“The Republican-led committee is planning to hold a meeting to review a contempt report and hold a committee vote on the matter on May 16, according to two sources familiar with the plans.” The Examiner reported.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer last month released a statement after the DOJ rebuffed his committee’s request for the audio recordings.
“The Biden Administration does not get to determine what Congress needs and does not need for its oversight of the executive branch,” Comer said. “The American people deserve to hear the actual audio of President Biden’s answers to Special Counsel Hur.”

DHS Shuts Down Expert Group That Denied Hunter Biden Laptop Story
The Biden administration has agreed to shut down a national security experts’ group as part of settling a lawsuit accusing the group of being politically biased in favor of Democrats.
On Sept. 19, 2023, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group to provide advice on intelligence and national security efforts. In November, America First Legal (AFL) and former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell sued the DHS, the group, and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, arguing that the experts group violated provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA).
Section 5 of FACA requires that an advisory committee be “fairly balanced in terms of the points of view.” It also mandates there be provisions to ensure that “the advice and recommendations of the advisory committee will not be inappropriately influenced by the appointing authority or by any special interest.”
The lawsuit noted that “the Experts Group’s members are political allies of the Biden Administration. Most members have applauded the Administration’s decisions and fervidly condemned former President Trump’s America First approach to foreign policy.”
“They have overwhelmingly donated to President Biden or other Democrats. Defendant Mayorkas selected members that are agreeable, not balanced,” it stated.
Some of the members were also signatories of a letter that dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation.

Report: Firearm-Related Crime Surging in Gun-Controlled Canada
Firearm-related crime is surging in heavily gun-controlled Canada, according to a report from Toronto Star contributor Shaquille Morgan.
Morgan pointed to data from Canadian police, noting “there were 9,198 victims of gun-related crime” in Canada in 2022.
The 2022 figures represented a ten percent jump in the rate of gun-related crime compared to 2021 and a 60 percent jump compared to 2013.
Morgan zeroed in on handguns, explaining that “63 per cent of gun-related homicides were committed with a handgun.”
Canada has stringent gun controls, and Morgan indicated they have gotten even more stringent during the past years. During that time frame “the federal government has expanded background checks, banned 1,500 models of assault weapons, imposed a national handgun freeze and committed $250 million to address the root causes of gun and gang violence.”
Public Safety Canada noted the handgun freeze prohibits “the sale, purchase or transfer of handguns by individuals within Canada, and…bringing newly acquired handguns into Canada.”

MPs will be told today of a massive data breach involving the MoD, targeting service personnel.
The government will not name the country involved, but Sky News understands this to be China.
The Chinese state is to be accused of two or three attempts at hacking MoD employees – including personnel.
The cyberattack was on a payroll system with current service personnel and some veterans. It is largely names and bank details that have been exposed.

An Ole Miss fraternity has decided to boot a student after a video of him viciously mocking a morbidly obese pro-Hamas protester went viral online.
Roughly nine seconds into the video clip, a male can be seen apparently making monkey noises toward Smith while jumping up and down. The young individual was later connected to the fraternity Phi Delta Theta.

MIT Threatens to Place Protesters Involved in Encampment on ‘Interim Academic Suspension’
Pro-Palestinian protesters involved in an encampment at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) were given a deadline of Monday to “leave” the encampment.
The encampment, which was established at MIT on April 21, is one of several pro-Palestinian encampments that remain on university and college campuses around the nation, as several universities have started removing the encampments.

White House Reportedly Rushing To Trump-Proof Biden-Era Regulations Before Possible Election Loss
The White House is reportedly scrambling to make President Joe Biden’s regulatory agenda irreversible in the event that former President Donald Trump wins the 2024 election, according to the Wall Street Journal.
If Trump retakes the White House in the 2024 election, he’s is planning to sign several resolutions under the 1996 Congressional Review Act to reverse scores of Biden-era regulations, people close to the former president told the WSJ. While Trump plots his 2025 agenda, senior Biden officials are reportedly working to ensure that his predecessor is unable to make such adjustments in office.

BREAKING: Hamas Says They’ve Agreed to a Ceasefire as Israel Begins Rafah Operation; Israel Doesn’t Agree
On Monday Israel began its operation to take Rafah as part of its campaign to eliminate Hamas. An evacuation of civilians from the eastern side of the city coincided with targeted strikes, signaling that the long-awaited invasion of the terrorist government’s last stronghold was underway.

