Trump floats US sovereign wealth fund as part of economic pitch
Trump in a speech to business leaders called for the creation of a U.S. sovereign wealth fund, a government-owned investment fund, to finance “great national endeavors.”
While offering few details, Trump said the fund would would yield a “gigantic profit” that could help “pay down the national debt” — an unmet goal from his 2016 campaign.
Sovereign wealth funds are prevalent throughout the industrialized and developing world, with the largest ones residing in oil-rich states like Norway, Saudi Arabia and other Persian Gulf nations as well as China, Singapore and Hong Kong.
“Why don’t we have a wealth fund? Other countries have wealth funds. We have nothing,” Trump said during his speech to The Economic Club of New York, adding that the U.S. fund would be financed by tariffs “and other intelligent things.”
According to the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute, roughly 100 funds currently manage nearly $13 trillion in assets. That includes a handful of U.S. states including Alaska, Texas, New Mexico and others which have set up their own types of government-run funds initially financed by oil, gas and mineral resources. Trump now wants to do the same at the federal level.

A sovereign wealth fund is a state-owned investment fund comprised of money generated by the government, often derived from a country’s surplus reserves. SWFs provide a benefit for a country’s economy and its citizens.
Understanding Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs)
The funding for a sovereign wealth fund can come from a variety of sources. Popular sources are surplus reserves from state-owned natural resource revenues, trade surpluses, bank reserves that may accumulate from budgeting excesses, foreign currency operations, money from privatizations, and governmental transfer payments.
In general, sovereign wealth funds usually have a targeted purpose. Some countries have sovereign wealth funds that can be similar to venture capital for the private sector.
Similar to any type of investment fund, SWFs have their own objectives, terms, risk tolerances, liability matches, and liquidity concerns. Some funds may prefer returns over liquidity and vice versa. Depending on the assets and objectives, sovereign wealth funds’ risk management can range from very conservative to a high tolerance for risk.

Georgia school shooter Colt Gray was bullied by classmates who called him gay, his father told detectives in an interview last year.
Colin Grey, 54, made the claims when he was interviewed by the Jackson County Sheriff’s office after the FBI received a tip that his son had threatened a shooting at his middle school.
‘It was very difficult for him to go to school and not get picked on,’ Colin Gray told an investigator, according to a transcript of the conversation obtained by DailyMail.com.
The father added: ‘It went from one thing to another… I was trying to get him on the golf team… [they were like] Oh, look, Colt’s gay. He’s dating that guy. Just ridiculed him day after day after day.’
Gray, 14, is charged as an adult in the deaths of Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53. Nine people were also hurt in Wednesday’s attack at Apalachee High school in Winder, outside of Atlanta

Voting season was supposed to kick off on Friday in North Carolina, until a state court intervened over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s place on the ballot.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. won an appeal over having his name removed from the state’s presidential ballot on Friday, delaying the expected mailing of the state’s absentee ballots on Friday.
It’s unclear if this ruling, which reverses a lower court’s denial, will be appealed. But it will at least temporarily delay the distribution of mail ballots.
As a third-party presidential candidate, Kennedy had fought to secure ballot access in North Carolina. But after he dropped out of the race and endorsed former President Donald Trump, he sought to remove himself as an option for voters, as polling indicates his presence on the ballot could hurt the Republican nominee.
The State Board of Elections ordered election officials not to mail ballots on Friday morning in an email late Friday morning.

Knodl who are in charge of overseeing the elections for the legislature in Wisconsin.of The braindead voted both Krug and Knodl back into office just this past August 13th (primary election). Exclusive: US sees increasing risk of Russian ‘sabotage’ of key undersea cables by secretive military unit
The US has detected increased Russian military activity around key undersea cables, and believes Russia may now be more likely to carry out potential sabotage operations aimed at disabling a critical piece of the world’s communications infrastructure, two US officials told CNN.
Russia has put increasing emphasis on building up a dedicated military unit, which deploys a formidable fleet of surface ships, submarines and naval drones, according to one of the officials. The unit, the “General Staff Main Directorate for Deep Sea Research,” is known by its Russian acronym GUGI.
“We are concerned about heightened Russian naval activity worldwide and that Russia’s decision calculus for damaging US and allied undersea critical infrastructure may be changing,” a US official told CNN. “Russia is continuing to develop naval capabilities for undersea sabotage mainly thru GUGI, a closely guarded unit that operates surface vessels, submarines and naval drones.”

