Young and the Restless sees Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) is blissfully unaware of the disaster that could shatter her impending nuptials with Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins). Traci is overjoyed about her engagement to Alan, but the grim reality is that the man she is engaged to might actually be Martin, Alan's sociopathic twin brother. Last year, Traci met Alan, who was a psychiatrist and a friend of her sister Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). The plot took a shocking turn when Alan's evil twin brother Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) started impersonating him, leading to a major scuffle in Paris that supposedly culminated in Martin's death. However, recent events suggest that it might be Alan who died, and Martin who is posing as Alan on the CBS soap opera.
Young and Restless sees that Traci believes she is engaged to Alan, but the evidence points towards Martin being the one who proposed. Fans were left aghast when Martin was seen spying on Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) via an app on his phone. The sinister nature of his actions suggests that Traci might have unknowingly been dating Martin all along, and that he has been manipulating her since their time in Paris. The suspicions about Martin's impersonation of Alan are further strengthened when he starts neglecting his professional obligations. As a psychiatrist, Martin would not be able to convincingly carry out Alan's responsibilities, adding more credence to the theory.
