A senior Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) official leading the White House’s green airplane push owns an oil well in Wyoming, the Washington Free Beacon reported Wednesday.
FAA administrator Michael Whitaker’s financial disclosure form, made public this month, shows he owns an oil well in Uinta County, Wyoming, and leases it to Hilcorp Energy, the U.S.’ largest privately owned oil company, the outlet reported. Whitaker, who has tightened a variety of fuel efficiency standards for commercial airplanes while running the FAA, claimed the well was worth as much as $100,000 and reported $5,000 in annual royalty earnings from his leasing arrangement with Hilcorp.

The Telegram CEO had a face-to-face discussion with the French leader in 2018 that was not previously reported, the outlet has said
French President Emmanuel Macron had lunch with Telegram CEO Pavel Durov in 2018 and proposed that he move the company’s headquarters to Paris, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing anonymous sources.
Durov declined the offer at the time, the outlet said, citing people familiar with the matter. During the meeting, which has only recently come to light, Macron reportedly discussed granting French citizenship to the Russian-born entrepreneur.
According to the article, the lunch took place a year after French and United Arab Emirate intelligence services reportedly hacked Durov’s iPhone in a joint operation carried out over concerns that Telegram was being used by Islamic State to organize terrorist attacks, the report said.

House Foreign Affairs Committee chair calls on Sullivan to testify publicly on Afghanistan withdraw
Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, is calling on National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to publicly testify on the Afghanistan withdraw.
McCaul wrote a letter to the White House on Tuesday, which said he would move to “compel” Sullivan to testify if he does not agree to do so on his own by August 30.
In his letter, McCaul wrote that “crucial questions” remain unanswered about the withdraw, including the role of the National Security Council played in “usurping congressionally designated responsibilities of the State Department and Defense Department.”

Following his school’s outrageous action, Horst received incredible backing beginning Thursday from other students, parents, and local lawmakers demanding the outrageous decision be reversed. Students, parents, and other Edmond residents even organized a beautiful, patriotic protest yesterday, which was full of American flags, to demand Edmond High School back off.

A new poll has found that around three quarters of Democrat voters have no clue what Kamala Harris’ positions on key political issues are.
The survey, conducted by the Media Research Center, found that over 70 percent of “registered Democrats“ as well as Independents said they “either had not heard of Harris’s position or were unsure” on ten different issues.
The poll found that 78% of voters surveyed were unaware that Harris promoted a fund that aided violent BLM agitators to be bailed out of jail during the 2020 unrest.
Seventy-four percent said they were unaware that Harris supported decriminalizing illegal immigration, and 72 percent had no clue that Harris “never visited a conflict zone on the border as Border Czar.”

Chinese hackers believed to be backed by the government have gained access to American government and military accounts, according to a new report.
These attacks are ‘unusually aggressive and sophisticated’ and have allowed hackers to gain access to at least two major internet service providers with a combined reach of millions of customers, The Washington Post reports.

A federal judge has dismissed charges against a Kansas man for possessing a machine gun, saying prosecutors failed to establish that a federal ban on owning such weapons is constitutional.

Starting on Oct. 1, the recommendation is to remain indoors after 5:00 p.m. until the first hard frost.

Cyber attack hits Pittsburg’s city computer system
A cybersecurity attack last weekend disrupted a portion of this city’s computer system, making it difficult for the public to access City Council agendas.
The security breach was detected on Aug. 18, prompting the city to seek help from external cybersecurity specialists.
“We took the whole system down as soon as our internal software triggered an alert,” Pittsburg City manager Garrett Evans said Friday.
He said various tests were conducted to ensure there were no blatant breaches on the system, and the work with cybersecurity specialists is ongoing.
The cyber attack hindered access to the Pittsburg City Council agenda and minutes page, which members of the public can view past and upcoming agendas and staff reports, through an an external platform called Onbase Web.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell says ‘the time has come’ to cut interest rates
With inflation nearly defeated and the job market cooling, the Federal Reserve is prepared to start cutting its key interest rate from its current 23-year high, Chair Jerome Powell said Friday.
Powell did not say when rate cuts would begin or how large they might be, but the Fed is widely expected to announce a modest quarter-point cut in its benchmark rate when it meets in mid-September.

