I’ve always believed that family education plays a crucial role in a child’s process of growing up. Growing up as a kid and a teenager who has always loved learning languages and especially English, I, of course, it’s no exception to this rule. There are many factors at play which have nurtured me into the language lover that I am today. For example, my dad was an English teacher (now retired!) I loved sharing with me Stories about a teaching career and language learning; During childhood and adolescence, playing language-themed games was one of our most fun past times in my family. Language learning has always felt more like a fun family activity than exam preparation sessions to me.All this, I believe, goes to show that the more fun you have in the learning process, the more effectively you can learn. I don’t believe that either pain or rote memorisation can help you learn a language properly, in other words. You have to find ways to enjoy the process of learning to become a successful learner.Listen to this episode to get to hear my personal story - how my family education has shaped me into the language (especially English) lover that I am today.