That came after a rocket attack killed four IDF soldiers and injured 10 more on Sunday, seeming to provide the final push over the edge for the Israelis.
There’s been a plot twist, though. Hamas announced that they’ve agreed to a “ceasefire.”
And, Israeli officials are calling Hamas’ announcement “a trick,” saying the proposal is one-sided, didn’t receive Israeli approval, and includes terms considered unacceptable.
The context of this appears clear. Hamas didn’t want a deal when it felt like Israel wouldn’t move into Rafah, with the Biden administration helping provide cover for the terrorists by denouncing any invasion of the area. Now that the operation has begun, Hamas wants to call a timeout and buy themselves more time. That’s a sure sign that Yahya Sinwar, the military leader of Hamas in Gaza, feels cornered.

The New York Post has reported that convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s black book is going up for auction, and bidders who participate in the auction are being promised their identities will be held secret.
The book was discovered in the 1990s by a female musician in New York’s East Village, but how it got there remains a mystery.
It’s estimated the black book will rake in over $200,000.
The book contains 349 names in total, 221 of which were never listed in Epstein’s more famous and widely reported “little black book.”

Russian, US Troops Sharing Same Military Base Sparks Escalation Fears
Russian military personnel have moved into a military base in Niger where American troops are stationed, U.S. defense officials said Thursday, sparking fears of escalation as tensions mount between Moscow and Washington amid the war in Ukraine.
“[The situation] is not great but in the short-term manageable,” a senior U.S. defense official told Reuters.
The arrival of Russian troops at Air Base 101 in Niamey, Niger’s capital, follows a demand by the ruling military junta there—which took power in a coup last July—that the U.S. withdraw its nearly 1,000 military personnel from the country.
Newsweek has contacted Russia’s Foreign Ministry and the U.S. Defense Department for comment by email.
The proximity of Russian and U.S. troops comes at a time of heightened tensions between Moscow and Washington over the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which was launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin in February 2022.

New Study Suggests Risk of Getting COVID Rises with Each Shot
A new report suggests that risk of getting COVID rises with each shot an individual takes, according to a new study.
The report comes from an analysis of data from Cleveland Clinic that found people who received two or more doses were at higher risk of COVID-19 based on a comparison was against “people who received zero or one dose of a vaccine.”
The researchers said in the paper, “The exact reason for this finding is not clear. It is possible that this may be related to the fact that vaccine-induced immunity is weaker and less durable than natural immunity. So, although somewhat protective in the short term, vaccination may increase the risk of future infection.”

The risk of contracting COVID-19 was 1.5 times higher for those who received two doses, 1.95 times higher for those who received three doses, and 2.5 times higher for those who received more than three doses, the researchers found. The higher risk was compared to people who received zero or one dose of a vaccine.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the indictment of longtime Democratic Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar and his wife, Imelda.
Cuellar and his wife allegedly accepted $600,000 in bribes from an Azerbaijanian Government-controlled oil and gas company and a bank headquartered in Mexico City, court documents say, according to a DOJ press release. In exchange, Cuellar allegedly obliged to try to shift American foreign policy in Azerbaijan’s favor. Cuellar also allegedly accepted to influence U.S Executive Branch Officials and legislative activity to help benefit the Mexican bank.

Poll: Majority of Americans See TikTok as a Chinese Influence Tool
A majority of Americans see China’s popular TikTok app as a Chinese tool meant to influence and shape U.S. public opinion, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Some 58 percent of respondents agreed with that the Chinese government uses TikTok, which is owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance, to “influence American public opinion,” while 13 percent disagreed, with the rest saying they were unsure or didn’t answer, according to a report by Reuters.
Meanwhile, 46 percent of Americans agreed that China uses TikTok to “spy on everyday Americans.”
The survey also found that Republicans were more likely than Democrats to see China using the app to influence opinions in the United States. Moreover, 50 percent of Americans supported banning TikTok, while 32 percent opposed a ban. The rest were unsure.
A majority of Americans, 60 percent, also said it was inappropriate for U.S. political candidates to use the Chinese app to promote their campaigns.