Volvo gives up plan to sell only EVs by 2030
Car company Volvo has abandoned its target to produce only fully electric cars by 2030, saying it now expects to be selling some hybrid vehicles by that date.
The carmaker blamed changing market conditions for its decision to give up a target it had announced only three years ago.
It comes as the industry faces a slowdown in demand in some major markets for electric vehicles (EVs) and uncertainty due to the imposition of trade tariffs on EVs made in China.
Volvo, which has traditionally flaunted its environmental credentials, joins other major carmakers General Motors and Ford in rowing back on EV ambitions.
Volvo now expects at least 90% of its output to be made up of both electric cars and plug-in hybrids by 2030.

Ahead of tomorrow’s “most important data point in history” payrolls print, this morning we get the ADP employment report and jobless claims (and ISM Services) as an aperitif to tease the day traders and test the reaction functions of the algos.
Against expectations of adding 145k jobs (a slight improvement over July’s 122k), ADP’s Employment report printed a dismal +99k for August – the weakest print since January 2021 (and July’s +122k was revised down to +111k)…

Attorneys’ letters warned Colorado officials of Venezuelan gang control at Aurora apartments
Letters obtained by The Denver Gazette from the law firm representing CBZ Management — whose apartment complex in Aurora was shut down over what the city described as safety issues last month — show officials were fully aware weeks ago of accusations that a Venezuelan gang had “forcibly taken control” of the property.
In an Aug. 28 letter to Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser, the law firm wrote that CBZ Management had been informed that “Aurora Multi-Family Projects have been forcibly taken control of by gang(s) that have immigrated here from Venezuela.”
Aurora officials initially dismissed the company’s claims publicly, calling them “diversionary tactics” and “alternative narratives.” The issue, the city insisted, was the numerous violations of the local government’s code.
Officials have since walked back those claims back.

The FBI has confirmed that the 14-year-old Apalachee High School shooter, Colt Gray, a student at the Georgia school, was known to the agency as early as May 2023 after receiving “several anonymous tips about online threats to commit a school shooting at an unidentified location and time.”
This comes after we learned that an unidentified individual also warned the high school via phone that it would be the first of five schools targeted with violence prior to the shooting on Wednesday.
The full statement released by FBI Atlanta at 7:49 pm ET on X reads,
FBI Atlanta responded earlier today to Apalachee High School following reports of an active shooter. Throughout the day FBI personnel have been coordinating with and supporting local and state law enforcement. The FBI will dedicate all available resources, as requested, to seek justice and bring closure for the victims and their families.

And in May 2023, officers from Jackson County questioned both Gray and his father about a Discord channel believed to be linked to the then-13-year-old which allegedly made threats about a school shooting.
The Discord account had a user name written in Russian, and the translation of the letters spelled out the name Lanza, referencing Adam Lanza, the perpetrator of the Sandy Hook Elementary school tragedy, officers said.
Gray denied he was the author of the threats, telling police he’d shut down his Discord after being repeatedly hacked. He expressed concerns that someone would make those accusations about him.
Gray’s family has been tight-lipped when confronted by reporters.
Online, his aunt vowed ‘full throttle blood’ as she claimed he’d been subjected to ‘abuse’ his entire life. Those comments were deleted last night after a barrage of backlash. It is unclear how the 14-year-old got ahold of the weapon that was used in the attack, and authorities have not yet said what kind of firearm was used.