Eugene Vindman, a Trump whistleblower-turned-Democratic congressional candidate in Virginia, is facing a Federal Election Commission complaint over his campaign’s allegedly illegal coordination with an outside group.
The complaint, filed with the FEC on Wednesday by the Functional Government Initiative, calls for the agency to investigate Vindman, the Democrat’s campaign, and a political action committee called VoteVets. It requires that if agencies make a determination about whether the employee under investigation poses a threat to others. If not, they should be given other duties while investigated. If so, they should be taken out of the office and placed on investigative leave.
This requires that agencies swiftly investigate and propose discipline or removal. Of course, if agencies actually have it out for you, they’ll just suspend your security clearance and put you on unpaid leave. That’s what happened to the USSS agents down in Cartagena in 2012, and it has unjustly happened to some of our clients in the FBI (notably Marcus Allen and @GOBactual). Here, all the USSS has done is place these employees on administrative duties, which it should at the very least have done on July 13–if not placing them on investigative leave that night.

CISA Censors Join Forces With Private Groups To Target So-Called Election ‘Misinformation’
The SCC and GCC claim in the document that supposed “mis-, dis-, and malinformation” comes from not just “foreign actors” but also “domestic sources aiming to sow divisions and reduce national cohesion.”
“False narratives erode trust and pose a threat to democratic transitions,” the document reads.
The document includes a chart with categories of “mis-, dis-, and malinformation,” one of which is the “delegitimization of election results.” It defines this as “narratives or content that delegitimizes election results or sows distrust in the integrity of the process based on false or misleading claims.”
The chart features examples of alleged election “rumor” and official talking points of “reality.”
A line at the bottom of the page notes the categories were “adapted from the Election Integrity Project’s (EIP) final report on misinformation and the 2020 election.”
The House Judiciary Committee found last year that CISA used the EIP before the 2020 election to “launder its censorship activities” to bypass the First Amendment and public criticism. The EIP made “misinformation” reports available to “select parties,” including the federal government, universities, and Big Tech companies.
“The EIP targeted true information, jokes, and political opinions of Americans across the political spectrum, but especially conservatives,” according to a press release.
The groups targeted The Federalist’s Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway and CEO Sean Davis in 2020 along with former President Donald Trump and other conservative posters.
Former Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson designated election infrastructure as a “critical infrastructure subsector” in 2017 — including it in the “National Infrastructure Protection Plan.”

Ford Ditches Plans For Electric SUV As Industry Continues To Backpedal From EVs
The trend of legacy automakers ditching their plans and investments in EVs continues, with Ford reportedly the latest to cancel plans for a large three-row electric sport-utility vehicle, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal.
The company will take $1.9 billion in related special charges and write-downs as a result, the report said.
Ford is canceling due to pricing pressures and increased competition, instead opting to focus on hybrid versions of its popular Explorer and Expedition models.
This decision reflects a broader trend among automakers that we have written about over the last year or two, especially since the UAW extorted negotiated their latest labor contracts from the Detroit automakers.
Additionally, consumer demand has been weaker than anticipated, with concerns over cost and charging infrastructure. As a result of all of these factors, combined with increased competition out of China, legacy automakers are scaling back EV investments. A federal judge on Tuesday ordered Elon Musk’s X to unseal the list of shareholders involved with X Holdings Corp., giving the public an official look at the investors who aided his $44 billion purchase of the social media platform previously known as Twitter in October 2022.
Shareholders named in the document include some of Silicon Valley’s most prominent venture capitalists and entrepreneurs — as well as a fund linked with hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
The filing lists nearly 100 entities with a stake in X, although many appear to represent different funds controlled by the same firm or person. Other investors include venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal al Saud; Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey; and 8VC, a venture capital firm co-founded by Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of intelligence contractor and data analysis platform Palantir.
X originally filed the list of investors under seal as part of a lawsuit brought in 2023 by former Twitter employees who alleged that the entrepreneur violated their arbitration agreements by failing to pay them certain fees after he bought the company. On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Susan Illston granted Silverman’s motion to unseal the filing and ordered X to file an unredacted copy on the docket. Harris, Biden Press Israel to Give in to Hamas’s Demands on Hostage Deal
Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday to pressure the Israeli government to yield to Hamas’s demands for a hostage deal.
On Monday, Netanyahu met with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and agreed to a U.S. “bridging” proposal that aimed to reconcile Israel’s demands with those of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, which holds 109 hostages.
However, Hamas appeared to reject the deal, insisting that Israel had created “new” conditions by insisting that it would not withdraw from strategic corridors in Gaza necessary to curb terrorism and stop Hamas from rearming.
Netanyahu said that pressure needed to shift to Hamas, instead of Israel. But instead of pressuring Hamas — over whom they have no direct leverage — Harris and Biden have reportedly put more pressure on Israel, following the demands of Arab countries.

