In Episode 5, I am talking with an assisted living consultant for Senior Care Authority, DON MINTER. Don and his wife Elaine are advocates for our senior community here in Kansas and are advisors for Johnson, Douglas, Shawnee, Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Miami and Franklin counties. We will start off our conversation with Don’s story of caring for his own father who lived with Alzheimer’s and how this led to a path of senior advocacy. Don also offers useful information about the levels of care in what he calls “senior communities” and shares what he can offer families through his work as a consultant.

Episode 4: In this episode I am talking with Kathleen Kastner about her time as a yoga studio owner (16 years in Kansas City, MO), her transition to a vegan lifestyle in 2002, and how this led to her passionate advocacy for animals and her work with The Humane Society of the United States. Kathleen now lives in Encinitas, CA and leads international retreats with her husband, Wade Mortenson. Megan joined SRC as the Executive Director in January 2019 and comes with over 20 years of nonprofit experience, specifically working with seniors in Douglas County as the Executive Director of Trinity In-Home Care for six years and Director of Development for the Friends of the Lied Center of Kansas.
