of sepsis in a hospital after experiencing complications from taking abortion pills to end her pregnancy with twins. Liberal outlet ProPublica published her story in September and blamed Georgia’s six-week abortion restriction for her 2022 death without clear evidence. The report notably cites a state committee, which said that Thurman may have had a “good chance” of surviving if the hospital had performed a D&C earlier to remove the remaining fetal tissue from her uterus.

There’s a young woman named Amber Thurman. She happened to be in Georgia, a restricted state. Because of that, she had to travel a long distance to North Carolina to try and get her care. Amber Thurman died in that journey back and forth.
Thurman did travel to North Carolina for a surgical abortion, but she missed her appointment and was given abortion pills instead, ProPublica reported. Thurman took the legally obtained pills when she was back at her home in Georgia.
Days after she took the second pill, Thurman reportedly began experiencing extremely heavy bleeding. By August 18, 2022, she vomited blood and passed out at home, leading to her boyfriend calling for an ambulance. She was transported to Piedmont Henry Hospital in Stockbridge that evening, ProPublica reported.
The hospital allegedly waited approximately 20 hours to perform a D&C even though she had been diagnosed earlier with “acute severe sepsis.” By the time of the procedure, her organs were failing and she needed a hysterectomy, the report alleges. Thurman’s heart ultimately stopped and she died during surgery.
Every abortion restriction in the United States notably contains exceptions for extreme medical emergencies and the life of the mother, and courts have ruled that these laws do not require “imminence” or “certainty” before a doctor can act to save a patient’s life. Furthermore, no law criminalizes care for miscarriage or ectopic pregnancies, conditions which can be life-threatening.

“Israel will continue to defend its citizens and uphold its national dignity, with or without António Guterres,” he concluded.
Israel’s foreign minister declared UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres ‘persona non grata’ and was henceforth banning him from entering Israel, according to a post on X/Twitter on Wednesday.

US sends second aircraft carrier group to Middle East – here are all the military assets in the region
The US ordered its nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to remain in the Middle East and a second vessel is en route with Middle East tensions at a fever pitch following Iran’s attack on Israel, officials said.
Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the USS Abraham Lincoln will stay in the Middle East as the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier speeds along to the region, according to the Pentagon.
The Truman, another Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, was originally set to replace the Lincoln before Austin ordered the presence of two warships in the region.
The vessel was previously in the Middle East during the early years of America’s war in Iraq and later oversaw 2,900 combat missions during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
The USS Georgia guided-missile submarine arrived in the Middle East earlier this month specifically to aid Israel in the event of an attack from Iran or Hezbollah.
The nuclear-powered sub is armed with cruise missiles capable of intercepting attacks from the looming attacks from Iran and its terror proxies.

The Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which Republicans and Trump signed in 2017, repealed the individual mandate — or, more technically, it reduced the penalty for not having insurance to $0.
Walz claimed that, without the Obamacare individual mandate, the Obamacare marketplace would collapse.
It has been over seven years since Republicans repealed the individual mandate and the Obamacare marketplace has not collapsed.
This backing of the individual mandate would appear to go against Harris’s pledge not to raise taxes on those making less than $400,000 per year.

Right behind it, 33 percent identified immigration as the top issue facing the country. Behind that came economy and jobs (29 percent), health care (17 percent), and women’s rights (16 percent).
A June Cygnal survey showed a plurality, 27.9 percent, choosing inflation and the economy as their top priority, followed by — yes — illegal immigration with 19.7 percent. In that survey, “threats to democracy” actually came in behind with 15.3 percent.

AI is making cyberattacks more sophisticated and cybersecurity teams are struggling to keep up
Cybersecurity attacks are on the rise, putting a strain on cyber professionals, especially as artificial intelligence (AI) makes them more sophisticated, experts say.
New research from the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) found that 39 per cent of the almost 6,000 global organizations they surveyed admit they are experiencing more cyberattacks, and 15 per cent of them are suffering from more privacy breaches compared to a year ago.
The study also revealed that cybersecurity teams in Europe are struggling to keep up with the attacks.