The ongoing dispute between DirecTV and the Walt Disney Company may prevent over 11 million households from watching the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
DirecTV and Disney are disputing the companies’ carriage agreement terms, which expired on September 1.
As a result of the dispute, DirecTv subscribers cannot access networks such as ESPN, FX, and ABC, which are hosting the presidential debate on September 10.
DirecTV currently has over 11.3 million subscribers in the United States, which means millions will not be able to watch the debate if DirectTV and Disney cannot make a deal or ABC decides not to stream the debate on their official website.

Shares of Dollar Tree plunged nearly 12% in premarket trading in New York after the discount retailer, which operates thousands of stores nationwide, posted fiscal second-quarter earnings that fell short of Wall Street expectations. The company also slashed its full-year outlook, pointing to mounting financial pressures on middle-income and higher-income customers. This comes less than a week after major rival Dollar General reported a “financially constrained core customer” that sent shares crashing the most on record.

This week, House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) and Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member Chuck Grassley (R-IA), along with House Energy & Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA); House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO); and Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Mike Crapo (R-ID), penned a letter demanding more details on the CMS bailout – which Democrats call a “demonstration program.”
“Because of Democrats’ rushed, partisan policymaking in the IRA, America’s seniors now face skyrocketing premiums for prescription drug coverage next year,” the Republicans said. “This will constrict their choices when making health coverage decisions for next year.”
“To cover up rising premiums ahead of November, the Biden-Harris Administration announced a new demonstration program, which will buy down premium increases by sending billions of taxpayer dollars directly to large insurance companies,” they said.

Kamala Harris reached for another GOP policy proposal this week, calling for a small business tax break rejected by almost all Democrat lawmakers six years ago and supported by every Republican member of the House.
Harris is proposing an expansion of the tax deduction for small business start-up expenses from $5,000 to $50,000, according to descriptions of the proposal citing anonymous campaign officials
The idea mirrors similar legislation that has been proposed several times by Republicans, most prominently by Congressman Vern Buchanan (R-Fla.). In 2018, the House passed a version of Buchanan’s bill that would have increased the deduction to $20,000. Every Republican member of the House voted in favor of the legislation, and nearly all Democrats voted against it. The Trump administration supported the bill.
The bill was included in a legislation package meant as a follow-up to the 2017 Trump tax cuts. It was known as “Tax Reform 2.0.”
In the past, Democrats have attacked tax breaks for small businesses, many of which are operated as so-called pass-through entities, claiming they mostly benefit the wealthy. Harris’s proposal is aimed at making her seem more business-friendly than the Biden-Harris administration has been.

FBI Warns Of North Korean ‘Social Engineering’ Schemes To Steal Crypto
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has issued a warning to employees at digital asset firms regarding the latest attempt by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to steal crypto.
In a Sept. 3 notice, the FBI said North Korean malicious cyber actors were targeting workers at decentralized finance and cryptocurrency companies to steal funds through “complex and elaborate” social engineering campaigns. Specifically, the federal agency warned that the scammers had researched firms associated with cryptocurrency-tied exchange-traded funds, or ETFs.
How the scam works
The actors employed schemes, including fake offers of employment or investment opportunities and impersonating well-known individuals associated “with certain technologies” to trick users. The scammers may then provide a link to a “pre-employment test” or another download to install malware.
“The actors usually attempt to initiate prolonged conversations with prospective victims to build rapport and deliver malware in situations that may appear natural and non-alerting,” said the FBI, adding:
“The actors usually communicate with victims in fluent or nearly fluent English and are well versed in the technical aspects of the cryptocurrency field.”

Elon Musk’s internet service, Starlink, has announced that it will comply with a Brazil Supreme Court order to shut down X while vowing to pursue “all legal avenues” to allow the recently banned Musk-owned social media platform to operate in Brazil.
The move, announced by Starlink in a statement on Sept. 3, marks an apparent reversal after the country’s telecommunications regulator previously said that the satellite-based internet provider stated that it wouldn’t agree to block the social media platform.
Starlink said it would abide by an order from Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes requiring internet service providers and app stores to block X from their platforms.
“Regardless of the illegal treatment of Starlink in freezing our assets, we are complying with the order to block access to X in Brazil,” Starlink’s statement said.“We continue to pursue all legal avenues, as are others who agree that @alexandre’s recent orders violate the Brazilian constitution.”

