    Release date: 05-23-11

    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
Delivers a concise overview of Gods plan for the world by outlining its presence in Scripture.
From eternity past God has had a perfect plan for the world. The Fall and entrance of sin into the world did not surprise him, nor did it detract from his plan. All things have been sovereignly worked to this end. What exactly is this plan, and where do we learn about it?
In this new booklet from the Gospel Coalition, Colin Smith demonstrates that Gods plan is shown in the Bible and centers around his promise to bring sinners to eternal life, through Christ, for his glory. The Old Testament tells the story of the making of the promise, which is fulfilled in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Gods people, the church, spread the good news of this promise to the world, and the Holy Spirit is given to believers as the seal of the promise.
The Plan offers a thoughtful explanation for point 5 of the Gospel Coalitions confessional statement. The Gospel Coalition is an evangelical renewal movement dedicated to a scripture-based reformation of ministry practices.

    AWESOME LAYOUT!
This 32 page pamphlet is the most profound consolidation of Scriptural happenings that explain the whole of the message concerning God in such a small reading. The author builds a great foundation of why God and man needed to become as one in the flesh. It Starts off with how the Old Testament lays out the promises of God to His creation and then moves into how the New Testament tells the story of how His incarnation into the flesh of His own creation as the Christ, fulfills those promises. He then moves onward to show how that God has intended to use the church, His chosen people by grace, to communicate the message of His promises to others; and finally He shows how the Holy Spirit enters into the plan to deliver and confirm the promises of God to His creation. This is a "must have" booklet to keep around to help bring a brief, but complete picture, of what the Bible portrays to those who have a desire to really know what it is all about.

What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, Jesus said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily. But who do you know who lives like that? Do you?

It's hard to look at the headlines, see the continuing turmoil in the Middle East and the decline of society here in the United States, and not think that we are living in the end times.
The prophetic stories of the Bible seem to be happening right in front of our eyes today as we see what is happening around the world. Scripture tells us that we do not know the day nor the hour when Christ will return, but that we should recognize the signs of His imminent return and be prepared.
You'll get keen insight into what the Bible has to say about the last days from some of the top Bible prophecy scholars in America, including Tim LaHaye, Joel Rosenberg, and Lt. Gen. William Boykin (ret.). You'll also learn how we as Christians should approach these final days before the return of Jesus Christ.
This conference is not just for scholars, but for everyone who sees what is happening in the world today and wants to know more about what is in store as Christ's return draws near.

  • Following Jesus, the Servant King Audiobook by Jonathan Lunde

Title: Following Jesus, the Servant King
Subtitle: A Biblical Theology of Covenantal Discipleship
    Author: Jonathan Lunde
    Narrator: Tom Casaletto
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 13 hrs and 39 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-07-10
    Publisher: Zondervan
Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 5 votes
    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
'This book presents a biblical theology of discipleship that gives the 'big picture' of God's relationship with humanity. It surveys God's interaction with humankind from Eden, through the sequence of the biblical covenants, and on into the fulfillment that comes in Jesus.
Throughout, the twin themes emerge - one of God's demand of righteousness and another of his prior, enabling grace. Discipleship to Jesus stands in relation to its Old Testament precedents, preserving continuity in the grace/demand interplay. Jesus' ministry to Israel is the fulfillment of the interactions between God and his people, assuming the roles of righteous King and gracious Servant. Faithful discipleship to Jesus the King, therefore, must always involve responding to his bracing call for righteousness, but doing so in the ongoing experience of the Servant's prior, enabling grace.
This book provides an understanding of Jesus that will facilitate ongoing experiences of transforming grace, which in turn will enable faithful discipleship. As such, it presents a view of Christian discipleship that is grounded in an informed Christology of Jesus, the Servant King.'

    Great book.
Covenant obedience yes, but covenant discipleship?
Jonathan Lunde has offered an articulate and creative exposition of covenantal theology. In particular, his explanation of the relationship between various covenants and the New Covenant is very helpful, and I can see myself using his analogies of filter, lens and prism in my own teaching.
However, the central thesis of this book, that discipleship should be identified with the `righteous demands' of the New Covenant, requires closer examination. Whilst Lunde spends the bulk of his book working out the implications of this assertion, he devotes little or no time to defending it in the first place. On what basis should we choose covenant as the category in which to define discipleship? Why privilege it over, say, kingdom obedience (though the two are not unrelated), love (John 13:35), or the obedience of a student to his teacher (Luke 6:40)?
On this last, Lunde somewhat disarmingly asserts that `This book is not a detailed examination of the historical background of the term "disciple" (math't's) or of the nature of the relationship between Jewish rabbis and their students in first-century Palestine,' admitting that `this approach to discipleship is somewhat unexpected' (32). However, this omission represents a weakness in Lunde's overall position, since by it he effectively broadens the scope of biblical discipleship to be coextensive with anything one does as a Christian. Similarly, he effectively defines the `righteous demands' of a covenant as anything done by the lesser party of the covenant that is not part of the `condition' of a conditional covenant. In this way he is able to equate the two disparate concepts. One wonders why, if covenant is so important in understanding discipleship the New Testament writers rarely (if ever) refer to it?
Another methodological weakness in Lunde's argument is that it is largely founded on characteristics of individual covenants assumed also to be characteristic of the New Covenant.