Cybersecurity head says there’s no chance a foreign adversary can change US election results
Security for America’s election systems has become so robust that Russia, Iran or any other foreign adversary will not be able to alter the outcome of this year’s presidential race, the head of the nation’s cybersecurity agency said Wednesday.
Jen Easterly told The Associated Press in an interview that voting, ballot-counting and other election infrastructure is more secure today than it’s ever been.
“Malicious actors, even if they tried, could not have an impact at scale such that there would be a material effect on the outcome of the election,” said Easterly, director of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
Federal agencies have warned of growing attempts by Russia and Iran in particular to influence voters before the Nov. 5 election and election conspiracy theories have left millions of Americans doubting the validity of election results.
Easterly said those efforts are primarily aimed at sowing discord among Americans and undermining faith in the security of the nation’s elections.

Lone wolf actors and small groups continue to present the greatest terror risk within the U.S., influenced both by domestic and international developments.
“Over the next year, the terrorism threat environment in the Homeland will remain high. We are particularly concerned about a confluence of factors this year, including violent extremist responses to domestic sociopolitical developments — especially the 2024 election cycle — and international events that domestic and foreign violent extremists likely will use to justify or encourage attacks,” the report concluded.
China, Russia and Iran remain among the U.S.’s greatest adversaries and most likely to target critical infrastructure as well as seek to undermine U.S. elections.

Electric grid operators warn U.S. Supreme Court that new EPA rules will cause widespread blackouts
Organizations that manage, coordinate and monitor electricity service for 156 million Americans across 30 states are warning that the Biden-Harris administration’s power plant rule will be catastrophic for the nation’s grid. Four regional trade organizations (RTO), as they’re called, recently filed an amicus brief, also known as a friend of the court brief, in support of a multi-state lawsuit against the EPA over the rule.
The EPA released the rules in April. They require coal-fired power plants that will be operating past 2039 to begin implementing carbon-capture technologies in just eight years. New gas-fired power plants will also need to add the technologies, with those operating 40% of their annual capacity or more to add carbon capture starting in 2032.
Isaac Orr and Mitch Rolling, co-founder and researchers with Always On Energy Research, performed an analysis on behalf of the North Dakota Transmission Authority on the impacts the rules would have on the Midcontinent Independent Systems Operator (MISO), an RTO that covers a swath of the center of the U.S.
The researchers say they found a number of problems. The EPA grossly overestimated the ability of intermittent wind and solar to deliver reliable electricity during peak demand periods, according to the analysis, and it also found the agency didn’t perform any reliability analysis on the rules. The result would be blackouts lasting days in some cases.
“So they don’t say things out in the open, that maybe they should,” Rolling said.
The 2019 blackouts in California, the deadly Texas blackouts in the 2021 Winter Storm Uri, and the Christmas 2022 blackouts in the Southeast, Rolling said, should have been a wakeup call for the country that there are growing risks to our electricity grid. So far, they haven’t deterred the net-zero by 2050 advocates from their agenda.

Kamala releases economic ‘plan’ that copies Bidenomics point by point
Vice President Kamala Harris released an 82-page document explaining her vision for the economy on Wednesday, but the plan shares much in common with President Joe Biden’s economic agenda.
The plan, titled “A New Way Forward For The Middle Class,” proposes to build upon Biden initiatives like student loan debt cancellation, industrial policy, huge subsidies for green energy and going after corporations for alleged price gouging. Prior to quitting the presidential race under immense political pressure, voters were largely dissatisfied with Biden’s economy, which had come to be defined by 40-year high inflation.
“Harris isn’t going to stray very far from current Biden policies,”
Harris aims to “[make] corporations and the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share in taxes,” something she plans to do by essentially replicating the $5 trillion tax hike that Biden’s fiscal year 2024 budget request called for. Some of Harris’ “common sense” reforms that would fuel this tax hike include a 25% unrealized capital gains tax for high-earning Americans and a top capital gains tax rate of 33%, an aggressive-but-less-ambitious alternative to the 44.6% rate that Biden has proposed.
Harris’ plan also calls for a $25,000 subsidy for qualifying first-time homebuyers. This would actually end up raising home prices, in large part because “the best way to reduce housing prices is to build more housing, not to subsidize existing housing,” according to Young.