The release of the journal provides very little new information about the shooter’s motives but raises interesting questions about the public’s right to review all the investigative material, including, and especially, mental health records.

Who wants to bet that not one of the psychiatrists, therapists or MDs at Vanderbilt ever advised Hale’s parents or Hale that none of the psychiatric drugs being prescribed actually treated any known abnormality in the brain? In other words, not one of Hale’s treating physicians ever said “hey, we don’t know what is causing your behavior, but these drugs will make you feel different.

An active shooter situation at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia, about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta, left two dead and several injured on Wednesday morning.
The school was placed on a hard lockdown, which was suspended at approximately 11:30 am, according to reports. Per the New York Post, “At least one person is dead and a suspect is in custody after authorities responded to a report of an active shooter at a northern Georgia high school on Wednesday.”

CDC, FBI Working To Hide Data Showing Shootings Stopped By Good Guys With Guns
The CDC, FBI, and legacy media are conspiring to “debunk” the truth that armed, law-abiding citizens prevent crime and stop mass shootings.
For years, gun control activists have sought to “debunk” the so called “good guy with a gun myth” in an effort to pass more stringent controls on one of our nation’s most cherished liberties. In support of this agenda, the federal government in conjunction with legacy media has sought to suppress the abundant evidence in support of the truth that armed, law-abiding citizens are one of the most effective deterrents against public mass casualty attacks.
the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) under the Biden Administration has sought to suppress data proving that armed citizens help prevent crime by removing its estimates of defensive gun uses from its website. For almost a decade, the CDC referenced a 2013 National Academies of Sciences report noting that people used guns to stop crime anywhere from about 64,000 to 3 million times a year.
This decision was taken after gun control activist Mark Bryant, founder of the Gun Violence Archive, lobbied the CDC to remove “misinformation” regarding defensive gun use estimates because of they are cited by “gun rights folks” to stop gun control legislation. Soon after, the CDC took down these estimates and now lists no numbers.
The FBI has also shown itself to be susceptible to political pressure. The FBI defines an active shooter attack as occurring when an individual actively kills or attempts to kill people in a populated, public area. This measure includes everything from just one person shot at, even if the target isn’t hit, to a mass public shooting. It doesn’t include, however, shootings involving other crimes, such as robbery or fighting over drug turf.
To compile its list, the FBI hired researchers at Texas State University. Police departments don’t record these cases, so the researchers relied on Google searches to find news stories about these incidents. As such, the FBI’s evidence relies on a dataset that is actively hostile to the truth.
The Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), has found many more missed cases and is keeping an updated list. As such, the CPRC numbers tell a much different story: Out of 515 active shooter incidents from 2014 to 2023, armed citizens stopped 180, saving countless innocent lives. Our numbers even excluded 27 cases where a law-abiding citizen with a gun stopped an attacker before he could fire a shot.
Overall, the CPRC estimates that law-abiding citizens with guns have stopped over 35 percent of active shootings over the last decade and 39.6 percent in the last five years. This figure is eight times higher than the four percent estimate made by the FBI.
This figure increases even more when controlling only for areas where citizens are legally allowed to carry a firearm; after all, you can’t except that law-abiding citizens will stop attacks in gun-free zones. In places where law-abiding citizens are allowed to carry firearms, we estimate that armed civilians stopped 51 percent of active shootings over the past decade. Over the last five years, that figure was 53.1 percent.

