She’s unique in being the only female Filipina comedian in British stand up, she also has a BSc in Experimental Pathology, a MSc in Forensic Science and a PhD in Virology under her belt; so it’s not only her comedy that is highly intelligent. Louise’s aversion to Namaste ‘wankery’ at yoga was unpicked and then we properly grilled Dr Sally Norton on weight gain in midlife and what to do about it. Sally is a medical NHS consultant and weight loss expert. 

This is the episode to listen to if you’re struggling to maintain healthy weight. Sally gave us evidence-based information on changes we can ALL make that WILL make a difference.

So much to take away from this episode that will be invaluable to men and women no matter what their age along with pitfalls to avoid around food with kids and teens.

Our guest today is Emma Parker, the CEO of Playful Promises which is a lingerie brand WITH A DIFFERENCE… really beautiful lingerie BUT the brand really is all about celebrating  and valuing ALL women … not just the young, thin ones. If you look on Playful Promises website & Instagram account you’ll see that they are absolutely committed to diverse imagery and have been for years – way before it became cool in the fashion industry to throw the old dogs (or the plus size ones)  an occasional bone … they consistently value their customers of every age and size  and make beautiful lingerie for them… so if you’re over 25, bigger than a size 10 and thought Marks & Sparks was your only option – think again. 

The largest demographic of lingerie buyers is people between the age of 30-45 but you wouldn’t know that from looking at most lingerie campaigns who portray the average customer as a teen or early-twenty-something. It's no wonder that 70% of women over the age of 45 report feeling ignored by the fashion industry.

We’re joined by award-winning Doula, birth worker, educator and activist Mars Lord. I met Mars about 12 years ago through my birth work… ‘What’s any of this got to do with midlife? ’I hear you ask – well, for a bit of background, I’ve seen her speak quite a few times and when she does there are always lightbulb moments in abundance for her audience. Each time I’ve come away inspired and informed. 

So, imagine my delight when I learnt that she is branching out, using her years of experience to coaching – it gave me a legitimate reason to ask her onto this midlife podcast …

Of COURSE we didn’t stick just to the topic in hand, we talked about EVERYTHING and it was an absolute treat, because a conversation with Mars leaves you considering things differently. 

But, as regards the coaching - are you questioning who you are and who you want to be? Do you know some changes need to happen but you’re not sure what they are or how you go about making them?
