【學習筆記】
Today, we look at scene 10, which is a flashback to Henry's childhood, where Henry was still a little boy, and his mom was looking through his closet, seeing some clothes that are dated.
Dated: in this context, it means old, out of date. 在這種情況下，它的意思是舊的、過時的。

Outgrew: 超出

Scene 18, at a shopping center
It's obviously a holiday weekend, festive supplies are in evidence. Families are stocking up for BBQs and get-togethers. 顯然是假期，節日隨處可見。

So, Henry's secret that he let us in on, has nothing to do with gadgets, but how the dough is handled. Henry 亨利告訴我們他烤派的秘密與小玩意無關，而是與麵團的處理方式有關。
From flour (麵粉) to dough (麵團), to crust (皮), to batter (麵糊), to wrapper (皮), there are many terms to describe what becomes of flour and water:
Crust: 脆皮

Dough: sounds like [DOH] Dough 這個字一般常見的意思為「麵糰」，但它另有「錢」之意，片語 be rolling in dough 就是在形容一個人「非常富有」。

Wrapper: sounds like [RAPPER] 皮，如餃子皮
Batter: sounds like [Bah-der] 蛋糕糊, 麵糊
But did you know, that dough in slang, means $??

To earn one's living, was to earn one's bread, so similarly, breadwinner describes someone who makes money.
breadwinner 描述的是賺錢的人。And what is bread made of? Dough!

bread 是用dough 做成的，因此dough 也被拿來當成錢的意思，所以dough 或bread 都可用來表示錢。

Mooncakes are pastries timed to the Mid-Autumn Festival, a holiday that celebrates the commencement of the harvest season. Traditionally, they showcased the best ingredients of a region, like sweet lotus seed paste in Guangdong, China, melon seeds in Hainan or pork in Yunnan, but you can stuff mooncakes with whatever you’d like, as long as the fillings are encased in dough and the exterior is aesthetically pleasing. In her forthcoming cookbook, “Mooncakes and Milkbread,” the Chinese-American baker Kristina Cho has channeled that spirit by stuffing her mooncakes with blitzed pistachios and honey, a combination commonly found in baklava. The blend is enveloped in a classic Cantonese crust that uses lye water to bump up the pH of the dough, giving it a gentle amber hue,
and golden syrup, which lends the cake a chewy, soft bite. —Clarissa Wei

Today, we go through a scene between Leo and Jacky, where Leo says to Jacky, "I've looked into it". 今天，我們回顧 Leo 和 Jacky 之間的場景，Leo 對 Jacky 說：「我已經調查過了」。

I've looked into it = I did my research, I checked on it.

To look into it = to understand something better, 更好地理解某事。

【學習筆記】
In our last session, we talked about the scene where Ruby meets her parents in the car, when they were blasting music. We mentioned that:
Blasting (很吵) = playing (music) at a very high volume.

If music is blasting, perhaps you would want to ask that they "turn it down". 如果音樂很吵，也許你會想要求他們「把它關小」。It is NOT "can you be quiet"
In our every day life, this could come in handy, because if the music/volume is too loud, then there are several ways to ask for the sound to be lower, but we never use the word, "small". 如果音樂太大聲，有幾種方法可以要求聲音小一些, 但我們從來不使用“小 small”這個詞。
【關鍵字】
Turn it down

Make it softer

Turn the volume lower
相反，如果音樂/聲音太小，我們會要求增加音量/聲音。Conversely, if the music/sound is too soft, we would ask to increase the volume/sound:
to make it louder,

to turn it up,

不是 NOT "higher" the volume, or "bigger".
To turn it up = 調高音量 = to increase the volume, to make it louder. 增加音量，使聲音更大。
【Attention 注意】
Everything but 不是“但是”!

Everything but = everything except for = 它的意思是"除了"

i.e. Every day but Sunday = all the days except for Sunday

i.e. Everything but onions = all the toppings except for onions