Donald Trump Accused of Committing ‘Massive Crime’ With Reported Phone Call
Donald Trump has been accused of violating federal law by the American Muckrackers PAC after allegations were made he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the ceasefire deal the U.S. is helping negotiate between Israel and Hamas.
The former president allegedly made the call on August 14, according to Axios, and repeated in Reuters, which cited two unnamed “U.S. sources who were briefed on the call.”
This claim was reported again by PBS host Judy Woodruff on Tuesday, who said, “the reporting is that former President Trump is on the phone with the PM of Israel urging him not to cut a deal right now because it’s believed that would help the Harris campaign.”
Both Netanyahu’s office and Trump denied that the call took place. In a statement quoted by The Times of Israel, a spokesperson said: “Contrary to media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not speak yesterday with former President Donald Trump.”
Woodruff has since apologized for her comments, saying it was not based on original reporting and that she had not seen later reporting that the story had been denied by Israel and Trump. “This was a mistake, and I apologize for it,” Woodruff said.

China’s CDC Reports New COVID-19 Cases Hit Nearly 20 Percent
The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that new COVID-19 infections in the country of origin have increased to nearly 20 percent in the past few weeks, as two new Omicron subvariants spread across the country.
But while increases to China’s official COVID-19 test positivity rate mirrors that of the rest of the world, its number of reported COVID-19 deaths remains orders of magnitude lower than is expected for a country of its population, given the ongoing reports of COVID-19-related deaths in other countries.
According to its Aug. 8 report, China’s CDC reported that the COVID-19 test positivity rate in the country spiked to 18.7 percent in the last week of July, up from 8.9 percent at the start of the month. According to the official data, that rate has not exceeded 8 percent since the start of the year.
The trend of China’s official infection data parallels that reported in the United States. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S. CDC), in its Aug. 8 biweekly update, reported that the COVID-19 test positivity rate in the United States had increased in the past six months to 17.6 percent.
According to the World Health Organization’s monitoring data from 84 countries, the overall COVID-19 test positivity rate stands above 10 percent but varies by region. That percentage has been rising for weeks, it said. Europe also reported a 20 percent increase in its positive COVID-19 tests since the start of 2024.

More Than 70 Percent Of Democrat Voters Don’t Know Kamala’s Policy Positions
Left-wing corporate media’s non-stop defensive coverage of Democrat presidential nominee Kamala Harris is working, with a new poll from Media Research Center finding more than 70 percent of Democrats are unaware of what Harris’ policy positions are.
Media Research Center surveyed 1,200 “registered Democrats and Independents who voted for Joe Biden in 2020” and found that on 10 “different aspects of Harris’s public record … between 71% and 86% of these Democrats and Independents said they either had not heard of Harris’s position or were unsure.”
Data shows that when it comes to the key issues like immigration and crime, most Democrats and Independent-Biden supporters have been kept in the dark on Harris’ most communist-like stances. For example, 78% of voters surveyed were unaware that Harris promoted a fund that led to violent protesters being bailed out of jail during the 2020 riots. Seventy-five percent of those polled were unaware that Harris was once named “the most liberal U.S. senator in 2019.”
Seventy-four percent of those surveyed had no idea that Harris wanted to decriminalize illegally entering the country, while 72 percent were unaware that Harris “never visited a conflict zone on the border as Border Czar.”

Rasmussen surveyed nearly 9,000 American adults and found that in July the percentage of Americans who are unemployed and looking for work — this is the number that the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) should report each month — was 8.4%. The BLS reported a rosy 4.3% unemployment rate last month, up from June’s equally imaginary 4.1%.

A Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Inspector General (IG) report reveals many are “at risk for trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor.”
The DHS IG report looked into the massive pipeline under Biden and Harris where Unaccompanied Migrant Children (UCs) arrive at the border, are taken into DHS custody before being transferred to Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) custody, and more likely than not resettled with adult sponsors in American communities — the majority of whom are not the UC’s biological parents.
In particular, the report notes that from Fiscal Year 2021 through Fiscal Year 2023, Biden and Harris’s agencies have released about 365,705 UCs into the U.S. interior. For comparison, the last two fiscal years of the Trump administration released just about 83,100 UCs into the U.S. interior.

The first shot to hit Thomas Crooks, the man who sprayed eight shots at a Butler, Pennsylvania Trump rally on July 13 – hitting Trump in the ear and killing an attendee – came from a local SWAT operator who was about 100 yards away from the building on which Crooks was positioned, Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) said in a preliminary investigative report.
When the SWAT officer saw Crooks moving around the rooftop, he quickly left his post and sprinted towards the man, “running to a clear shot position directly into the line of fire while Crooks was firing,” said Higgins.
“He stopped Crooks and importantly, I believe the shot damaged the buffer tube on Crooks’ AR,” Higgins added later, citing eyewitness testimony.
Shooting the buffer tube may have disabled Crooks’ rifle.
The next shot which killed Crooks came from a US Secret Service counter-sniper, according to Higgins.

Cyberattack Hits US Defense Supplier Of Critical Chips, Impacting “Ability To Fulfill Orders”
US chipmaker Microchip Technology disclosed that an “unauthorized party” had compromised “certain servers and some business operations.” This cyberattack raises significant concerns due to Microchip’s critical role in supplying advanced chips to the US defense industry, supporting critical systems such as precision strike and missile defense weapons, radar systems, autonomous platforms, image processing, and command and control centers.
Microchip first detected “potentially suspicious activity involving its information technology (“IT”) systems” on Saturday, the Chandler, Arizona-based company wrote in an SEC filing on Tuesday.
“Upon detecting the issue, the Company began taking steps to assess, contain and remediate the potentially unauthorized activity,” Microchip said.

Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday unveiled the economic policies she would enact in her first 100 days in office — and it comes with a whopping estimated $1.7 trillion in handouts, as well as government price controls on groceries amid ravaging Biden-Harris administration inflation.
Her economic plan includes measures to dole out $25,000 to help first-time homeowners with their down payments and give up to a $6,000 tax breaks for lower and middle-income families who have a child in their first year of life. Harris did not say what incomes qualify as “lower” and “middle.”

Rep. Lance Gooden Demands Answers From Google As Harris Campaign Manipulates Headlines
Google has certainly found itself in hot water again as we approach another presidential election. Earlier this week, it was revealed that the Harris-Walz campaign has been editing headlines from various publications, and then using those edited headlines in paid Google ads. Such a move has not gone unnoticed by House Republicans.
Rep. Lance Gooden (R-TX) penned a letter to Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Alphabet, Google’s parent company.
In his letter, Gooden warns that such findings, as revealed in a recent report from Axios,”signify a deliberate attempt to mislead voters by falsely suggesting endorsement from major news publications.” He went on to point out that such a tactic, “which involves editing headlines within Google ads to imply endorsement, operates within a gray area of Google’s advertising policies but raises profound ethical and legal questions regarding election interference.”
Gooden also points out that “Google’s position that these manipulations do not breach their advertising policies does little to ease concerns about this blatant attempt to deceive voters and interfere in the 2024 Presidential election.”
The letter goes deeper, as it references overall concerning policies involving censorship, such as the July 13 assassination attempt against former and potentially future President Donald Trump, and how other platforms have taken steps to correct issues that Google has not:

“The systematic bias in disseminating information to disproportionately benefit certain political parties or candidates may be violating federal law that ensures equitable treatment of electoral candidates by broadcasting services,” Gooden points out, also mentioning violations under the Federal Election Campaign Act. “Rest assured, all efforts to ensure transparency and accountability at Google ahead of the 2024 election remain on the table,” the congressman warns.