East Coast Dock Workers Scheduled to Strike Starting Tomorrow
There are a lot of economic impacts that can be created by a dockworker strike; they range from inconvenient to severe depending on the industry and sector therein. With the U.S. manufacturing base diminished, imported goods now represent the system to deliver essential products into our nation.
Example: Within the network of essential goods, refined fuel is a critical component. I am not sure how the Port of Tampa and Port of Everglades would be impacted, but most fuel deliveries into Florida come from these two ports. I would consider fuel a vital and essential product. Stop the offloading of fuel and things can get sketchy quickly for the Florida economy.
On a global scale, stopping the export of USA generated Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) could be a potential problem for Europe. The EU is now dependent on non-Russian energy stores, the USA exports are a component of those needs. The U.S. Maritime Alliance, or USMX, an organization bargaining on behalf of the dockworkers’ employers, claims that only 25,000 workers will be impacted by the likely work stoppage. I don’t think we quite know which sectors would be most affected.
On the agricultural side, deliveries of perishable imports like bananas would likely lead to almost immediate price increases if those products were stopped.
♦ One angle is predictable. If there are shortages of goods that create problems for those in politics, hurricane Helene will likely be used as an excuse for supply chain disruption. It will be difficult to gauge the accuracy of any deflective claim. The ability to deflect this scenario, it’s not the ports – it’s the bridges and roads, can be exploited by the Biden administration.

Gavin Newsom Reverses Kamala Harris-Promoted Truancy Prosecutions Against Parents
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill into law that reverses measures supported by Vice President Kamala Harris that prosecuted parents for truancy.
While serving as the state’s attorney general, Harris praised the law and even used it against parents of children who were not showing up to school, an issue that has been highlighted as the 2024 presidential campaign continues.
SB-691, authored by State Sen. Anthony Portantino, modifies how school districts notify parents or guardians when their child has been classified as a truant. It also implements changes focused on improving attendance through supportive measures rather than targeting parents for prosecution.
The new law removes language related to legal penalties, including potential prosecution, and suggests that parents attend class with their children.
Under the legislation, districts sending information to parents about their child’s truancy will also include information about available mental health and supportive services for both the student and their family.
The law reinforces parents’ right to meet with school officials to discuss remedies for their children’s truancy. It also mandates that truancy notifications include information on how missing school can negatively impact a student’s academic success.
Portantino, who submitted the bill, argued that issuing threats to prosecute parents is not the best way to make sure their children attend class. “When we actually provide pertinent information and don’t try to criminalize parents, we actually get more kids in seats,” he told the San Francisco Chronicle.
This is in direct contradiction to Harris’ approach when she was California’s attorney general.

VA employees accessed Vance and Walz medical records, investigation underway
Walz and Vance are slated to participate in the vice presidential debate on Tuesday.
Department of Veterans Affairs employees have illicitly accessed the medical records both major parties’ vice presidential nominees, the agency confirmed to both campaigns. An investigation is ongoing.
At least 12 agency employees have improperly accessed the records of Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, and Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., according the Washington Post. Both men are veterans of the armed services, with Vance serving in the Marines and Walz in the National Guard.

The Startling Metadata Hidden within the Polling: Voters Love Trump
American Thinker partnered with Rasmussen polling to look at the battleground states, plus a few blue states in which there seems to be a softening toward Trump as Kamala’s campaign blunders along. What emerged from the ten states (AZ, GA, MI, MN, NC, NM, NV, PA, VA, and WI) was fascinating. Most amazingly, voters in all states, often by significant majorities, love Trump; they just don’t know it.
I’ve appended below a chart showing my analysis of the ten-state poll data. Here’s a link to a bigger version of the chart.
Most obviously, the chart is a sea of red. In a sane world, anchored to reality, the 2024 election should be a Trump blow-out.
The number one issue is the economy, and the most common number two issue is the border. Abortion is the next most common issue. (There were other issues in the poll, but these were almost invariably the top three.)
The economy is a red issue because Kamala is the incumbent. If voters are concerned about the economy, it means that they think the current situation is lousy, favoring the opponent (Trump). The same rationale applies to the border. Abortion, of course, is a blue issue because it’s the only thing Kamala can campaign on.
Block three reflects people’s responses when asked what they want the new president to address first. People across all but the bluest of blue states are concerned about immigration and the economy—which means they want a change from the status quo. Kamala is the status quo, so this favors Trump.
In every state, voters agree by huge margins that they are not better off, that they feel hopeless about their children, and that the world is less safe than it was four years ago. This is as profound an indictment as you will ever see of the current administration.
People agreed that the biggest threats, both foreign and domestic are either China or the Democrat party. Most worry about the Republican party, too, although a bit less, so that’s a win.
The most interesting metric is that when it comes to threats from evil actors overseas, voters overwhelmingly feel that Trump is more capable of handling those potentially existential threats. Only in New Mexico are voters split on whether Trump or Kamala is the better candidate.
the red chart shows that Trump must make a play for moderate Democrats and Independents. Again, he will not convince them to vote for him, but he needs to remind them that (a) they’re suffering terribly from Harris-Biden policies and (b) that they know he can make their lives better. That’s a winning message that needs to be shouted from the treetops.