Election Interference’: Bragg Case Gag Order Puts Unprecedented Limitations On Trump Campaign
Allies close to former President Donald Trump are furious with the gag order imposed on him and his campaign by New York State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan, telling the Daily Caller it is hamstringing his campaign like no other has been before.
Trump and his campaign have been barred from speaking about Matthew Colangelo, a lead prosecutor in the case who spent two years serving in the Biden administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) as acting associate attorney general.
Trump and his campaign are also not allowed to speak about his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, or the jury. Cohen, who is a key witness in the case, has come under fire for discussing the case on TikTok while raising money for himself.
These limitations apply to the entire campaign, tying the hands of the Trump political operation to fight back on a critical issue in the presidential race, one source familiar with the situation told the Caller.
“The gag order says it applies to the president himself, and then it prevents him from instructing or ordering anybody else to do it. So, legally, that basically applies to anybody who works for him. And since he is considered basically the chairman of the campaign or the top dog on the campaign, the campaign applies to everybody who is on campaign staff.”
The source also said they know Democrats are watching Trump’s every move, including his social media posts and campaign website, and described the gag order as “probably the most explicit example of campaign interference, where you’re actually telling your campaign … what they can and can’t say.”
“This unconstitutional and un-American gag order is yet another weapon used by Biden and his henchmen to silence his chief political rival, President Trump. Michael Cohen and others can go make money trashing Trump, yet he can’t respond due to this illegal gag order,” Davis said. “So as a result, all of Trump’s opposition can run roughshod over him without worrying about what Trump will say to counter their arguments. This gag order sets a dangerous precedent moving forward.”

Commission On Presidential Debates Schedules First Trump-Biden Debate For Sept. 16
After rejecting the Trump campaign’s requests to fast forward the general debate, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) announced that it is still sticking to its original plan to air the first broadcast on September 16th, 2024.
The commission said that its September event is the earliest it has ever held a debate in a statement on Wednesday, one day after senior campaign aides to Trump, Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles, released a statement of their own calling for earlier debates.
The previous record was established on September 21st, 1980, during the Ronald Reagan and John Anderson debate era.
Senior Trump advisors reiterated their willingness to collaborate directly with the Biden campaign. Both urged “every television network” to host the debates “with or without the stubborn Presidential Debates Commission.”
However, the commission responded soon after, saying, “as it always does, the CPD considered multiple factors in selecting debate dates in order to make them accessible by the American public,” including religious holidays, federal holidays, early voting, and dates when individual states close ballots.
In response to the Trump advisers’ assertion that “millions of Americans will have already cast their ballots” during the first debate, the commission claimed that it “purposefully chose September 16 after a comprehensive study of early voting rules in every state,” taking into account, among other things, North Carolina’s Sept. 6th start date for mail-in ballots.
Pennsylvania voters can pick up, fill out, and return ballots at their county boards of elections on September 16th, the day of the first debate, according to CPD. Voters in Minnesota, one of the first states to allow in-person early voting, can start casting ballots on Friday, September 20th.

Trump Campaign, RNC File Lawsuit In Battleground State To Stop Counting Ballots Past Election Day
Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) filed a lawsuit on Friday against the Nevada Secretary of State for allowing mail-in ballots to be counted after election day.
Nevada currently permits such ballots to be counted that are received up to four days after the election, according to the text of 2021 state legislation. The Trump campaign and the RNC, along with the Nevada Republican Party, announced its challenge to the ballot counting deadline in a press release, arguing it “undermines the integrity of our elections and unlawfully extends the election past the federal Election Day mandated by Congress.”

Sir, the Posse Comitatus Act says that you can’t deploy the U.S. military against civilians. Would you override that?
Trump: Well, these aren’t civilians. These are people that aren’t legally in our country. This is an invasion of our country. An invasion like probably no country has ever seen before. They’re coming in by the millions. I believe we have 15 million now. And I think you’ll have 20 million by the time this ends. And that’s bigger than almost every state.
We also believe that the Posse Comitatus Act does not conflict with or restrict (the inherent presidential powers to secure the border) and the PCA has, in fact, never barred the use of the military to secure the U.S. border…
But let’s start with the statute. 18 U.S. Code § 1385 – Use of Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Space Force as posse comitatus states:
Whoever, except in cases and under circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army, the Navy, the Marine Corps, the Air Force, or the Space Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.
As can be seen, the PCA has five elements. To violate the PCA, someone must: (1) willfully (2) use the Army, the Navy, the Marine Corps, the Air Force, or the Space Force (3) as a posse comitatus or otherwise (4) to execute the laws (5) in a way that is not expressly authorized by the Constitution or an act of Congress.
if Donald Trump uses the military to execute the law, for him to be violating the law, all five elements must be proven for him to be tossed in jail (which I am sure TIME Magazine will be pushing for). He must have done so willfully, which is not always easy to show. He also must be using the military as a “posse comitatus or otherwise.” Now, we know what “posse comitatus” means – a “posse” is what the sheriff rounds up to catch the criminal – and the “comitatus” simply means that the sheriff had the right to call for assistance from all men in the county over 15 years old, including all military forces. The “otherwise” portion of this element is not easy to define – it may “suggest a desire by Congress to seal off attempts at circumvention via the expedient of simply using the military to enforce the law without formally labeling such a use the mustering of the posse comitatus.” And finally, neither exception in the PCA must be available for Trump; and, without a doubt, one clearly is – the Constitution clearly expressly authorizes the president to secure the border (see above).