The House Education and Workforce Committee issued subpoenas Wednesday to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Minnesota Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Agriculture for how they responded to what federal prosecutors have called the largest pandemic fraud schemes in the country.
The subpoenas, obtained first by NBC News, demand that Walz, Minnesota Commissioner of Education Willie Jett, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Agriculture Inspector General Phyllis Fong turn over documents concerning oversight of the nonprofit Feeding Our Future, which is alleged to have misused millions of dollars intended to feed children during the pandemic.
According to a June state audit report, the Minnesota Education Department failed to properly oversee Feeding Our Future, saying the department’s “actions and inactions created opportunities for fraud.”
State education officials are tasked with overseeing federal programs that reimburse groups like Feeding Our Future for providing free, nutritious meals to children. The state audit called the Minnesota Education Department’s oversight “inadequate.”

, the Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections and Senate Committee on Shared Revenue, Elections and Consumer Protection, sent the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Agency Director (DOT) an immediate request for data information that documents how many non-US citizens in Wisconsin have a driver’s license and or a photo ID.
The DOT has since that meeting has refused to release any information due to “privacy” concerns for non-US citizens with a Wisconsin driver’s license.
The DOT request from these Legislative Committees, dated September 3, 2024 (See attached DOT Letter Non-US Citizens Driver’s License), asks for an immediate release of the non-US citizens data from the DOT that have a Wisconsin driver’s license and or a photo ID to assist all Wisconsin Clerks (1,852) in the administration of elections with integrity to make sure only US citizens receive a ballot for the Wisconsin Presidential Election in November.
The DOT was reminded in the Legislative Letter that as a State Agency they (DOT) are absolutely required to release this information upon request to the proper authorities per Wisconsin State Statute 13.45 (7) (click here – Wisconsin Legislature: 13.45).

A Missouri man is facing federal charges following a series of alleged violent threats made via social media against former President Donald Trump,
Justin Lee White, 36, is accused of using interstate communication to spread a slew of online threats to injure Trump, Republicans, and law enforcement in violation of federal law, culminating in a multi-agency investigation led by the FBI, according to the complaint.
The FBI said in the criminal complaint that from late July to August, White allegedly posted multiple messages on platforms like TikTok and Facebook threatening violence if his demands regarding supposed electoral fairness were not met.
The TikTok video was captioned, “This is a message to Donald Trump and the Republicans. If you don’t play…”
In one post dated Aug. 22, White allegedly included a photograph of a firearm and ammunition, warning that any police officer who approached his residence would be met with violence. Jim Jordan investigates Jack Smith’s latest Trump indictment, alleges it breaks ’60-day rule’
House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Friday demanding documents, communications, and other information regarding the superseding indictment filed by special counsel Jack Smith against Donald Trump on August 27, and whether Garland personally approved of the indictment.
Jordan noted that the Supreme Court issued their presidential immunity opinion on July 1 “explaining the parameters of presidential immunity and rebuking Special Counsel Jack Smith for violating this Constitutional principle in his political prosecution of President Donald J. Trump,” the letter, obtained by the Daily Caller, stated.
On August 27 Smith filed the superseding indictment “in an attempt to fix the constitutional defects inherent in his initial indictment,” but in doing so, “Special Counsel Smith appears to have violated longstanding Department policy intended to protect our democratic processes.”
Jordan stated that across administrations on both sides of the aisle, the Department of Justice “has attempted to safeguard the sanctity of the electoral process by adhering to a ’60-day rule,’ under which federal prosecutors avoid ‘the return of indictments against a candidate for office within 60 days of a primary or general election.”
Jordan said that this was not formally codified, but there is a “wide acceptance that the 60-day rule is critical to protecting the integrity of the electoral process.” He added that some senior DOJ officials have extended this prohibition beyond 60 days. Jordan noted that former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates had told the DOJ’s Office of the Inspector General that 90 days from the election, if “you think it has a significant chance of impacting an election,” would be a better timeline, with former Attorney General Loretta Lynch affirming this.