The IMF’s “Chart of the Week” just dropped, promising a glimpse into how carbon taxes can be “less regressive”, “socially fair” and “economically efficient”.
Citing a new research paper, the chart of the week comes from research findings that carbon taxes inordinately penalize the poors,
“lower-income groups are affected disproportionately, because they spend a smaller share of their expenditure on products that benefit from exemptions than their higher-income counterparts.”
The paper is called Distributional Impacts of Heterogenous Carbon Prices in the EU and looked at European countries, however, the findings around the discrepancy apply anywhere – why?
Carbon taxes aren’t uniform across all countries, and aren’t uniformly applied across all industries – and that leaves differentials and gaps that the IMF claims are being exploited by rich people to the exclusion of low income households.
The solution? A global carbon tax.

The Harris campaign bussed in the press pool and a group of campaign supporters, essentially actors, to stage a photo shoot meet and greet and manufacture the appearance of support for Kamals Harris.
The August event was presented as “ordinary diners,” but was in fact a group of Harris campaign workers. Essentially this was typical astroturf sold as organic or authentic campaigning; it wasn’t. Everything around Kamala Harris is fake, manufactured and astroturf performance.

Virginia FAA contractor allegedly spied for Iran, shared private info on US airports, energy industry: DOJ
Abouzar Rahmati is accused of conspiring to work in the US on behalf of Iranian officials between December 2017 and June 2024
A former Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contractor was indicted Friday for acting as an illegal agent for the Iranian government, the Department of Justice said.
According to a DOJ release, from at least December 2017 through June 2024, 42-year-old Abouzar Rahmati allegedly met with Iranian government officials and acted on their behalf.
Rahmati, a naturalized U.S. citizen and resident of Great Falls, Virginia, previously was an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) 1st Lt., a branch of the Iranian Armed Forces, from June 2009 to May 2010. The IRGC is a designated terrorist group by the U.S. government.
After being discharged from the IRGC, the indictment alleges that Rahmati lied to the U.S. government regarding his military service with the IRGC in order to gain employment as a U.S. contractor.
Abouzar Rahmati has been indicted for acting as an agent of the Iranian government. (U.S. Department of Justice)
In Aug. 2017, prosecutors allege that Rahmati began communicating with a senior Iranian government official with whom he had previously attended college.
Four months later, Rahmati traveled to Iran and met with intelligence operatives. During the meetings, he agreed to obtain and provide them with information on the U.S. solar energy industry.
Following the initial meetings, Rahmati got to work as a spy for the Iranian government. Prosecutors said that he eventually became a contractor for FAA’s National Airspace System (NAS), which allowed him to be privy to sensitive information.

This legislation seeks to strip vaccine manufacturers of the immunity they have enjoyed for decades, leaving countless victims of vaccine injuries without legal recourse.
Gosar’s proposal is a monumental step in addressing the unfair protections afforded to pharmaceutical giants, who have raked in billions while hiding behind legal shields.
Big Pharma has used legal strategies to reduce its liability in court. One such strategy is utilizing the PREP Act, which shields biopharmaceutical companies from lawsuits related to products used in public health emergencies, including vaccines.
The PREP Act, passed in 2005, grants pharmaceutical companies immunity from lawsuits for products used to combat public health emergencies.
This Act has been utilized to shield companies like Pfizer and Moderna from legal liability for any unintentional issues arising from their COVID-19 vaccines.
Another one is the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA) of 1986, which established a no-fault system in the U.S. to compensate individuals for injuries caused by vaccines while also shielding pharmaceutical companies from most lawsuits related to vaccine injuries.
This act aimed to stabilize the vaccine supply and encourage the development of new vaccines.
“Under current law, it is nearly impossible to hold vaccine manufacturers liable for injuries caused by vaccines due to a 1986 law that unfairly created a special immunity carveout for Big Pharma, making it very difficult for vaccine-injured victims to win in a court of law,” said Rep. Gosar.
“My legislation strips away current immunity provisions unfairly shielding Big Pharma from the harms caused by their products and allows those injured by vaccines to pursue a civil lawsuit in state or federal court. Big Pharma doesn’t deserve a get-out-of-jail-free card for injuries caused by their harmful vaccines.”