Here come the Democratic National Convention protests
Protest organizers in Chicago expect between 30,000 and 40,000 people to join Monday’s march on the Democratic National Convention, and are asking the city for a permit that would get them closer to the event itself.
“We’re going to march regardless, but we’re fighting for the best route possible,” said Faayani Aboma Mijana, a spokesperson for the March on the DNC coalition. “We’ve got our park permit, but the City has refused to allow us to use port-a-potties, a stage, and a sound system.”
The coalition, composed of more than 150 pro-Palestinian, anti-war, and left-wing organizations, has been planning its direct actions for months. It organized a smaller protest outside last month’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, with fewer than 1,000 people rallying in a park and marching outside the event’s perimeter — a fraction of the number of police who came from out of state to protect the convention, delegates, and guests.
Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling told reporters that officer training “is rooted in the First Amendment and the Fourth Amendment,” per WBEZ, but that the city was “not going to allow you to riot.”
“Protesting and rioting are two different things,” he said. “When people become comfortable committing acts of violence and vandalism, that’s when it turns into a riot.”

A possible October surprise? Biden resigns and Harris becomes president
So imagine it’s a couple weeks after the Democratic National Convention, and the Harris glow is starting to wear off. The vibes campaign could only last so long before reality set in. Trump and Harris are neck-and-neck, and Trump is trending in several key swing states.
“I have no reason to think President Biden will step down, unless he has absolutely no choice,” Mark Halperin, editor-in-chief and host of 2WAY, told me. “He wants to run through the tape. Well, at least, walk purposefully if haltingly through the tape.”
So perhaps Biden is convinced to exit the White House with the promise of a long, ceremonial celebration of his life and career on the way out. He could announce he’s resigning Sept. 1 to bury it before the Labor Day weekend, or on Sept. 13 to bury it after the ABC debate. He could give “two weeks’ notice” and get the long runway of puff pieces and retirement pageantry.
A Biden exit in September or October would be particularly useful as a distraction from the race. The establishment media would get sidetracked with the Biden resignation, as well as the next phase — the introduction of President Kamala Harris. The history associated with the first female president, plus the bevy of stories about what it even means to have this massive transition, would allow for weeks of relatively substance-free coverage.

In a deep dive from the Times’ Maggie Haberman, Jonathan Swan and Charlie Savage, they write that close associates of the former president have been hard at work bolstering their case that the newly elected president can trample civil liberties without regard for the Posse Comitatus Act that “generally makes it a crime to use regular federal troops for domestic policing purposes.”
As they wrote, during his one term, the former president argued on multiple occasions to deploy military personnel to shut down protests and take control of the border. During a second term, he is not expected to have advisors pushing back.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre denied that Vice President Kamala Harris is distancing herself from “Bidenomics” during a tense exchange with Fox News reporter Peter Doocy.
“When did you guys learn that Vice President Harris wants to distance herself from Bidenomics?” Doocy asked Jean-Pierre, to which she responded by asking him why he believed that.
Doocy specifically noted the outlet’s report about Harris avoiding Biden’s “unpopularity” on the economy, adding, “Can you blame her?”
“Do you know this is the Biden-Harris administration?” the press secretary asked. “Are you aware that this is the Biden-Harris administration, and she is indeed the vice president?”
Doocy countered by saying, “But if the president’s policies on the economy were working, or if they were popular, wouldn’t he still be the candidate?”

Trump Vows to Sign Executive Order ‘Directing’ Cabinet Secretaries, Agencies to ‘Use Every Tool’ to ‘Defeat Inflation’
Former President Donald Trump vowed that if elected president, he would “sign an executive order directing” each cabinet secretary and agency head to “use every tool” they had to defeat inflation.
“On my first day back in the Oval Office, I will sign an executive order directing every cabinet secretary and agency head to use every tool and authority at their disposal to defeat inflation and to bring consumer prices rapidly down,” Trump told the crowd from Asheville, North Carolina.
Trump’s comments come as the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced on Wednesday that inflation had risen in July. The consumer price index was reported to have climbed up to 2.9 in July, up from a year ago.
In June, the inflation index rate increased by three percent from a year ago.

Biden ‘not aware’ son sought Obama administration’s help for Burisma: White House
President Joe Biden was not aware of the latest revelations involving his son Hunter Biden, the White House said Wednesday.
“The president has never done business with his son,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. “He was not aware of this. For anything further, I would have to refer you to Hunter Biden’s personal representatives.”
The New York Times reported that Hunter Biden sought assistance from the U.S. government for a profitable energy product in Italy while his father was vice president in the Obama administration. Hunter Biden was a board member of Ukrainian gas company Burisma at the time, according to records the Biden administration had previously withheld for years.
