As teachers it can be overwhelming to know what to focus on. There are so many amazing aspects to yoga from the anatomy to philosophy to cueing that it can be easy to want to include it ALL in every class. Unfortunately, if you try to say everything in a class, you end up saying nothing. And if you never know what to focus on when teaching your classes and your own energy will become scattered, unfocused and you'll eventually get burned out and discouraged from teaching. You might even just decide to quit teaching all together.
So what do you focus on instead? It's simpler and more obvious than you might think, but I've been to plenty of classes where the teacher forgets to do this, and you may have too. It's an easy mistake to make, but it's also a simple mistake to avoid. I'll share how in today's episode!

Walk away knowing exactly what to focus on, what to avoid and when to plan your most important dates for health, wealth, relationships and living your life purpose. My goal is to help you make 2022 not just better than last year, but one of the best years of your life!
In this special episode I share some fascinating stats on goal setting / new years resolutions and why 9 out of 10 people fail their resolutions. I'll share about the major transits and patterns of history we can see playing out with astrology and how 2022 can be not just better than last year, but one of your best years yet.
The most obvious cycle we can learn from is the 2020 transit of Saturn. The Covid-19 pandemic completely changed the world but while everyone was wondering when it would end, Vedic Astrologers knew the global pandemic would not be a 2 week event, but the beginning of a rare, difficult 2.5 year Saturn transit representing delays, setbacks, restrictions and specifically illness for elder men of color, the population most vulnerable to the disease. If you go back in history you will find that the Black Plague was attributed to a rare conjunction of Mars, Saturn and Jupiter in Capricorn that happens roughly every 700 years - the same one that happened in March 2020. Not only that, but it coincided with Rahu in Ardra, something that happens every 18 years and marked the events of 9/11, the AIDs outbreak and other globally tragic events. What life changing events could astrology help us plan for going forward?

One year ago Shannon joined the Quietmind Yoga Teacher Training with no teacher training background and within weeks was teaching great classes that her classmates loved in the QYTT practice teaching sessions. After training I was looking for a new teacher to join as a teacher for the Quietmind Yoga Membership and knew Shannon would be perfect and was ready to teach. Since then she has taught dozens of amazing classes and built up an awesome library of classes in all styles with a wide range of themes from anatomy to chakras to mudras, all with skills she learned in her QYTT. She shares lots of great insights for you if you're thinking about taking the QYTT, super grateful for Shannon's insights and perspectives here!

The most life-changing thing I’ve done was take a Yoga Teacher Training.
I didn't take it to become a teacher, though. I took a Yoga Teacher Training to learn more about my self, my health and improve my yoga and meditation practice.
It did all of that and so much more than I could have imagined.
In today’s episode I share my story of how I became a teacher from childhood, to my first YTT to today.
If you have been wanting to expand your practice and considering becoming a teacher by taking a YTT there are now more options than ever before to become a certified teacher, but not all trainings are the same.
Since starting the Yoga Teacher Training podcast in 2019 I have heard from people all over the world who have had a disappointing and discouraging experience in their YTT, so I created this workshop to save you years of confusion and frustration. To help you know exactly what to look for and what to focus on for your own practice, your health and, if you desire, creating a career doing work you love, teaching yoga.
It's called "The 60 Minute YTT: 10 Keys to Confidence, Clarity and Creating A Career Doing Work You Love Teaching Yoga"