wants to disclose is all new evidence the public is unaware of. It has the makings of October surprise after October surprise to benefit the Harris campaign if Judge Chutkan orders an unsealing. I want to focus on the effect on the accused’s constitutional rights if Smith gets away with this.
The context of this filing goes back to the Supreme Court’s immunity decision. Justice Roberts wrote that Trump’s interactions with VP Pence were presumptively immune since on the surface they were part of the president’s official acts. Roberts also wrote that depending on the context, Trump’s interactions with state officials in the weeks following the 2020 election could be official acts. As the head of the executive branch, Trump had a constitutional duty to “take care” the laws were enforced, including federal laws protecting the right to vote – and the vote itself- of all Americans.
In other words, it’s within a president’s official acts to take steps to secure a fair election- whether the president is a candidate or not. Justice Roberts wrote that whether Trump’s conduct involved his official acts – and therefore presumptively immune- must be decided by the trial judge after a review of the conduct alleged in the indictment, in light of the factual context in which that conduct occurred.
So Smith wants to put into the public record and lay before the judge Smith’s voluminous binders of secretly obtained evidence. Smith “proffers” that secret evidence to help guide the judge into ruling there is no immunity. In effect, Smith wants to show the judge (and the voting public) cherry-picked testimony and statements of witnesses Trump never had a chance to confront and cross examine, fundamental rights guaranteed by the Sixth Amendment. In simple terms, the right to be tried by a jury of one’s peers includes the right to confront and cross examine witnesses against the accused. What about the fact that this isn’t the trial, one may ask.
While it’s true we’re not at the trial yet, this process outlined by Justice Roberts will decide what conduct the jury will get to hear about and consider in reaching a verdict, versus conduct that is immune from prosecution that will not be part of the trial. And that determination cannot be made by the court without considering the facts- using evidence produced by the parties. But Smith wants to skip the fair hearing part.
He wants the judge to rely on the one-sided views and memories of witnesses who testified in secret, without testing any of that testimony by cross examination. Smith wants Judge Chutkan to run a one-sided kangaroo court, not use a process fair to both sides that American courts have used since colonial times.

That means if the “Democratic” Party succeeds, there will be no more swing states!! Moreover, the Biden/Harris administration has been flying “asylum seekers”, who are fast-tracked to citizenship, directly into swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin and Arizona.
It is a surefire way to win every election. America then becomes a one-party state and Democracy is over. The only “elections” will be the Democratic Party primaries. Gallup’s latest analysis reveals that more Americans now identify with the Republican Party than the Democratic Party.
This is the first time in recorded history by the Gallup Poll that Republicans have held a significant lead in party identification during the third quarter of a presidential election year.
According to a recent survey conducted in the third quarter (July-September), 48% of Americans either identify with or lean toward the Republican Party, compared to just 45% who identify with or lean toward the Democrat Party.

President Donald Trump announced that his Wisconsin rally had to be downsized because federal resources were diverted to protect the Iranian president, Masoud Pezeshkian, who has been linked to threats against Trump.
The rally, originally expected to draw tens of thousands, was relocated to a smaller venue, leaving many supporters turned away.
“We have a nice little room that probably holds 1,500, 2,000, maybe less. But there are thousands of people outside—40,000, 50,000—because this administration couldn’t give us the Secret Service necessary,” Trump told the packed crowd at the Prairie du Chien Area Arts Center.
“They’re guarding the Iranian President who’s looking to kill Trump. Can you believe it?”
