  • 77. What it looks like to be a Badass Black Woman in America (part 2)

For this series, we are taking a very serious look at journeys that are different than our own.

For each of these stories, we challenge you to be open minded and willing to learn. You don't have to understand someone else's story. But it doesn't make it any less of a powerful story for them.

This week we talk with with one of Jessika's best friends, Rachel.

Rachel is an inspiring, beautiful soul. And that's all that should matter. Yet Rachel has discovered that sometimes that's not all that people take into consideration. Rachel is black & tells her story of how that has impacted the way people look at her.

In this encouraging conversation, Rachel sheds light on how she dusts off people's opinions and tackles everything in front of her knowing her gender and race don't have anything to do with her strength!

We really enjoyed this conversation. We invite you to learn and listen, and hope you enjoy it too!

  • 75. What was it like growing up gay in the 90s? (part 2)

For this series, we are taking a very serious look at journeys that are different than our own.

For each of these stories, we challenge you to be open minded and willing to learn. You don't have to understand someone else's story. But it doesn't make it any less of a powerful story for them.

This conversation is with one of Ciara's best friends, Heather.

Heather knew she was different from a very young age, but didn't know why. And she very clearly remembers the moment it all made sense. Even though she finally understood that she was gay, her parents never did.

Her coming out story is riddled with heartache, yet her journey to overcoming that traumatic part of her life is beautiful.

We really enjoyed this conversation. We invite you to learn and listen, and hope you enjoy it too!

  • 73. What is it like to be Biracial? (part 2)

This month we are taking a very serious look at journeys that are different than our own.

For each of these stories, we challenge you to be open minded and willing to learn. You don't have to understand someone else's story. But it doesn't make it any less of a powerful story for them.

This conversation is with our friend Leah.

Leah is a happily married mom of 5, raising her babies in suburbia outside of Los Angeles. While her family is picture perfect, and she is living the American dream, Leah has to have conversations with her babies that many of us never even have to think about.

Leah is biracial, and everything from the way her daughters view their hair to the heavy explanations she'll have to give her sons on how careful they need to be around cops, the fact is, the color of skin still defines a different path for people in similar situations.

We really enjoyed this conversation. We invite you to learn and listen, and hope you enjoy it too!
