Benn Jordan says capitalism is dead — that trillion-dollar companies are turning you into a "digital sharecropper" who'll own nothing while they own everything. I say he's dressed up Karl Marx's 175-year-old exploitation myth in crypto-era buzzwords and a slicker font. Who's right?

Benn Jordan's viral video "The Richest Country Is Pretty Mid Now" has millions of views and a term he invented to describe it: Leveragism — the idea that capitalism has quietly mutated into a rent-extraction machine where the rich don't need to grow the pie anymore, they just need to squeeze you harder. Gold traps. Bond traps. 401(k) siphoning. "Shadow work." Digital feudalism.

It's a compelling story. It's also wrong — and dangerously wrong, because it takes every real symptom of the mixed economy (a Federal Reserve that inflates the currency, a government that bails out the reckless, a tax code riddled with cronyism) and blames it on the one thing that's actually been fighting those symptoms for 300 years: free trade between consenting adults.

In this episode I go point by point through Jordan's argument — inflation as theft, the "rug pull" economy, Spotify and AI as new-age plantation owners, the claim that capitalism requires exploitation to survive — and show where the mechanism actually breaks down. Then I take your questions live.