94 US Banks Burdened by Uninsured Deposits – Risk of Bank Runs
A new study by Florida Atlantic University believes that 94 separate US banks are facing a significant risk of bank runs. The at risk banks have all reported a 50% or higher ratio of uninsured deposits to total deposits. Basically, they simply do have the hard currency to shell out in the event of a panic.
Banks currently limit cash withdrawals under the pretense of money laundering and security. They will ask all sorts of questions if you even TRY to withdraw your money. They realize we are on the verge of a crisis in banking on a global scale.
The University’s Liquidity Risk from Exposures to Uninsured Deposits index found that BNY Mellon and John Deere Financial have a 100% ratio of uninsured deposits, followed by State Street Bank (92.6%), Northern Trust (73.9%), Citibank (72.5%), HSBC Bank (69.8%), JP Morgan Chase (51.7%), and U.S. Bank (50.4%).

A Sales Recovery Did Not Occur”: Pending Home Sales Crash To Record Low
After tumbling in April, and rebounding modestly in June, analysts expected a continued gain in pending home sales in July, but it wasn’t meant to be: moments ago the NAR reported that in July, Pending Home Sales tumbled 5.5% MoM, a huge miss to the 0.2% expected gain (and down from a 4.8% increase in June), and also slumped 4.6% YoY, a modest improvement from the 7.8% plunged in June but also missing expectations of a -2.0% drop.
That dragged the Pending home sales index to 70.2%, a fresh record low.
The Pending Home Sales Index is a leading indicator for the housing sector, based on pending sales of existing homes. A sale is listed as pending when the contract has been signed but the transaction has not closed, though the sale usually is finalized within one or two months of signing.
“A sales recovery did not occur in midsummer. The positive impact of job growth and higher inventory could not overcome affordability challenges and some degree of wait-and-see related to the upcoming U.S. presidential election,” NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun said in a statement.
Sales decreased in all four US regions, especially in the Midwest and South. The Northeast registered the smallest decline last month, and Yun noted the New England region has performed better than others recently.
The Northeast PHSI waned 1.4% from last month to 64.6, an increase of 2.4% from July 2023. The Midwest index reduced 7.8% to 67.8 in July, down 11.4% from one year ago.
The South PHSI sank 6.5% to 83.5 in July, falling 11.5% from the prior year. The West index shrunk 3.8% in July to 56.2, down 6.0% from July 2023.

First Amendment Group Says It Plans To Support Arizona Resident Arrested For Speaking At City Meeting
Legal help is reportedly on the way for an Arizona resident arrested for criticizing her city government during a public meeting last week.
On Monday, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), a First Amendment advocacy group, indicated plans to sue the city of Surprise after its mayor had local activist Rebekah Massie detained for scrutinizing a city employee during the locality’s Aug. 20 City Council meeting.
“The First Amendment protects every American’s right to criticize public officials,” FIRE Attorney Conor Fitzpatrick said in a statement given to The Federalist. “The last thing people should fear when they go to a city council meeting to make their voice heard is leaving in handcuffs.”
Massie was arrested following the meeting and is currently facing class 1 and 3 misdemeanor charges, according to The Arizona Republic. Individuals deemed guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor could face up to six months in jail and be fined a maximum of $2,500. Those found guilty of a class 3 misdemeanor could spend up to a month in jail, face $500 in fines, and one year of probation.

“Arlington Cemetery officials claimed the families didn’t want any media, photography, or videography at Section 60, contradicting what the families had actually requested. The families were fine with the media, designated by the Trump team, but Arlington kept pushing back, obstructing the process,” the source continued. “This would have not happened without Speaker Johnson.”

The summer months, typically associated with lower respiratory virus activity, have instead seen a significant uptick in COVID-19 infections. Several factors contribute to this unexpected surge.
One factor is the high transmissibility of newer variants. The virus has continued to mutate, with certain variants displaying enhanced ability to spread, even among populations with high vaccination rates. While vaccines remain effective at preventing severe disease and death, breakthrough infections are becoming more common, especially as immunity from earlier vaccinations wanes.