    Excellent Read and Study
I really enjoyed the reading of this book. it analyzes our fear of sharing the Gospel in a unique way.
Needs to be preached in every church in the world!
What made the experience of listening to The Unchurched Next Door the most enjoyable?
The many stories and responses of the responders was fascinating, and the revelation that both the statistics and the stories brought into light was amazing! That is: People are more ready than we think they are! We just have to match the Faith stage to the invitation method.Very, very informative stuff, and I am now listening to it again and using it as fuel for my preaching.
I would love to see Thom S Rainer write another book outlining his survey forms, and instructing local churches how to utilise both the surveying process and the survey results in our own area. I am in semi-rural Australia, and would like to graph my own town/city.
Seriously! I cannot see why this has only scored a 4 star rating so far - this book is transformational, my congregation are sitting there wide-eyed!

    Publisher: Zondervan

    Genres: Religion & Spirituality, Christianity
    Publisher's Summary:
The God who created a good and perfect world, but whose world turned from him, has brought restoration through gift: The Father loved the world and gave the Son, and the Father and the Son pour out the gift of the Spirit into the hearts of humanity bringing about praise, hope, and new creation. Those who are united to the Son by his Spirit then find they have received the glorious gift of God's coming Kingdom. In other words, the Gospel is shaped by giving: God's generosity buys us out of bondage and brings us into all the blessings of belonging. But the good news is not only that God has made us to be recipients of his grace but also participants in the movement of his divine justice and generosity. Living in God's gifts, Christians discover they are free to give themselves. The cross and resurrection of Christ come to shape and define this new life of faith, hope and generosity - a life that is best lived not in isolation but as a community. Throughout the book special attention is given to the relationship between divine generosity and concern for the poor and oppressed. Kapic and Borger encourage readers to not simply discover the immensity of God's grace, but to enter into the flow of divine generosity as God has invited them to become avenues of his great gifts to the world.

    Throughly researched and profoundly moving
This book is both throughly researched and profoundly moving. This author has put a great deal of thought and study into the subject, and that shows through on every page. At the same time, the beautiful picture painted in these pages of God's lavish generosity drew me to my knees in both praise of God for his love, and prayer that this generosity would become the heartbeat of my life.
    Hurrah for Dr. Kapic
It was very thought provoking and deeply spiritual. Once I began the book I read a chapter a day and enjoyed taking the concepts to my Bible study group.
    Divine Generosity Empowers Christian Generosity
Kelly M. Kapic, along with his former student Justin Borger, have created a masterpiece that demonstrates that God has endeavored to take back a world that belongs to Him but has been stolen away from Him by human sin by giving the ultimate gift to the world--His Son and His Spirit. Because of God's inexpressible gift, God has created a people who are now characterized by giving to the world instead of taking, using their time, talents, and treasure to flood the world with God's goodness. Using the insights he has gleaned from a lifetime of studying John Owen's theology on communion with the Triune God, Kapic demonstrates how all three members of the Trinity contribute to our entering into the movement of divine generosity. He shows how Christ's resurrection provides the necessary impetus for us to live self-sacrificial lives, shows Christians how we must give up both our rights and our possessions to be Christ's disciples, and how we need to live lives of generosity in the context of community. In particular, the gift of the Holy Spirit empowers us to live as generous new creations in Christ. This book will convict you, convince you, and empower you to do more and better works for the Lord and for your neighbor!
Read this work attentively and prayerfully

See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it. -Revelation 3:8...
Imagine a place where becoming a Christian is a punishable crime - and your own family exacts the punishment. Where those who spread the Gospel among locals are deported if discovered. Where converts to Christianity face persecution, isolation, or even death as the price for their faith. Reema Goode and her family are Christians working in a closed Middle Eastern country where all of these things are true. Yet they are also firsthand witnesses of a whole new trend that is taking shape in missions to Muslims. Despite all obstacles, God is opening miraculous doors in the Islamic world, where an unprecedented number of Muslims are becoming followers of Jesus.
In this powerful collection of personal stories, Reema takes us deep inside her Arab neighborhood to show how God is opening doors in just one of many Islamic communities. As she walks us through everyday life in a Muslim town, she reveals the diverse, creative, unexpected, and thrilling ways God is reaching her neighbors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This encouraging, uplifting, and even humorous firsthand account of a Christian family living among Muslims will inspire you in your own walk of faith, teach you how to pray for Muslims and those who minister to them, and encourage you with the knowledge that Gods loving Light is penetrating the darkness.

Great book...wish it was read by a lady.
The author was a woman, so I feel the story would have benefited by a woman narrator. The story is interesting and inspiring! Don't miss it!
    Inspirational
Story was well told in a compelling way. It is inspiring to hear of people coming to faith on Christ when it costs them dearly to do so.
    Riveting Story
    Any additional comments?
My family and I enjoyed listening to this true account of some of God's work in the Muslim world, but it was a bit odd to listen to a man narrate the story told from a woman's point of view. The audio version would have been better if read by a woman.
    Great read, okay listen
I enjoyed it, but I wish it had been a bit longer. also, as the book was written by a woman, I found it distracting to have a male reader. normally it would not be a big deal, but given that the author is a woman, was talking about her interactions mostly with women, and it was written in her own words, I believe it would have been a better choice to have a female narrator.
    Great book
This was a wonderful and very encouraging book. The stories were spiritually amazing to me. God is working mightily with the Muslim people. It is a bit disconcerting to have a male narrate this book. I had to keep reminding myself that the book was written by a female.

Covers a variety of topics and goes in deep. There is something for everyone in this book. I really think this would help many of the people in the world who have problems. A great deal for one credit. I only wish we could download this on MP3 and play in my car, the 8 CD download is somewhat cumbersome to take with me. Maybe I just need to get an iPod. I did not find the CD boring, I found it to be really excellent and the content is what you should be focused on.
