我的名字叫奥古斯丁,爸妈是以著名画家皮埃尔-奥古斯丁·雷诺阿为我命名的。
我原本住在南极,但很快我们要搬到遥远的北极,因为爸爸要去那里上班。
在搬家前,我整理了自己的房间,妈妈说我的房间就像冰山的一角。我把所有的玩具装进箱子,在每个箱子上画上紫色的星星。搬家真是一件大工程。
我会想念我的房间、老师、朋友、表亲、叔叔阿姨,但我最舍不得的是爷爷奶奶。我们提着行李赶往机场,临别时我感到非常伤感。
这是我第一次坐飞机。我和爸爸妈妈一起飞往北极。我玩“金鱼”游戏、看电影、吃飞机餐。窗外是白茫茫的云海,爸爸睡着了。我在去洗手间的路上,还看到一位乘客像“头在云里”。
终于,我们抵达了北极。我问爸爸他的办公室在哪栋楼,又问妈妈为什么没看到企鹅。她说:明天是大日子,今天要好好休息。
去酒店的路上我一句话也没说,窗外的雪让我想起爸爸。
新家,新学校第二天我们搬进了新家。我们看了八个地方,才找到这个像城堡一样的房子。妈妈喜欢冰柱吊灯,爸爸喜欢坚硬的冰地板,我最喜欢的是塔楼里的房间。它很酷,但晚上我却怎么也睡不着。
我因为要去新学校而发冷,不是天气冷,而是心里紧张。我不认识北极的任何人,真希望能回到南极和朋友们在一起。
早上我躲起来了,但妈妈很快找到了我。我画了一张自己的画像,告诉爸爸我“脚冷”不能去上学。妈妈笑着把拖鞋递给我,说:“试试看吧。”
爸爸送我去学校并祝我好运。我也觉得,我确实需要一点运气。
第一天上学我一走进教室,所有同学都盯着我看,小声议论。我的新老师莉萨小姐笑容很甜,她向全班介绍我,但我一句话也说不出来——我的口音不一样,我太害羞了。
课间时,同学们开心地玩球、又笑又叫,我一个人坐在操场角落,陪着我的是我的画笔和我的朋友——皮卡索。
我画了一些画,告诉自己:这就是我在北极的第一天。突然,我周围出现了一圈小脚丫,我抬头一看,是全班同学笑着围着我。他们看了我的飞机画,我也开始讲我从南极来的故事。
打开心扉,绽放色彩在教室里,我终于能自由地表达情绪,和新朋友们玩得很开心。我们互相了解、分享故事,我觉得自己交到了真正的朋友。
老师鼓励我们自由创作,并告诉我们下周要举办一场属于自己的画展。我激动不已。
放学回家后,我把学校的一切都讲给爸爸妈妈听。爸爸说我用画“打破了冰层”,妈妈说她为我感到骄傲。
他们还告诉我,画展当天会有特别的客人来——是爷爷奶奶!
画展开幕!画展开得非常成功!我的新朋友、新老师、爸爸妈妈,还有爷爷奶奶都来了。他们说:北极唤醒了我真正的色彩。

I live at the South Pole, but soon, we’ll be moving far away—my new home will be at the North Pole because my dad has a new job there.
In my bedroom, I gather all my toys. Mom says it’s just the tip of the iceberg. We pack the closets, fill our suitcases, and I draw purple stars on all my boxes. Moving is a lot of work.
I’m going to miss my room. I carry my suitcase to the airport. When it’s time to say goodbye, I feel sad. I’ll miss my friends, my teacher, my cousins, my aunts and uncles—but most of all, I’ll miss my grandma and grandpa.
My First FlightThis is my first ride on an airplane. I play Go Fish, watch a movie, and eat from a tray. I look out the window while Dad takes a nap. On my way to the washroom, I see a passenger with his head in the clouds.
After a long trip, we finally arrive at the North Pole. I ask Dad which building his office is in. I ask Mom why there aren’t many penguins here. She says I need rest—tomorrow will be a big day.
On the way to the hotel, I’m very quiet. The snow reminds me of Dad.
A New HomeToday, we move into our new home. We visited eight places before finding the perfect one. It looks just like a castle.
Mom loves the icicle chandelier. Dad loves the hard ice floor. I love my room at the top of the tower. It’s cool—but at night, I can’t fall asleep.
I get chills just thinking about my new school. Tomorrow is my first day. I don’t know anyone at the North Pole. I wish I could turn back time and be in the South Pole with my friends.
Cold FeetThe next morning, I hide. But Mom finds me. I draw a picture of myself and show it to Dad. I tell him I have cold feet and can’t go to school. Mom says I should give it a try and hands me my slippers.
Dad walks me to school and wishes me good luck. I think I’ll need it.
A Shy StartWhen I walk into the classroom, the kids stare and whisper. Miss Lisa, my new teacher, has a pretty smile. She introduces me to the class, but I freeze. My accent is different. I’m too shy to say a word.
At recess, the kids are having fun—laughing, shouting, playing ball. I sit by myself in the corner of the playground. I’m glad I brought Picasso, my stuffed animal, to keep me company. I draw pictures with my blue colored pencil.
I call this: My First Day at School.
Breaking the IceA little while later, I notice it’s very quiet. I look up and see feet all around me. Smiling faces. The kids from my class. I show them my airplane drawing and tell them all about my trip from the South Pole.
Back in the classroom, I have more free time to draw. I feel happy expressing my emotions. My classmates become my friends.
I love talking with them. I feel proud of myself. I think I’m a good friend. I love my classmates. I love my parents. I even show my new friends my airplane drawing again.