Second Whistleblower Linked to Boeing Dies of “Sudden Illness”

This marks the third consecutive month that immigration has been named the top issue among Americans — the first time this has happened in 24 years.
While nearly 50 percent of Republicans and 25 percent of swing voters name immigration as their top concern, only eight percent of Democrats say the same.

White House pivots from campus protest backlash to tout billions in student loan cancellations
The White House took a series of questions about pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses, reiterating that President Joe Biden opposes antisemitism while touting the things he’s done for young people.
Several reporters tried to pin down the administration’s position on whether or not it supports the protesters or is sympathetic to their cause.
“I understand that President Biden, historically, has spoken very forcefully about antisemitism,” Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy said. “But this week, he’s not. He’s MIA. Is he that worried about losing the youth vote with these protesters?”

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is mounting a new defense of the Federal Reserve’s separation from politics as former President Donald Trump’s allies float plans to chip away at the central bank’s independence if he returns to the White House.

North Korea Installs Fresh Landmines in DMZ
Officials with the South Korean military confirmed on Monday that communist North Korea had littered roads between North and South Korea with landmines and begun taking down streetlights installed on them.
Officials with the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the military leadership in Seoul, told reporters that they had detected North Korean soldiers installing landmines on inter-Korean roads in late 2023. The roads are within the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the buffer region between the two Koreas created by the armistice that halted Korean War hostilities in 1953. As neither side has signed a peace agreement nor surrendered, the Korean War technically remains in vigor.

New research reveals Qataris funneling billions of dollars into Cornell University in unreported funds. The findings show that Qatar has donated $1.95 billion directly to Cornell University for its campus at Doha’s Education City and $7.9 billion to Sidra Hospital in Doha, which is operated by Cornell. According to the Financial Times, since 1986, Qatar has contributed $5.1 billion to American universities. It is clear that Qatar, a radical Islamist state, which President Biden has embraced, has been a major (biased) mediator in the efforts to release the Israeli hostages from Hamas’s captivity.
Under U.S. law American universities must disclose foreign donations of $250,000 or more, but universities have ignored this ruling with little or no consequences.

US Government Plans to Borrow More This Quarter Amid Disappointing Tax Receipts
The U.S. government plans to borrow more cash from private investors this quarter than initially forecast amid less-than-expected tax receipts, the Treasury Department said on Monday.
According to the department’s latest Treasury Refunding Announcement, Washington anticipates borrowing $243 billion in the April-June period. This is $41 billion higher than officials projected at the beginning of the year and much greater than market forecasts.
Treasury officials stated that the federal government’s tax receipts have fallen short of forecasts so far this fiscal year. The Treasury does not share its forecasts for tax revenues with the public.
For the January-March quarter, the Treasury borrowed $748 billion in private marketable debt, slightly under the first estimate of $760 billion. This was mainly due to lower federal outlays.

Ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) nations have agreed to eliminate all coal-fired power plants by 2035.
The countries that are members of the Group of Seven (G7) are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the European Union.
This declaration was made by Andrew Bowie, a UK minister at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, during an interview in Turing, Italy.
“We do have an agreement to phase out coal in the first half of the 2030s,” Bowie said.

“The People’s Republic of China is moving at breathtaking speed in space, and they are rapidly developing a range of counter-space weapons to hold at risk our space capabilities,” he added.
“They’re also using space to make their terrestrial forces—their army, their navy, their marine corps, their air force—more precise, more lethal, and more far-ranging.”
One particular concern was the number of Chinese satellites in orbit, Gen. Whiting said.
“Over the last six years, they have tripled the number of intelligent surveillance and reconnaissance satellites on orbit, and they have used their space capabilities to improve the lethality, the precision, and the range of their terrestrial forces,” he said.“And so that obviously is a cause for concern and something that we are watching a very, very closely.”

Former President Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis met privately in Miami on Sunday, multiple Republicans with knowledge of the meeting confirmed to Fox News.
During the several-hour meeting, DeSantis agreed to help Trump as the GOP’s presumptive presidential nominee tries to close his fundraising gap with President Biden in their 2024 election rematch, the sources confirmed.
