Since the holiday season for us with Asian heritage continues until the Lunar New Year season, we count ourselves as the lucky ones that we get to celebrate so much for so long!

This year, we continue our holiday conversations - this time, about new year, new beginnings, and new year traditions. 今年，我們繼續我們的節日對話: 這一次，關於新年、新的開始和新年傳統。
In particular, we mentioned a very sweet tradition she shares with her friends - and parents. 我們特別提到了她與朋友和父母分享的一個非常甜蜜的傳統。
Today, we continue talking about a tradition she shares with her parents --- as a way to recap the best moments of the year, and a push for happiness. 今天，我們繼續談論她與她父母分享的傳統——以回顧一年中最美好幸福的時刻。

A Very Special New Year Tradition:
I think it’s really important to tell people if you love them that you love them. The best way to tell them is on new year’s, because you start a new chapter, and you ended one, so you want to appreciate them and so I always give my friends letters and tell them all the things I adore about them, all the hard things we’ve been through, on new years and that they should keep going and I love that, because my friends, we always keep the letters, and when we need some motivation, we re-read them, and we’ve done it for like years. My best friend and I we’ve been friends since we were one and a half, so we’ve been doing that since we were ten, and I do that with my new friends, it’s really emotional because it’s a recap of what had happened, and a year is a long time, it’s 365 days, that’s a lot of hours, it’s being grateful for friends, I love that.
Letters like these express full appreciation because not enough people do that and it’s so sad, and for them to say something from the heart and the level of depth is so nice. And I think I will do it my whole life. I’ve been doing it with my parents, we write down each thing that is important on a sticky note and put it in a glass, and at the end of the year, we pick it out and talk about how beautiful it is. You forget the little things that happen, and when you’re so much in the moment, you forget the feeling of happiness doesn't last forever, so we always put a date on it, it’s a push for happiness. Because you know, the harder things keep us down and the harder things somehow stick with us longer. And my best friend always picks out the best moments and she makes a book. You forget how happiness doesn’t last forever, but you’ll remember the feelings of happiness.
