Over the last few weeks, we’ve talked about identity crises and exit strategies — and I’ve been doing the work myself. When I look at where I stand now, and where I want to go, the decision becomes clear: It’s time to retire the Your Badass Journey podcast and allow the space to launch something new.
It is possible to have a graceful exit that makes sure you are still taking care of your clients, your community, and yourself in the process. For me, that means taking a pause so that I can intentionally reintroduce the next level of myself, and creating an arena for all of us to come together in a new way. The most graceful way for me to exit is to close out this show with gratitude and a desire for more.

I’ve been talking recently about the identity crisis that happens when you begin to uplevel your life. One of the things that helps me align with my actions is thinking about how I’m going to gracefully exit before I start something new. It might sound backward at first, but knowing that I have a plan for how to get out of a situation, if and when I have to, makes me feel safer and more confident in the moment.
We feel like we have to carry forward everything we have become, but if we do that without considering how to integrate it into what we want next, we get bogged down and stretched thin. It’s important to be clear about who you need to be and what role you need to play to launch into your next project, and that we don’t make any concessions on that evolution. Being set on your exit strategies helps you appreciate the moment for what it is, infinitely valuable.

When we are looking to up-level — becoming the next version of ourselves — we can often experience an identity crisis alongside it.
To accomplish new things, we have to essentially become a different person. But in the moment, it can be difficult to identify which parts of you are essential and which need to evolve. We have to take stock of the parts of ourselves that are no longer compatible with what it takes for the next version to stand in our vision. If you’re in that phase of up-leveling, there are some questions that you can ask yourself to face what’s holding you back.
